My son wanted to go see Tally Ho, but since we live in Vancouver and he's 5 and can't really tell the difference anyway, we ended up at the marina where Argonaut II is 😆 Good luck with the rest of you re-fit!
Hi thanks! Eric told me you stopped by. I’ll be joining Tally Ho! on their cruise north in a couple of weeks…I think we’ll hug the gulf islands to Nanaimo before crossing the straight.
I am loving this channel. Beautiful boat. I cringed though at seeing you working on this project in bare feet. Ouch potential 😆. I am looking forward to binging on the rest of the vids on this rainy day.
I so vividly remember your vessel long ago in desolation sound, along with the Electra and the Thea Voss. In my opinion, the beauty of ship building in this era is beyond measure. It is true. They do not have any of the most basic mod coms, they do, however, possess a elegant beauty that that is and always will be unmatched.
You could have made a Stainless Steel MUFF type tank that would take the exhaust and pass it through a pipe in the center of the tank which would heat the water and cool the exhaust. We have this type of system in our house on our wood stove. It works really well. our system makes steam in 30 min and it is free heat. Yes we have several PPR valves on the system for safety as well as a slack tank. Jim in Chile
Great video. When you removed the tank and all the water flowed out, where did the water go? Just into the bowels of the ship? Do you have to remove that?
Yes - just straight into the bilge, and then I have bilge pumps that attach to float switches that go off as the water gets high enough to trip them. The boat is constantly leaking through old seams, the packing gland, etc. and I always have a few inches of water throughout the bilge. Adding 20 gallons from the water tank hardly moves the needle.
The water tank has an 800 watt electric heating element, and then when I am not connected to shore power, heats with my diesel furnace that also heats the boat with hot water radiators.
Is this the Argonaut from Boat Harbour? I did a bit of woodwork on it and the photo on an old Pacific Yachting has me at the helm. Good to see someone that cares is lokking after that boat!
If anyone knows information regarding the "Miss Ann" on the East coast please let us all know. One of many beautiful yachts of that era. So wish I could own one.
Great clip. Too short. I could have watched more of your detail work. Your engine room is a place of worship!

You have the potential of becoming an interesting channel to subscribe to; but not if you continue your current format of 5-7 minute blog type posts.
Thanks for the feedback. I am working on learning video editing, etc. and look forward to improving. What would you like to see instead?

Yes! And we are just south of Boat Harbor right now, making our way north tomorrow! I would love to hear about the work you did on Argonaut
