Argonaut II is a 73' Classic Wooden Motor Yacht built in 1922 that carries a rich history in the Pacific Northwest, primarily cruising the remote coastline of British Columbia as a medical mission boat providing services to thousands of patients each year. Since 2021, I have been working diligently to restore the boat into cruising condition, living and working aboard, learning as I go, and meeting so many interesting people along the way who are connected to the boat. I hope to use this platform as a way to continue sharing the boat's history with others, and appreciate your support in carrying on her story.

EP14 - Victoria's Classic Boat Festival
Thank you for watching, and please consider supporting this project and becoming part of this community.
This summer cruising was an incredible experience, and the start of the end of my trip was first attending Victoria's Classic Boat Festival in Victoria Harbour, British Columbia. In this episode, I run through some of the highlights of the trip, and why I took a bit of a hiatus from TH-cam (sorry!), but am back to finish out this series and begin getting into some boat projects that I am working on over the winter.
This video highlights some of the people I met at the festival who share a connection with the boat from decades ago, including a special boat trip across the Straight of Georgia with Phil Little, who was the engineer on the boat in 1959-1961. I also reunite with Tally Ho! which is an absolutely gorgeous 58' gaff-rigged cutter fresh out of a 7-year restoration project in Port Townsend, WA. We spent the first half of our respective summer cruises together, which served as my favorite part of the trip. It was fun to meet up with them again, and to share a few days together at at the festivals.
This coming year, I am really trying hard to raise money for ongoing restoration projects, and am sharing a few ways that you can contribute if you enjoy these videos or would like to see some ongoing work performed on Argonaut II.

a beautiful video Thank you your video gave Great respect to Telegraph creek well done
Very cool! Amazing all the research and history you have learned about the boat! Such great pictures of the people who have a connection to the boat!
Haha hey Paul! Thanks. You should come out sometime!
I have a limited edition print of the Argonaut II at the top of my stairs at home. I've been a professional mariner working the BC coast for 20+ years and love seeing these beautiful old boats on the water. Thank you for taking such good care of her.
Thank you for the kind words! Is it the painting of Argonaut underway and facing left with the Canadian flag flying off the stern? I have the original framed aboard in the salon. Come say hi if you ever see me along the coast this summer!
Get some kids to shuffle dance for you and the boat.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Your videos are superb! The picture quality is exceptional as is the audio. What are you using for equipment? Keep up the good work. JIM 🥰
Thank you! I use a DJI Mavic Mini II drone (the lower end model) and a pocket 3 camera and an iPhone - I would guess about evenly across the three. There is 4k footage in the drone and pocket 3 shots, but I don’t have a 4k tv to be able to view it so not sure how it’s coming out on larger screens.
Sidney Spit. Sorry to be pedantic.
No, you are correct. It slipped my mind and I didn’t catch it.
Love your vids and of course Argonaut. She’s a beauty. Only other comment I’d make is your drone flying around Sidney Spit is right in the flight path of the main runway at Victoria airport. I’m pretty sure flying drones in that area is prohibited.
Spencer Spit? Looks more like Sidney Spit.
That’s correct - slip of my mind.
Love seeing all those amazing boats in Victoria! Thanks for capturing the magic!
What a great video! I've belatedly liked and subscribed, something I don't normally do on TH-cam, though I've been enjoying your videos for some time now. I've been to the Victoria festival multiple times now, since it coincides with our anniversary; and while my wife is no longer able to walk from the hotel to the marina, I still can! But home is Port Townsend, so I am very much looking forward to the next one! I did, of course, come to the PT WBF and visited Argonaut, even shook your hand. Thank you for making these videos and keeping history alive!
Thanks for your kind words, and for reaching out! I’m happy you got a chance to come aboard!
Another awesome video! You always have great content! Thanks!
I appreciate that, thanks for watching!
Great to see Argonaut at the Victoria Classic Boat Festival!
I am always amazed at how many youtubers that seem to manage to feature themselves on each other’s channels. I can picture them all walking around with selfie sticks filming themselves and pulling that stupid selfie face at the camera.
Hi Jimmy, thanks for watching! I agree that can be a bit embarrassing and it’s good to try and be discrete, but it’s also needed to capture the right kind of video to make these videos possible for everyone to enjoy! For me, it’s also a way to help me improve my public speaking and get more comfortable talking and presenting to others - including the internet. I hope you enjoy these videos and I welcome any feedback you might have.
Beautiful video and excellent storytelling! Are you sure you didn’t mean Sidney Spit?
Sidney Spit, just east of Sidney, BC on Vancouver Island
It’s a real shame that the Canadian government can’t divert some of the money they spend on, to put it politely, unwelcome visitors, towards the restoration of something that DID benefit the Canadian nation and it’s hardworking inhabitants.
nice video ( A tally Ho watcher too)
Good to catch up again Nick. Thanks for the trip, it feels like an adventure for us stuck at home. 🍻
Beautiful boat.
Awesome video Nicholas!
Thanks for another great video.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Fantastic video, and story. Your keep it alive. I have aquired a S. California Historic family Vessel. A 1912 46ft Raised Deck Motor Launch. I would like to ask, i have not been able to find insurance for historic vessels. Would you happen to have any insight on that ? Thank you kindly. She picked us and i would like to continue the life of historicness... Capt Ron(self proclaimed) lol. For Historic Vessel Edna...Built in San Pedro CA...
Stellar...a visual smorgasbord!
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Jay!
Nick! Great vid and so good to see you back. May that flag bring you back to Canada for many years to come. Maybe we'll even have extended the breakwater for one of your future visits :)
Thanks, Duane! I think I’ll be back to Heritage Harbor this spring and will reach out when I do
What a beautiful looking boat. I got to see a lot of older wooden boats when i worked for a fire extinguisher company. servicing the CO2 systems in the engine rooms. The workmanship was so neat to see.
Great Episode Nick ! From Messenger III !
Hi Bill! Thank you!!
Glad to have you back. Excellent storytelling with a beautiful boat.
Crab torture… 😢
Thanks, Nick, for your great presentation of the boat's history and the respect you have for those involved in the history of the vessel. Keep up the good work. Regards John from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you John, I appreciate that!
Nic, you create really, really interesting content. Watching your posts is always a highlight of my day. Keep doin' good things.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
Thank you for this update. I was missing you.
A wonderful thing for you to have done, thank you for sharing your story and video.
Really glad to see a new video, thanks for posting!
I appreciate the support! They are hard to keep up with since I’ve gotten back but I’m going to try and keep it more regular!
I remember this boat visiting GMG logging camp in Smith Inlet, many great memories.
Glorybe II of the same owner, was a fantastic yacht sadly broken up at South Park Marina a few years back. I[m curious about the fate of my former boat, Mic- Vic, a 40' Chris Craft DCEB also at South Park. If anyone knows her fate I'd appreciate update.
A good Video, great Drone flying! Greeting's from Germany!

Enjoyed, thanks! Andrew

Very nice. Watching videos like this always has me wondering if I had actually gone to the Tally Ho project in the beginning, where I’d be now. I was considering the move back then, as I knew the town of Sequim (my first paid transom replacement) and Port Townsend from younger days. I really enjoy your videos Nick, keep hem coming please.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! This means a lot, I appreciate it!
Wasn't this in April?
This video takes us to September for the Victoria Classic Boat Festival
Gots to keep up with maintaining does flags. Out of respect. 🤙🏼
Agreed, and lesson learned to take a few with me next time!
you produce very nice high quality videos, You should start editing for other youtube channels who lack the skills that you have. I love that these old wooden boats are being care for and taken over by a younger generation. I really cant wait for Tally Ho to do the Fast Net again.
Another great video nick I wish I had xtra money to donate to restoration
Thanks Nick!!! Happy New Year
Delighted to watch your latest video. Happy New Year.
