    Just spent 270 buying Puma Forever Run Nitro, velocity nitro 2 and Deviate Nitro 2!

    Picked up the Velocity 2 for less than £60 in a deal with ASOS.. completely agree, as I find the Saucony Speed 2 better on fast runs but for a daily trainer when I'm out to just get the mileage in, the Velocity 2s are perfect. Super comfortable.

    An unexpected bonus with the Puma grip is that I have used the Velocity Nitro as a fencing training shoes. Much cheaper than fencing specific shoes and much softer for older fencers who take a battering on fencing shoes. Does push the durability. Scored a bunch of podium finishes at state level with it. Great value when on sale.

    Puma has had a few great shoes in the nitro range. Velocity nitro 2 has to be the standout shoe for me. I always love the run in it. Deviate 2 I have some issues at slower paces with it being a bit stiff for my liking

  • @jtrenchard1974
    @jtrenchard1974 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Agree totally - I have both and the velocity2 seems a bit softer and lighter on foot - also as an older runner I find it a bit easier on my knees. The biggest standout difference for me is that the Deviate 2s are significantly faster for me - if my knees are feeling good and I want a bit of a faster run I will use the Deviates.

  • @cristianfcao
    @cristianfcao 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    I always agree with Nick, but this time, I think the Deviate is noticeable softer and more cushioned than the Velocity. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Being lighter, more cushioned, more breathable and faster, I think they are a better and a more versatile option. If the difference in price is not a concern, I'd chose the Deviates hands down! Still, I think the Velocitys are great!

      Interestingly, in my case, the first 2-3 runs, Deviates were softer. After a couple of runs it changed and Velocity are softer. I,m 177 cm, 74 kg.
      But the main difference starts when I start running uphill. That's when I can feel how the carbon plate in the Deviates helps a lot. When sprinting I can also feel the difference, Velocity is lacking the performance. And I can feel it significantly when sprinting uphill. For me, Deviates are great for running a little faster and at different inclines.
      When selecting between the two, it mainly depends on whether I will run only on the flat or flat and up the hill. And what pace I choose.
      I also use the Velocity for walking, standing and exercising. Both shoes have phenomenal grip and I'm excited to see the next versions

      @@MadLadsAnonymous You can walk in them just fine, but it's a little bit weird. It's not just the plate, but also a rocker design of the shoe. I think, for a do-it-all shoe, the Magnify Nitro 2 is a slightly better option.

    Brilliant, I had been hoping that youd do a video comparing these two shoes. I love the velocity nitro 2 (have two pairs of them) but I was considering getting a pair of deviate nitro 2 aswell, but now I think I will stick with the velocity. Thanks for saving me £140!!

    Great video Nick! I really liked the verdict and justifications for each shoe. I agree both are very good shoes, but Velocity Nitro has a better fit in a rotation and better value (especially with frequent PUMA discount coupons)

  • @kirbster1977

    If Puma just stripped back the upper on the velocity 2 it would be even better. I love the ride and fit, just dont need all that padding as makes it heavier and warmer than it needs to be.

    I like the velocity v2, it has the best grip of all my shoes (novablast 1, glideride 2, endo speed 2, ghost 14, velocity v1), feels soft enough but the dual midsole does need a bit of time getting used to, however the whole upper is just like a sponge, I went out for my last run 2-3 hours after the rain stopped and I came back with the shoe completely soaked, I stepped once in a small puddle, that was it, rest was just spray from running itself, cannot use this shoe at all in wet or even moist conditions, also sweat soaks it in the summer too. Because of this I like the v1 more, it has similar ride, just firmer with better upper.

  • @ariftirtoaji2278
    @ariftirtoaji2278 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My take on the Deviate is that Puma tried to have a sub-super shoes or an affordable race shoes for some with less resource. But, instead of having full length of super foam + plastic plate (Endo speed, Takumi Sen 8), they went with mix foam and carbon plate.
    And they try this mix foams for 2 line-ups, deviate and the Fast-R, with the second one turned up to be expensive. I don't think they nailed it for these line ups
