Pretty fascinating that, In the Legends continuity, Cindel would become a very popular reporter in Coruscant. She's in fact mentioned in the Black Fleet Crisis book Trilogy
Holy Hell really? Thats my favorite EU book series and I never thought about. Idk why Disney didn't just take stories from the already beloved established and accepted canon and make movies. Though chances are, it would have been disapointing anyways. At least people would understand why some droids are practically people. Mandalorian kinda stretched that to absurd level 😂. There's a book that was just about to be published, then Disney took over and the deal went under so it was just posted free to view online. Forget what the book is called, but I did read Cindel's chapter.

Dude they have showed this so many times on TV til the late 90s. Most of us fans are familiar with the movies. Battle for Endor even won an Emmy for best visual effects.
These are slowly becoming canon because Favreau brought the blurrgs back in live action for Kuiil and other characters to ride on in the Mandalorian. I was 8 when these came out so I just remember it being awesome but scary. To this day I'll never put my hand into a tree hole. lol
"You're yelling at care bears" No. He's yelling at an alien species that has been documented eating his species They only became care bears when they made the animated series
I was an 80's kid and not gonna lie this was SO EXCITING to see on TV! My sister and I LOVED these Ewok movies and our minds were BLOWN watching "NEW" Star Wars films debuting on Friday / Saturday night television! It was incredible.
Yeah I liked them. I was the perfect age. It was the 80’s the older brother was being a mean kid because kids are mean. The lesson of the rock was sometimes people care enough to look after you even when you don’t necessarily deserve it. As far as stuff just being random in the show. Well, welcome to the 80’s. Things were a lot less linear and sometimes just there because it was interesting or needed to fill up some screen time (magic is cool and the kids did some, it also might have been setting the stage to let you know magic is a thing that can happen. So when it happens later in the movie it’s not just out of nowhere, maybe). In this Star Wars there can be no argument, it was made for kids. Specifically kids in the eighties. When there was nothing NOTHING other than the OT. Unless you count the droids cartoon.
As a little kid in the 80s, I can honestly tell you we loved this Ewok movie. It was directed towards kids. Lucas knew that kids loved his movies, so this was something for them, and we absolutely loved it.
Great video as always. Since you brought up your previous videos on Star Wars spin-offs you wanted to see and it coming true, I really want to see you do a video on modern videogame movies and address what you said in your older video.
Empire and Return of the Jedi had a tonal swing from dark to light, so it only fits that these two movies swing from light to dark. Maybe we can call that an "artistic style" for George Lucas.
May the 4th be with you, Suspect! Great job as always. And while we're on the subject of Lucasfilm productions, for a future project, would you consider doing a retrospective of Young Indiana Jones?
My family had these movies on VHS back in the day. Years later, I learned there are a few differences between the original tv airing of Battle for Endor and its home media releases. 1) the biggest one, a scene where the heroes are passing Noah's house, Wicket starts to head for it, only for Noah to call him back, saying the star cruiser is safer. What follows, the Mauraders stop to search the house, and then burn it down, buying the heroes some time. 2) when Noah is about to be killed, a pair of Cindel's lines, "Use your sling!" and "You hit the ring!" are in the VHS release, but not the DVD release. For a moment, I wondered if you were going to mention that Charal was a Nightsister, so thank you for doing so. Lastly, one moment that stuck out, when Noah finds his friend's remain in the dungeon.
Speaking of Star Wars characters I would be curious to know more about whether that entails a series or not, I always wanted to know more about Donnie Yen's character from Rogue One because I'm a huge fan of Donnie Yen as a martial artist, actor, and as a person in general. That and I genuinely think what little character he did have in that movie could have a potentially interesting background and history.
Yeah, that would be awesome how are you? If it didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to I’m just glad to see Hayden Christensen finally getting the respect he deserves because of Obi-Wan and ahoska
I was a child in 1984 & 85 and I saw both Ewok movies. These movies weren’t made for adults. These were tv movies made for children. As a child I did enjoy it. Having said that, as a child I did enjoy the second Ewok the most.
So fun fact, as a kid I had the Battle for Endor and had no idea about the original movie... I wont lie; knowing it's a sequel and they were established characters.... makes it so damn funny to me.
When I saw "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure" I was sick as a dog with the flue and my brother who was a year older than me was playing with his legos, I passed out a few times until I projectile vomited right on his lego set. I never really got to watch that film due to the passing of the flu.
speaking of pushy fans, I'll proclaim here that I don't like the ethereal green background. I think a better idea would be making your greenscreen background related to the setting of the thing you're talking about (ex. The Shire in a LOTR video, or Endor for this video) ps. I'm liking the new content, keep it up
There's more spin-offs in the Star wars universe then there are people in the average spin class. Not that I actually know that just trying to make a terrible pun
Nice review! I will never forget seeing these when they originally aired. I was really disturbed when the family gets killed at the start of the second movie. I’m kind of impressed they brought all those actors back just to murder them off! I have both these movies on physical media.
"If you removed the Ewoks you wouldn't know it was Star Wars. And aside from the spaceship and blaster you wouldnt even know it's sci-fi" That's the value of the monomyth. It's interchangable since genre is just a paint job. Also the genre of Space Opera has always had a portion that is "science fiction + fantasy" Just a few examples: Princess of Mars (John Carter) Flash Gordon Buck Rogers Krull
As a kid I compared the Ewok sequels as a mix of Starwars and Legend with Tom Cruise with the black magic...But Teek was the most goofy puppet creature you will ever see in the puppet world,Just straight funny looking and the sound of Teek today still cracks me up😄
7:30 Star Wars has always been fantasy. A lot of people think it's SciFi because it has space ships and ray guns, but it's set a long time ago in a far away land and prominently features sword-wielding wizard knights.
I’m honestly surprised that I actually want to watch Battle of Endor now. I went into this video expecting these movies to be god awful but they actually look alright
7:40 - If you wanna give it - acting, effects, story, a perfect comparison it's like taking Sid and Marty Kroft's original Land Of The Lost and Ewokifying it. Will and Holly at a younger age lost and Ewoks instead of monkey people and monsters instead of dinosaurs.
My next video idea, Don't know if you're a book reader but l like to see you take on Fantasys Books that need be the next Harry Potter or Game Of Thrones adaptions.
I had seen these. I recall genuinely thinking it was a Shirley Temple Star Wars crossover as a kid, and when I got older I assumed that couldn’t possibly be true and that it must have been a dream. Then I saw these show up on Disney+. The second movie was actually inspired by Heidi, and that may have added to my confusion.
This was great! Really cool to look at Star Wars before things were so set in stone. It's why I appreciate the classic Thrawn Trilogy of novels so much. You see those bits of ingenuity and creativity from the author and how he imagined the universe and history of Star Wars to be.
Wisties (The fairy things) were funnily enough one of the few things from this movie that have since become canon. In the new Battlefront 2, Ewoks can throw little sacks filled with the things and they attack enemies.
I think you should just a liiittle bit easier on the some of the production short comings of these TV movies. After all, the Ewoks movies were made at a time before TV movies (and shows for that matter) started getting the budgets only movies would get. So it made sense the masks didn’t quite move. But hey, if I remember correctly, one of those movies did get an Emmy for VFX. So that ain’t bad. But man! You’re right about the 2nd one, I forgot how dark it starts off, with the girl’s family being wiped out.
I feel like there are two camps of Star Wars fans, those who love the Ewoks & those who hate the Ewoks. I was born in the middle of the OG Stars Wars films & I love the Ewoks & remember the Ewok films fondly. I feel like the fans who were teens when the OG films came out, were disappointed by them because they felt like they were purposefully made “child-friendly” for toy marketing purposes. After seeing the original script & story sketches for The Phantom Menace, it’s obvious that they did the same thing for that film & was the main thing I disliked. I can see why that side of the fandom disliked the Ewoks & I was too young to understand this concept, until the prequels came out & I saw it for myself.
1st movie: Whimsical fantasy for kids where children save the village and their parents. Yup, it's eighties. 2nd movie: Whimsical fantasy for kids where they all die, and after that the title drop. Yup, it's eighties.
I had an even darker idea for the ending of Battle for Endor. Imagine the Empire shows up at the very end as Cindel gets ready to leave. She has to lie to the Ewoks and tell them that they've come to help, setting up Return of the Jedi.
Taped both off TV as a kid. Caravan only watched like twice, but Battle watched several times. I liked Wicket and that he was more prominent in the latter film.
There are in fact Earth animals in Star Wars (snakes and reptiles), just exclusively on Degoba. That lends itself to my stupid fan theory that Degoba is in fact Earth (a long time ago, as they say)
There's also apparently ducks somewhere in Star Wars since in The Phantom Menace, Captain Panaka says "without the shield generator we'll be sitting ducks!"
The problem with Star Wars now is the same problem with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, quantity over quality. Both Kathleen Kennedy and Disney are too blamed for their downfalls.
shirley temple was about that age. born 1928 and in movies from 1932 onwards. i'm not sure how old she was when she became the lead though. i own the ewok movies on dvd.🙂
I subjected my 11 year old to the Holiday Special yesterday. I might leave it a while before we tackle the Ewok films but good to know that they are: a) not totally awful, and b) shorter than the holiday special!
Really? Really really? Because whilst it’s still hella awful, to me it’s justifiable. They messed about with mixed signals and emotions all the way through the movie with even worse dialogue and then when Padme is hit with “good god I’m about to die” she realises she actually loves Anakin, and she really wants him to know it isn’t confused this time. Yeah there’s about a thousand different ways she could have said it but “I think she eats giggles” actually sounds like the sort of thing only said on… well imagine chewy and Han on the falcon, shipping in so many death sticks there’s literally nowhere left in the cabin besides the two pilots chairs, then double it and give the lot to jar Jar Binks. Just my opinion
@@citywitt3202 I'm more so talking about in comparison to that line that Rose said, but anyway. Especially when the line I mentioned kind of makes me feel nauseous to say. Regardless, yeah, that eating giggles line sounds like something somebody says when they're high.
So the second movie is "$H!7 JUST WENT FROM 0 TO 100 REAL F#$%ING FAST!" can't say I was expecting that. As for any review ideas, not really sure tbh, I do like the Young Indiana Jones idea someone brought up, but not much else, I do have two though, a look back at the Narnia movies, (And possibly any other adaptations like with the LotR vid) and the older Series of Unfortunate Events movie, heck maybe you could even take a look at the Netflix show if you feel like it.
Ewoks? No thank you. At 14, we thought Star Wars was... OK. At 16, we thought Empire was excellent. At 19, we walked out of the cinema when those bloody Teddy Bears popped up. Not bothered with it since.
I own both on DVD, I grew up in the 80’s so anything beyond the original trilogy was a rare treat. I love both of these movies and will die on the hill that these are canon
11:35 Did you forget about Dagobah? There's a few scenes in Empire Strikes Back where we see earthly reptiles on that swampy planet. Snakes, lizards, and I wouldn't be surprised thar the creature that tried to eat R2 was an actual alligator or crocodile, were all on Dagobah.
Caravan of courage...I was nine when this came out in 1984...I remember it,saw a bit of it....HATED it,really was the first thing Star Wars I ever hated.....well look at where we are now,I think this was foreshadowing of some sort.
My uncle, who is a huge Star Wars fan and actually got me into it, had an book from the 80's about ILM and the movies they had worked on until then, and these Ewok movies were actually mentioned there, first time I ever heard about them.
It’d be interesting to see an Ewok horror movie, from the point of view of Stromtroopers abandoned on the planet. Basically, a movie version of Ewok Hunt, but scarier!
I'm pretty sure I saw both of these when I was very little, but MAN I do not remember the second movies dark as hell opening. Holy shit, my parents must've skipped it somehow
Concerning your question about the youngest lead in a film, there is the case of Baby LeRoy, whose entire movie career lasted from 1933 to 1935, bwteen the ages of 1 & 3. Put under a studio contract at the age of 16 months he was taking second billing to WC Fields by the age of 2. So not exactly the lead if you only count top-billing, but the closest i can think of. He died in 2001 having spent the rest of his life in the merchant navy.

These are slowly becoming canon because Favreau brought the blurrgs back in live action for Kuiil and other characters to ride on in the Mandalorian. I was 8 when these came out so I just remember it being awesome but scary. To this day I'll never put my hand into a tree hole. lol
"You're yelling at care bears"
No. He's yelling at an alien species that has been documented eating his species
They only became care bears when they made the animated series
@@sethfg And hey, these Ewok films are at least BETTER than the Last Jedi ! LMAO
As a little kid in the 80s, I can honestly tell you we loved this Ewok movie. It was directed towards kids. Lucas knew that kids loved his movies, so this was something for them, and we absolutely loved it.
When I watched these tow movies as a kid, I loved them both, and battle for Andor was almost terrifying at moments!
I saw the ewok movies in the late 90s as a kid and i loved them. Its so hard to find another person that's seen them
Great video as always. Since you brought up your previous videos on Star Wars spin-offs you wanted to see and it coming true, I really want to see you do a video on modern videogame movies and address what you said in your older video.
I gotta say, this is probably your best video in recent years. Your comedic chops and editing are top notch. Keep it up mate! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I straight-up lost it at that “Spyro 2” reference!
Empire and Return of the Jedi had a tonal swing from dark to light, so it only fits that these two movies swing from light to dark. Maybe we can call that an "artistic style" for George Lucas.
Exactly
May the 4th be with you, Suspect! Great job as always. And while we're on the subject of Lucasfilm productions, for a future project, would you consider doing a retrospective of Young Indiana Jones?
That's a series that's intrigued me, I've never seen it. Reviewing stuff is always a good excuse to check it out. I'll keep that one in mind.
Fellowship of The Ewoks Forever 🤣 Dude u killed me at this Moment✌️
12:02 as a battlefront 2 player, it’s actually really cool to see that this is where the wisties came from.
Imagine if Kenobi had the level of writing and production quality of Andor
I can definitely imagine
Yeah, that would be awesome how are you? If it didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to I’m just glad to see Hayden Christensen finally getting the respect he deserves because of Obi-Wan and ahoska
Hayden is fantastic as Anakin
The reflection in de water is imo intentional visually to show hes stuck in the water and i don't mind it!
Yup, its not like they erased the character from the scenes and forgot to erase the reflection. They literally had to add the reflection to the water.
I was a child in 1984 & 85 and I saw both Ewok movies. These movies weren’t made for adults.
These were tv movies made for children. As a child I did enjoy it.
Having said that, as a child I did enjoy the second Ewok the most.
15:10 Missed out on the sand one...
Oh... or the one where Darth Vader chases down Obi Wan and asks Obi Wan: "Have you come here to kill me?"
So fun fact, as a kid I had the Battle for Endor and had no idea about the original movie... I wont lie; knowing it's a sequel and they were established characters.... makes it so damn funny to me.
Battle For Endor is a classic
Aubree Miller as Cindel is adorable
When I saw "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure" I was sick as a dog with the flue and my brother who was a year older than me was playing with his legos, I passed out a few times until I projectile vomited right on his lego set. I never really got to watch that film due to the passing of the flu.
Saw the Ewok movies as a kid. Even as a small child I couldn’t shake the feeling I’d made a terrible mistake
speaking of pushy fans, I'll proclaim here that I don't like the ethereal green background. I think a better idea would be making your greenscreen background related to the setting of the thing you're talking about (ex. The Shire in a LOTR video, or Endor for this video)
ps. I'm liking the new content, keep it up
Yeah, that's a decent idea. I did that with my video I did on Pokemon Scarlet. Changing up the background dependent on what I'm reviewing.
The second film is just awesome
"If you removed the Ewoks you wouldn't know it was Star Wars. And aside from the spaceship and blaster you wouldnt even know it's sci-fi"
That's the value of the monomyth. It's interchangable since genre is just a paint job.
Also the genre of Space Opera has always had a portion that is "science fiction + fantasy"
Just a few examples:
Princess of Mars (John Carter)
Flash Gordon
Buck Rogers
Krull
If I told my younger self I would live in times with so much Star Wars I don't care anymore... My younger self would think I was sent by Skynet.
💯
Really hope 1 day we're going to get the holiday special review
As a kid I compared the Ewok sequels as a mix of Starwars and Legend with Tom Cruise with the black magic...But Teek was the most goofy puppet creature you will ever see in the puppet world,Just straight funny looking and the sound of Teek today still cracks me up😄
7:30 Star Wars has always been fantasy. A lot of people think it's SciFi because it has space ships and ray guns, but it's set a long time ago in a far away land and prominently features sword-wielding wizard knights.
as a kid I liked how scary the giant wolf at night scene was, and I loved the wisps, but I couldn't even watch it as an adult.
I laugh every time Ross says “Wilford Brimley”.
I've seen Caravan of Courage but not Battle for Endor!
First thing i thought was; "Jesus! Does that kid look like Luke or what?"
🤔
I’m honestly surprised that I actually want to watch Battle of Endor now. I went into this video expecting these movies to be god awful but they actually look alright
Battle For Endor is amazing and a masterpiece
Aubree Miller as Cindel is adorable in the film
I owned these on VHS when I was a kid.
The force is strong with this video and its host.
True.
I saw Caravan of Courage in theatres, so old …
This was great! Really cool to look at Star Wars before things were so set in stone. It's why I appreciate the classic Thrawn Trilogy of novels so much. You see those bits of ingenuity and creativity from the author and how he imagined the universe and history of Star Wars to be.
Ah, the quaint days when the fandom's punching bag was the Ewoks.
😂😂😂😂😂
Seriously tho, the second Ewoks movie is awesome
Wisties (The fairy things) were funnily enough one of the few things from this movie that have since become canon. In the new Battlefront 2, Ewoks can throw little sacks filled with the things and they attack enemies.
14:11 You know, I’ve gotta give credit, with how frantic the movements are, they did a good job matching the animation to the lighting
The editing in this video is spot on. Incredible. How have I not seen your stuff before?
Cool but Tbh, I prefer to think Battle For Endor happened AFTER ROTJ, not before.
Given Wicket speaks English in BfE, this seems like a necessary conclusion.
Taped both off TV as a kid. Caravan only watched like twice, but Battle watched several times. I liked Wicket and that he was more prominent in the latter film.
Cindel was so adorable in Battle For Endor and Aubree Miller was fantastic along with Wicket/Warwick Davjs
Battle For Endor is AWESOME
That was Carel Struycken(mr Homn, Lurch) playing the villain Terak
Awesome actor
I remember watching them when they came out as I loved Star Warsand despite beig 6 & 7 I found them hard work to get through.
There are in fact Earth animals in Star Wars (snakes and reptiles), just exclusively on Degoba. That lends itself to my stupid fan theory that Degoba is in fact Earth (a long time ago, as they say)
Ooh! That's a juicy theory! Haha. Except we are talking about 'a galaxy far far away' here.
There's also apparently ducks somewhere in Star Wars since in The Phantom Menace, Captain Panaka says "without the shield generator we'll be sitting ducks!"
Did anyone else just rediscover this man? Suspect, it's great to have you back!
The problem with Star Wars now is the same problem with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, quantity over quality. Both Kathleen Kennedy and Disney are too blamed for their downfalls.
💯
shirley temple was about that age. born 1928 and in movies from 1932 onwards. i'm not sure how old she was when she became the lead though.
i own the ewok movies on dvd.🙂
I subjected my 11 year old to the Holiday Special yesterday. I might leave it a while before we tackle the Ewok films but good to know that they are:
a) not totally awful, and
b) shorter than the holiday special!
14:56-15:08 Oh please, that line doesn't even come close to "I truly, deeply love you" from Attack of the Clones.
At 9:47,
"HE SPLIT ROBIN'S ARROW IN TWAIN!!!!!"
Caravan of courage...I was nine when this came out in 1984...I remember it,saw a bit of it....HATED it,really was the first thing Star Wars I ever hated.....well look at where we are now,I think this was foreshadowing of some sort.
Yeah, I saw the Ewoks when I was a kid
My uncle, who is a huge Star Wars fan and actually got me into it, had an book from the 80's about ILM and the movies they had worked on until then, and these Ewok movies were actually mentioned there, first time I ever heard about them.
That’s fantastic
It’d be interesting to see an Ewok horror movie, from the point of view of Stromtroopers abandoned on the planet. Basically, a movie version of Ewok Hunt, but scarier!
Watched this as a kid. Loved it. I was exactly the right age.
Same here. 💯💯
I'm pretty sure I saw both of these when I was very little, but MAN I do not remember the second movies dark as hell opening. Holy shit, my parents must've skipped it somehow
The second one is 🔥
12:00 This just triggered some Battlefront II PTSD from Ewok Hunt
"Jar Jar's Kitchen Nightmares". Didn't care what followed. That joke was worth liking the video.
wtf i was so confused, i thought i was still watching the hobbit video.
We watched these movies as kids in the 1980s and we rather liked them..we did not realize they were "Star Wars" movies though...
Love this! Need more Star Wars content!!!
Happy may fourth!
May the 4th be with you, always.
Well, Spanky from the little rascals aka our gang was 3 years old when he started acting so you missed that
Interesting
@@chasehedges6775 u what 2 know what else interesting Spanky join when he was only 3 years old when join those little rascals aka our gang shorts in 1932
