    Hey guys! First off, subs are available here so switch on closed captions if you like! Also, below is a few corrections of things I've learned after this video went up, so feel free to peruse:
    - The reason why the choreography is so poor in One Night in Bangkok is because Kaos was only given 4 hours to shoot the final scene. His budget was also super tight.
    - Production was moved to Vancouver due to one of the principals of Ballistic refusing to leave North America after 9/11.

      @@Enkabard I mean it's just factually wrong. There are SO many good, fun, unique films being made in modern times and I honestly don't know where all this talk of 'movies suck now' comes from.
      Look at stuff like what Yorgos Lanthimos, Wes Anderson, Denis Villeneuve are doing, all absolutely spectacular takes on cinema with so much unique and beautiful cinematography being achieved. Even the quirky but mainstream stuff people like Edgar Wright and James Gunn have been doing with their films. Not to mention people like Neil McDonagh or Taika Waititi, who make beautifully absurd and heart breaking films.
      We're still also getting gorgeous films from classic and modern giants like Nolan, Peele, Tarantino and Scorsese. We're seeing a rise of brilliant action films being made by stuntmen that have a level of action and practical stunt work in them we've never before.
      Modern cinema is dripping in unique beauty, new techniques, rising new directors and awe inspiring movies by the bucket load, I find this argument that cinema is dying to be the complaints of people who are making no effort to actually give new films a chance and are content to just complain about stuff that isn't true.

    He directed Tekken 2: Kazuya's Revenge? 75% of that movie is just Kazuya walking around, doing nothing except hearing Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa spouting nonsense of to scenes from the first Tekken movie without any of the actors. When something finally happens, it's over just as it began, with Kazuya's final fight with two goons. Gary Daniels came back as Bryan Fury but not dressed or acting like Bryan and dissappears before Act 2 was over.

Usually when I hear TH-camrs complain about "studio interference" or "executives meddling in the production" of a movie that turns out to be bad, it's just unsubstantiated whining by people with an agenda: "Boo hoo, this multimillion-dollar movie about a comic book superhero wasn't in contention for an Oscar, it must be the studio's fault! It couldn't possibly be that the subject matter is inherently childish and inane -- blame the executives!" It's nice to get a detailed and nuanced look at the actual behind-the-scenes details and a legitimate justification of such claims for once.

    I think Kaos' problem here is that these movies are basically trauma responses to how he got fucked over before. His establishing shots got cut, so he overcorrected and they dragged on. His plotlines got muddied, so he tried to make them more 'obvious' even at the expense of actually telling the story, again, another overcorrection.
    He just needs time, good crew he can trust, and to relearn the basics of cinema. Then I have no doubt he could be the next great director.

    The critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes are notoriously unreliable. It might be 0% critic score, but it is 20% audience score. That might be low, but it is still better than Catwoman or Batman and Robin. There are some universally reviled things with less than 20% audience score where the critic score is bizarrely 90% or more.

      Critics may have had more information than the average movie goer, and may have been reacting to how a movie with so much potential was nonetheless not good.
      I could imagine they didn’t want to reward the producers and encouraging them to waste seemingly huge amounts of money on more bad movies.

    I've noticed that films from that late-90s early-00s era now look nearly classical in aesthetics because it was right before CGI really began to become the entire film. I recently watched the unremarkable Vin Diesel Wall Street film Boiler Room for free on TH-cam entirely so I could enjoy cozy shot-on-film images. These sort of middle range genre pictures are now extinct and may as well be arthouse flicks today. Of, and The Pledge is very interesting and worth a watch.

    I paid good money to see this in a theater back in the day. There were about 8 people in the theater when it started. Only myself and another masochist were left at the end. We shared a look and shook our heads, laughing on the way out of the multiplex. Unbelievable how bad this thing was. I’m glad that someone like you can find the “good” in it, because I was wondering what in the hell did I just watch (plot wise)?

    • @kato093
      @kato093 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      She hulk, Aladdin, little mermaid, the acolyte and many more are much worse than ballistic and some other "worst ever" films. They just have a massive budget. Remove half the Disney budget and those movies would be in the worst movies ever lists, if they aren't already but I doubt it due to access journalism having everyone licking Disney's asshole like a chocolate chip ice cream.

    • @mike9512
      @mike9512 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @kato093 yeah, I disagree. The movies you listed have something good in them. And writing off people's opinions because you think they are sucking up to Disney, I would argue, is not great evidence. For Aladdin, that's almost 400 critic reviews and over 50 000 user reviews you are disregarding. Do you have any proof that those aren't legit?

    • @kato093
      @kato093 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mike9512 yes. Everything disney is getting a pass because of access journalism and sponsors. Same for Amazon.
      As fir people reviews, sites like metacritic and rotten tomatoes literally changed their review system so they can control the narrative and remove negative reviews. I know for sure that many were fake good reviews from bots because they were single review accounts with the same exact review copy and pasted thousands of time in different languages too (and translated badly with Google translate. The Spanish and Italian ones made little sense and were just 1:1 with the English wording, which doesn't work many times).
      But that was years ago.
      Thanks to AI, they can EASILY post fake reviews and nobody would know. Most if X/Twitter is game AI posts. Tons of TH-cam comments are fake posts as well. In fact, most of Twitter and TH-cam comments are bots. Hell, might be the entirety of metacritic and rotten tomatoes could be bots too and maybe your own reviews can be seen only by you (it's what TH-cam does when you get soft banned).
      And these tv shows and movies don't have anything good except the story behind the existing characters slightly resembling the original and a big budget. Well... WHEN you see the big budget, cuz she hulk looked awful and marvel pays so little that nobody of talent is willing to work on CGI for them so you get amateur trash like secret invasion.. or the Amazon lord of the rings show...no idea where all the money went (its a figure of speech. I know exactly where it all went, with how many diversity officers there were, it's like what happened with the Burn Loot Murder group).
      And do you seriously wanna tell me that black panther deserved a fkn Oscar?!? That was one of the few modern marvel movies that had something decent and it was a 5/10. And yet everyone jumped on it like it was the best movie ever made when the actual ending look like previs, some of the worst modern CGI I've ever seen in a big budget movie.
      Disney loses 2+ billion $ every year and yet the media is portraying them as if they make the best and most successful films.

Just bought that Robocop Rogue City game today and noticed quite a few of the originals are actually in it at least in likeness, Weller is there both as probably the best detailed face in the game, and its legit his voice too. I just couldnt remember his bloody name despite being a fan and seeing him in a bunch of random stuff since i was a kid.
