Last-Minute Bargain Shopping @ Fabulous Antique Vintage Show

- It's already Sunday of our antique show in the tremendous old Utopian town of New Harmony, Indiana! We've been so busy doing appraisals that we only now are getting free to shop. Will there still be bargain finds our collectors prize after a busy day at this great vintage and antique show?
The answer is a resounding yes! The friendly dealers at this show have plenty of great stuff, and we find deals on everything from costume jewelry and Boho hooked rugs to Fenton uranium fairy lamps and a pretty cool Jarts alternative that mom (and the Childhood Safety Council) would approve. A muscular Hungarian pottery bull, Evening in Paris powder and a pick that might have been used in someone's old Parisian pompadour are a fun things our summer show visitors will really love!
Between appraisals, I get around to shop a bunch of true antiques and primitives as well. A collection of 1840s-1860s Staffordshire figures and serving pieces tell us much about early Victorian tastes and trends, while great rusty metal objects range from sit-in metal washtubs to a Coca-Cola sponsored delivery scooter! Most surprising is a coverlet that could be at home in an MCM op-art display just as easily as an 1850s cottage. Even a very elderly flyswatter speaks to the ingenuity of people who just made due with what they had in early America.
We talk to a dealer about why he's returning to sell here in the real world, and the pros-and-cons versus his online selling platforms, giving insight to why different items sell for different prices in different places. Then it's time to pack and go home...and we didn't even get to shop all the outside dealers! We're looking forward to remedying that at this year's show, the weekend of June 8-9, 2024.

I am so so happy to have met you. Thank you so much for your knowledge and kindness ❤. I look so forward to seeing you in Petersburg Indiana 🥰
Can't wait!
Dang, Xeno did a great job, thought I was watching the price is right!
Zeno is a riot! 😂 I absolutely loved that lamp with the cattails
We have our next Vanna white!! ❤
OH MY WORD! THAT SHIP LIGHT IS FANTASTIC!😃
I passed on one at a "high-end" thrift store. They wanted $90. :(
@@BecauseItsCool That's close to retail, but it is nice
Great presentation Zeno!
"Vanna" was amazing!! Too funny! I had to do a double take because he looks just like a parent that I see when I go get my grand son from school!! I guess we all have a double somewhere! Thanks for sharing all this information! I love it!
Ha! Yes, I met a doppleganger of mine once and was sort of amazed.
The Staffordshire dogs are called Wally dugs(China, porcelain dogs) in Scotland 🏴🇺🇸🏴🇺🇸
Thank you for that! Very interesting. I hadn't heard that in the past but I think I can imagine the origins.
Oh my gosh. The knowledge you impart is phenomenal. Thank you!
Loved the hooked wall hanging! I made that exact one back in the late 70's!! Memories!!
A professional hand model in the making...lol
George goes shopping with the Uni-Bomber 😂
Lol
Oh! I want that cat tail lamp! Love it!!
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
My breath caught when you cut to the beau-ti-ful black transferware platter! The fun lawn game with the vibrant colors was a find too. Vanna was charming as always :)
My favorite is the Rams Head Ring Toss Game!
Shout out to the lovely Vanna ✌️&❤
Hey George and Vanna, the ring toss from 1920 and the farm still intact and in great condition, just shocking! 😊
I think the online buyer knows what they are looking for and what the item is worth. The in person sales draw in all kinds of people. Not just those with antique and vintage knowledge. Therefore, they may not understand the pricing. Xeno cracks me up.
Me too lol! You're right about the in-person sales.
Good evening, George. I got a little messed up on the time for this one...almost missed it. I had some stuff going on at 8:00pm. I'll have to go back and watch from the go. Mom had one of those Sara Coventry strawberry pins. It might still be here somewhere. I really liked the primitive items there. The flyswatter was something I'd not seen in a primitive before. Really liked that. I really liked the carpenter's box and that Coca~Cola scooter, too. $250.00 seemed a good price on it. There was a mantle piece/ewer on the washstand that caught my eye. Liked that one. I really like the carved bone hand you got. That was a supper-interesting show! Thanks for taking us along!
I'm glad you got to see it though! The Sarah Coventry pin, my mom had one as well. I suspect it was the cute thing to buy inexpensively if you were at one of those home selling parties they did. Indiana has really good primitives compared to most places, and the flyswatter got my attention! The Coke scooter was a good deal I think. The mantle sold this year at the sale, I think! Thank you, I knew you would appreciate the level of the stuff at this one
So many cool items to see I wish I lived close by so I could go see for myself. It was good to see Xeno and he did a great job as Vana to showcase everything you purchased. I'm always on the lookout for things that glow and love the owl. I can't wait to watch your next video. Say hi to Xeno and thanks George for all your excellent knowledge and the education you give us. 😊
Thank you so much! I really enjoy having you in the chat and in our community. I like glowing things too
Wild George. I really enjoyed this video. There was so much to see I could be there for days.Xeno You're hired LO LLO L.
i liked the purple transferware pitcher. good episode, as always.
Thank yoU!
Hope the 2024 show this weekend is a good one.
Thanks, it was good!
I love to collect old wallpockets and items made from chalkware among many many other goodies. This is the second time I've watched your video. I enjoyed every minute.
Fun! I just got a big collection myself. I'm glad this was a fun one for you!
@@TheAntiqueNomad well then, I'm jealous. Have a great week.
I am drawn to the little cabinets with lots of little drawers. I would love to find a small affordable library card catalog. My very first job was processing and cataloging reference books for libraries in a SLC school district. It would be handy for storage of craft supplies and jewelry.
Vans White doesn’t have anything over Xeno!! Good to see you both, George!
@@laraemitchell9064 You too! I like the small drawer cabinets, need them at my desk.
I had to stop the video when you showed the Evening in Paris bottle. I had found that same bottle recently when I was cleaning out my mother's house after she passed. I didn't even know it had powder in it.
Aww, that's sweet! I didn't know until someone dumped some at a show once, it's pretty strong lol
George! Loved the hook rug!
So did I! I'm sorry it left before I could get it to you
OmG! I made that hook rug when I was 16. I also made a white one with an orange sun. I wish I Still had them.
Oh neat!
Ok, off to see your shorts from New Harmony 🎉 thanks
Hope you like it!
Move over Vanna White 😃
Give me an X for Xeno .
Always unique items .
Lol!
Yes, Xeno is lovely! and SMART, too which is even better! Thanks for the look-see shopping trip and mini-interview with another multi-platform reseller. I love seeing how other people who are STUFF people, are working it out ❤
Me too! I like to see how the experience varies, everyone has a little different approach which keeps it fresh
My all time favorite is the cigarette dispenser. I would buy that in a minute! Thanks for the demonstration. 😮
Mine too!
Nice to be introduced to Alisha. HI Alisha, hope your sale went well !
I hope it did too!
:56 I know those baths as hip baths. I always have wanted one to actually use for self-sufficiency. 13:26. I have a couple of Nemadji pieces, but really want to find some nicer pieces marked The Alamo at a decent price. 14:37. I had a horse brush set and sold it for like $32 in my antique mall booth. I really didn't want to let it go. It was really cool because the vertical brush looked like a horse mane. 22:03. That quilt looks like the moire effect. Very neat.
Hip bath, yes that's another name I've heard for them! I like Nemadji, I like Alamo more but rarely see. You got the right price for the brush, my dog version is priced similarly! They are cool. Love the moire effect too!
@@TheAntiqueNomad There is Alamo pottery, but they also sold Nemadji at the Alamo as souvenirs, and they stamped it The Alamo underneath.
I learn so much from you. Thank you!
❤❤❤
Nice brooches!
I saw some fun things to buy! I like the pins as you do
love the rug/wall hanging
Xeno your hands look so soft and your nails are so clean and manicured. I often watch "picking and junkin" videos and it is hard to dig through barns and keep clean hands. It is amazing how much beter a piece looks when held by beautiful clean hands. I can say the same about Georges hands as well.
You might think otherwise if you watch some of my estate sale prep videos lol
I really enjoyed this video and your showing what was for sale and the cost.
Thanks! I try to do that a fair amoount of the time
Terrific! Sounds fun ❤
Oh I thought you should have bought the little lonesome fly swatter for only $10 it needed a home
I know, I was tempted
✨💖✨
Not corn people they are rainbow dancers on the silver necklace. I have one.
Thank you! They were a little undefined to me and I wasn't familiar with the difference
Thank you! That is my necklace and I will make the change to description.
I could not catch the maker of the bull. Also, does the bull have a connection to "Bull's Blood" Hungarian red wine?
Hello! I don't think it had that specific connection. I did finally find the maker of the bull and it's in one of my What Sold on eBay videos from last year
Im in Illinois usually watch Wed night shows at 7pm central -so tonights show is on at 8pm??
Xeno's mom's birthday dinner was at our usual time so we postponed
I will survive
I hope i can make it to ..........nine o clock
I'm glad you did!
Me too
Hello, George, you have a shopping problem.
Yes, I can't find enough good stuff to keep everyone happy! Lol
😂🎉
The shopper with the rolled-up umbrella was making me nervous.
Hi janet pogo
HI Lena, understand u got turned one a bit ago 😂🎉 that opening is a turn on !
@janetpogue4970 I luv it
Lena, you are fun 🎉 I will be on the lookout for you next time 🎉 have a great weekend, it's almost here
Great video
