    Nice work you guys!
    Your film making and story telling is like you have never stopped. Still really watchable/professional and has that calming element.
    I like your veteran EV driver confidence for finding charge points and sleep spots, is such that the quality of nearby boulangerie can dictate your decision.
    Pretty much everytime i drive our Tesla somebody will mention range and running out? I always point out it has 210 miles range each morning at just 80% charge and in real life after a good few UK road trips it has never been lower than 17% charge we have never once been inconvenienced by charging and running out is something i no longer even consider. Then if they are still interested i will open zapmap to show just how many charge points there are, and point out you rarely pay for parking while on them plus if all else fails any 3 pin plug will put 10 miles an hour in.
    You will be pleased to know as it was your films that pushed me EV that i have converted at least one person that i know of to a peugeot e208 and he loves it.
    Your podcast wrong turn reminded me of a time pre Sat nav driving home to Huddersfield from Angelsey and me thinking i can't recall seeing signs for Lancaster before. :-) Ed

      Hi Ed, thanks for your comment and kind works. This trip would have been a joy in a Tesla, we passed lots of empty superchagers! This was almost 3 weeks condensed into 20min, there was plenty of downtime! It's always great to hear about someone else beginning their EV journey and replacing an ICE vehicle, I'm happy to have helped in a small way. I think everyone has their own wrong turn stories, it was rather embarrassing, it would be useful if all cars had a compass on the dashboard as a sanity check! I know Google maps shows a compass, but for some unknown reason, the Android Auto headunit version of Google Maps that I was using doest. Although, I probably shouldn't blame this on the tech, it was totally my fault! I hope you're enjoying the snow, we seem to have missed out here in N.Wales.

    Hi guy's, lovely to see an electric vanlifer! When you have more info you could do a video about the costs traveling with an electric car please. Regards Rickard from Sweden 🇸🇪

      Good idea! When we charge the van at home overnight on off-peak electricity, it costs about 1 EUR/100km. I calculated that this trip cost about 7 EUR/100km, rapid charging on French autoroutes is more expensive than charging in the UK, however we got to charge for free at our destination and at a number of overnight stops. A diesel campervan would cost double, about 14 EUR/100km

    Fantastic - very inspiring to us as would be electric campervanners! Reality is it may be a while yet - meantime there are a lot of small electric vans coming onto the market, so will be investigating the options. Be interested to hear your thoughts on some of these. Most are a bit smaller in height and width than the E-NV200 (which is stopping production)? But on the positive side, some have long-wheelbase versions… We have been long term Toyota, and are considering the new Proace City Electric… Please keep the videos coming!

      Hi, thanks for your kind comment. The Vauxhall Vivaro-e and the Maxus eDeliver 3 looks like good options. Both are bigger than the e-NV200, have more range and charge faster. I've not got any personal experience of either, but they look like they would make excellent campers. Correct the env200 is being disconnected, however its being replaced by a Renault van that looks rather good, this will be a slightly larger van with more range.

    Hi Glyn, I live in France and use the Freshmile card (they have a good online map also) currently to access some fast chargers when needed, which is good in most regions, just not Cotes-D'Armor or Loire-Atlantique around where i live in central Brittany. I have the 24kWh e-nv200 currently (for about 2 months now) and love it, it's a great vehicle. In the future i'll likely pay a visit to the Netherlands and Muxam to upgrade the battery range.
    I was wondering what type 2 to type 1 cable you ended up using? I had bought one from Amazon, but had to return it as none of the chargers i tried worked with it, so was wondering which you used as you seem to have no issue when not rapid charging and i'd rather be sure the next one i buy works! Good to see you back enjoying your trips and fingers crossed you don't get stranded this side in any upcoming lock-downs that may happen (if so drop us a message and we can offer you guys a place to stay if needed, assuming you are still over here that is!).

    • @GlynHudson
      @GlynHudson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes I've got the Freshmile card but if found the Chargemap card also works to activate Freshmile chargers. I've used a number of different type 1 to type-2 cables over the years I've never has any problems, maybe you were just unluckily with a faulty cable? All 32A type-1 to type-2 cables should work exactly the same. Thanks for your kind offer, I'm afraid we're now back in the UK. Best wishes

      @@GlynHudson Hi Glyn - we’ve recently picked up our Vivaro-e camper, and so far we’ve not had our first proper sleep out in it. It’s only the 50KWh version, but it’s got 400W solar feeding a 300Ah battery. We’ve also got an induction hob to cook (no gas at all), and a Springer Spaniel! We plan on taking her back to her roots in Wales in the spring (she’s a Welsh Springer you see). (Might pick your brains later regarding taking power from traction battery.). Your videos really help show how even small electric vans are much easier to travel around in than people imagine. All best wishes, Alex

      Great to hear you've got an env200! You need to switch the van on in Ready mode: foot on the brake and press the powr button. The you can lock the van from the inside using the button next to the gear selector. If the van is actively charging (blue lights on dashboard flashing) you don't need to put foot on the brake, just press the power button twice

    Hello Glyn!, one in a while you post images with electrical wiring of env200. Where do you get them? Ho one could find it? I need wiring of high voltage from HV to 100V inverter. Could you please help me?

    • @GlynHudson
      @GlynHudson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, there is a wiring diagram on my blog. The HV battery is 400V DC, it's not a good idea to tap into this wiring. The van has a 1.7kW DC-DC converter, so you can use a 12V inverter blog.zerocarbonadventures.co.uk/2018/10/electric-campervan-diy-conversion.html

      @@GlynHudson thanx. I want to try to charge hv directly from solar panel

    • @GlynHudson
      @GlynHudson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kiryutinaleksey that's extremely dangerous, and not recommended. Charging the HV directly will bypass the safety interlock and the BMS which can easily result in overcharging the modules which will lead to the battery pack catching fire. Also, running HV cables around to the roof of the van would be very dangerous in the event of an accident. I hope you know what you're doing and are experienced working with HV DC.

    • @kiryutinaleksey
      @kiryutinaleksey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlynHudson Thanks for care. I am still thinking. By the way I want to use internal safety locks, so lets say replace 400DC-100AC inverter by incoming 400V voltage. So it will only charge while button (power plug) is pressed. will se. I dont want to route HV cable on the roof. Panels are typical 18V each

    • @GlynHudson
