it's a little tough to catch but the knife that the female prisoner tried to use is a Bringer's knife. It's a subtle tie-in to what's happening in BTVS.
Faith is my favorite character in the entire fictional universe - any genre, any other character, hands down. She's just...she's my girl. So don't even think you need to apologize for liking her. For me, Faith is mesmerizing and automatically captivates the instant she comes onscreen. I so loved her putting Connor in his place. The dynamic between her and Wesley is really fascinating now. And her and Angel have such a strong bond. She just works so well on the canvas here.
Wesley and Spike are neck and neck for best character arcs over the course of the entire franchise.

I know logistically why they never did this but the bit in this episode where Angelus talks to Dawn on the phone for just a sentence does make me wish they'd done an episode in Buffy that showed like, flashbacks of what they remember Season 1-4 were like with Dawn in the mix, just the big stuff cause like, Angelus and Faith in their respective seasons definitely would have messed with her.
I have a memory of a comic page showing a scene from 2x14 "Innocence" when Buffy doesn't yet realize that Angel has turned evil, but it has Dawn in the scene. Idk if this was from an official comic or just something a fan drew, and I can't find it right now to link to it.

I know you're ahead so I feel safe in saying that this is when the season gets fantastic in my opinion. Faith working with Wesley to save Angel?! The two of them have grown and evolved so much. It's kind of "healing" to see them working together.
In Angel it would be better if you could just blank out the bottom of the screen as you will be spoiled for guest stars, there are more surprises coming up, so it really would be a good thing to do for the first few minutes of each episode. This was another great episode in which we of course see Faith sprung from jail, I have to say can't see how Wesley could have survived that fall as a human even with Faith breaking it for him. Anyway, as she is now back, there is obviously going to be tensions, and I have to say Connor being put in his place by her gives us great satisfaction. Some interesting little comedy exchanges between Angelus and Faith, and the Beast really is pulverising Faith especially when he kicks her in the guts and sends her flying about 10 metres to crash on the table. Angelus we know, has the info to kill the Beast going back to the illusion with the Shaman, and duly stabs him in the one area he is vulnerable. Uncomfortable when The Beast kisses Cordelia, and again at the end with Connor. Again a great episode. Two more cracking episodes to follow Release and Orpheus (one of the best in the entire show). Again make sure you avoid those titles especially in Orpheus. Great reaction again.
She's finished the show now. But we did tell her to avoid the s5 opening credits!

5:48 Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that Deb here is played by Spice Williams-Crosby, who was also in the Buffy episode "What's my Line: Part Two" as Patrice, the assassin who tried to kill Buffy at the Career Fair. Interesting that she cameos in episodes of both shows that feature Second Slayers. She has several dozen acting credits and is a prolific Stunt Performer as well.

Hopefully, Cordelia won't use it to manipulate Connor.
I would kill or die for a spin off series of This version of Wesley and Faith as watcher and slayer.
I'd say most everyone gets the ick over the Cordy/Conner hookup.
I never forget that Cordelia is Connor's surrogate mom. She's closest thing to Connor he have as mom after he lost his biological mother Darla died sacrifice herself for him when he was born in November 19, 2001.

Not his choice, forced on the writers/producers because CC neglected tell everyone she was pregnant and they had to move heaven and earth to keep her on the show
This episode really made me wish we had Faith throughout the Angel series. Even if she was just in a couple random monster of the week episode it could have been great. Like I would have proffered her to the electric girl or some of the other semi main characters we got throughout it. The Westley / Faith dynamic is perfect. Faith / Conner scenes make me want more from them.
Plus I just feel like she fits the Angel show dynamic really well with the whole theme of Angel being about redemption and atonement for past actions.
You look fantastic! Yes! You wanted her back , and she's here, Faith. It stood to reason that they would bring in a slayer, but everyone thought Buffy. Faith is a perfect choice because she doesn't want to kill Angel. Angellus didn't want her dead, it would have been more fun for him to torture her for awhile and then turn her into a vampire. I'm sure that wouldn't work; I mean, can a vampire slayer even be turned into a vampire? The darkness being dispelled is a good sign, but Angellus is still loose. Connor is just annoying isn't he? Not really sure which grossed me out more, Cordelia kissing the beast, or her getting pregnant, with Conners baby no less, and making out with him. Cordelia shows all the signs of being possessed.
Well, the only thing I can say is that Charisma was pregnant during this time and told Joss before the season was about to start. He got upset, had to rewrite how he wanted the season to play out and you're going to be slowly seeing what he did to her character. You said it: this is NOT our Cordy. Truly upsetting even to this day.
Cordelia and Connor? Gross. Cordelia and Connor are having a baby? EWWWW!!!! 🤮

As for the ick... I don't think anyone knows what Joss' original plan was, just that he went off at Charisma when she said she was keeping the baby, and treated her like shit for having to change things to work around her pregnancy. I wouldn't be surprised if the ick was a part of that.
No, that's a load of bull! CC screwed the season by not telling everyone she was pregnant meaning the writers/producers had to move heaven and earth to keep her on the show. The original plan was just for her to be evil like Angel, Faith and Willow were. Let's stop the hypocritical Joss bashing nonsense.
From what I heard charisma attempted to reach out many times about her pregnancy but the news didn't get through for quite awhile.
It may also be the case that she waited it out a little, which should be a women's perogative. However. It's Hollywood. I also heard a rumors that there might have been a contract around this were she agreed to not get pregnancy. The fact that such a contract would exist is f***** up because a woman should be entitled to the rights of her body above all else, but we also have to understand the strain this would add to the creative process. In other words the whole thing is messy.
IMO, was Joss a d****? Like many have accused him of, yes! Should he be canceled and grouped with bunch of others accused of much worse things?

I'm SO on the same page as you regarding the "ick" factor. Even knowing Cordy's not really Cordy in this episode, it's still gross. I really hate this storyline. But the Faith and Wesley stuff (between the two of them, and Faith with Angel, and Wes with Lila) was fantastic - that saves things for me quite a bit.
Angelus almost died at Faith's hands when she broke the window. It only took three episodes and two to three days. It took Buffy nine episodes and four months to get Angelus on his knees to behead before the re-ensoulment spell kicked in. Neither one want to kill Angel, but both learn it must be done, if necessary. Faith got there quicker emotionally. Guess love does hancuff people more, in some ways. Buffy loved Angel, and Faith owed him everything. Both said they wouldn't kill him, but Faith went to said place of doing so quicker. It's interesting when you think about it.
I don't think Faith was trying to kill him when she broke the window, just protecting herself.
@@maidden True, but the point leads to she's willing to do so when her life is in danger. Buffy always played defense with Angelus until _Go Fish_ when Angelus was spitting out the blood. That's why he ran from the fight. A bad taste wouldn't stop him from fighting. He realized Buffy was willing to go all the way after letting go of her guilt in _I Only Have Eyes For You._
Faith breaking the window was an act of desperation in order to survive. Buffy was never put in a kill or be killed spot with Angelus, where she had do something or die.
@@Buffy8Fan Buffy doesn't go on the offensive in Go Fish. Angelus is biting Gage and Buffy saves him. She then pulls a stake, but never advances towards Angelus. She also doesn't pursue Angelus when he runs away. Angelus runs away, not because Buffy is now attacking, but because he doesn't have the advantage. He just drank some really bad blood, that's making him spit. Angelus doesn't like a fair fight or a fight that he is at a disadvantage. He attacks when his victim is at their weakest.
@@alexh8613 I agree with the first sentence, but it doesn't mean Faith wasn't willing to do so in said desperation. Her desperation even proves that fact. That was my point. And Buffy's put in that situation with Angelus everytime she fought him: After she killed The Judge, stopping Giles on his revenge against Jenny's murder, and when the beginning of _Killed by Death_ (although she was sick for that one and needed the Scoobies to get out of it before fainting and taken to the hospital). It's not until an episode later ( _I Only Have Eyes For You_ ) she deals with those issues of guilt holding her back, which means it isn't until _Go Fish_ she is willing to kill him. Buffy doesn't have to be on the verge of death to show it was harder on her to get to that place. Her whole arc during the Angelus run is about getting to that point, where as Faith knows she might have to and is ready for the possibility (as she tells Connor she'll be the one to do so if needed). This all comes back to my original comments point of how interesting it is how much more quickly Faith was willing to do so.
I hate season 4 “Cordelia” .I saw one commenter saying they preferred this season of Angel over Buffy season 7 and I just can’t wrap my head around how anyone could lol
I have never been a fan of Faith . I don’t think she’s as complicated as people want to believe. And I don’t really like Eliza’s acting or her line delivery .But that’s just me. I know I’m in the very minor minority with that 😅 I do prefer the reformed Faith, Always.
I’m one them people. 🤣. I love faith and I like the long term story telling in season 4. Buffy season 7 has great episodes but for me wasted potential.
The cordy and Connor stuff is ick. The writers have confirmed that the evil cordy was always the plan, but I agree how they wrote around Charisma’s pregnancy into the storyline wasn’t great.

It's not the best season but the good stuff makes up for the bad, imo. And knowing the original plan for the season makes me appreciate what we got even more.
