"i kinda want to see those reavers"
me: ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT??
When Alan Tudyk did the interrogation scene he kept going till he got the guy to burst out laughing. The video of that is out there somewhere.
Bloopers and deleted scenes should only be watched after the series & movie due to spoilers.
@@dunringill1747yes,wait. But definitely watch them.
Im so happy your on this show Dakara 🤘
Don't fret, Dakara. I promise you'll get reavers aplenty, sooner or later. Many viewers regret having wished for it.
Can't wait till this is over when you watch the gag reel. Some of his comic scenes like the interrogation has a number of outtakes with the officer cracking up.
Kaylee, "Besides, if I mess up, it's not like you'll be able to yell at me."
That interrogation scene was the best part for me, plus seeing River's abilities in action.
BTW the best episodes are yet to come IMO.
In MY opinion, each episode was better than the previous one, because of the character development.
@@margretrosenberg420Yes, the further we go, the fonder we grow of this crew.
The interrogation scene is a masterpiece of writing/editing.
Jayne or Wash' part?
@@dallesamllhals9161 the whole thing.
The more I watch this show the more these characters seem like family. And watching each new reactor's journey just seems to grow that family. I'm glad you're enjoying it (the "interrogation scene" is my favorite part of this one). Take care.
"Looked bigger when I couldn't see him." 😅
"He looked a lot bigger when I couldn't see him"
Sounds like Yogi Berra.
The brain teaser for this one; The lack of blood and gore that would have been the hallmark of any reaver attack is easily explained by Josh not wanting his audience puking up their dinners. Hower, there was 16 "Families" where are the kids? That nightmare is free, your welcome. :)
This episode was written in a horror thriller style. Firefly is either good, or it's great. This is one of the lesser episodes for me.
The entire interrogation sequence, segueing from one crew member to another, is my favorite scene this episode. Alan Tudyk was improvising his way through and you will get more of his improv on the bloopers reel. IMPORTANT - Do NOT watch the bloopers reel until you are finished with the show due to scene spoilers.
Keep your thoughts on River as more is revealed as we go. I was glad to see you appreciate Mal compartmentalize crew knowledge regarding the booby trap. It showed Mal was unwilling to panic anyone unnecessarily. Mal figured out one way how Reavers "reproduce". That is why the Reavers did not kill that sole survivor.
The reavers are one of the two great mysteries of the series, the other being River Tam and why The Alliance is so desperate to get her back. So don't worry; you WILL see more of the reavers, but you won't like what you see.
Not my favourite episode but I love watching reactions on it, as I get to see it from a different perspective.
You absolutely NEVER insult Serenity in front of Kaylee.
Really enjoy your thoughtful characterizations of our crew.
Mal’s propensity to keep details to a minimum, expecting to be obeyed, feels like a remnant of his days as a Sargent. Still a soldier, as Badger says.
The downside to that happens when someone doesn’t trust him and then tries to take matters into their own hand . . .
I never really thought of it like you expressed. That the details are his burden to carry as Captain. And he carries them so the crew can focus on their jobs and not panic.
By the end of the episodes and movie, most people come to where Kaylee was in the beginning and can say, “I love my Captain.”
I think this was more of a lore building episode for the reavers and an establishing episode for the power of the alliance. Joss thought he had all the time in the world to lay the ground work and this felt very much like that.
Dakara your thoughts are very interesting. I think you'll be very intrigued with how it all unfolds.
Can't wait!
Not the funnest episode, but definitely important to get that first peek at what Reavers are and what they do.
Serenity is a character herself, though silent. Kaylee and Serenity are girlfriends but pay attention Inara and River also feel it.
"Bushwhacked": What Fox TV did to "Firefly." A riotous ball game leads to a floating body and an object in space with a phantom menace.;)
wow! that is very well put, brilliant! and only when having seen the entire show, you really understand the beauty of your words!
so... 11:00 still want to see Reavers?
They are... the worst imaginings.
Each episode is... self contained but some storylines run through the series. We all have favourite episodes, and our "least" favourite... but they are all good episodes to most of us.
Also the interrogation scenes show how each crew member deals with... pressure. Jayne goes Quiet. Wash uses humour, Anara poise, etc. and it makes a great montage as they switch between them.
Yes, it really is about the cast. That is why I don't agree with those few wanting a reboot.
One has to remember that Firefly was intended to be a long running show (like Buffy and Angel), which was suddenly cut short. Slow episodes (with character building and/or setting thing sup for later on) are valuable in the long-running format.
"You can't just take the ship?" Well they're looting it for parts and things they can use, or potentially sell. The ship itself is registered to someone and there's like all sorts of identifying trackers as I would assume Serenity also has. You take the ship to try to use or sell and it can easily be identified as definitely stolen. It's much like how someone will still a catalytic convertor off a car, but don't consider "Why don't we just take the whole car?" In this case it would be more like taking the convertor off of an abandoned car, but same point, it's a bigger crime and more easily proven. If you salvage the parts to use in your own ship, there's no indication they were stolen or salvaged illegally.
Well, do you really wanna see the Reavers?
Maybe you should think a bit more about that... 😉
Your talk about the series picking up makes me think you have the expectation that the series was planned as a 14 episode ride.
I am sorry to say it wasn't it was cut short of it's full network television season of 22 episodes, in its first of a 5 season plan the creator had.
it might be good taking that into account when looking at the overarching story lines, they thought they had significantly more time than they got.
I thought Bushwacked was a decent episode. We cans still see how terrified everyone is of The Reavers, and with good reason, and when the Alliance Crew board The Firefly it's almost a relief. The Interviews are interesting with Commander Harken where the crew are giving smart answers to Harken. A clever shot with the Alliance commandos searching the ship, and the camera pans out of the window to see them both hiding just outside. Great scene with Mal saving Harken's life at the end.
I love this entire series but if I had to pick a least favorite episode this would be it. Nothing wrong with it of course, it's just a matter of taste.
Thank you for reacting to this Dakara and potentially becoming a fan like so many of us viewers have already
I know what you mean about this episode being slower, but I think it did a lot of heavy lifting in the world-building department. I'll tell ya - this episode is actually my second least favorite of all of them. And I think it's a good episode. But that's how awesome most of the coming episodes are.
I like this episode a bit more than some fans do, but it's definitely still largely table setting. The next couple will start the transition out of that (probably my two least favorites, actually) before the series gets amazing.
Wash
Enjoyed the reaction. Will be with you through the series at least.
Awesome thank you!
What's with fire onna' screen! You Anti-rural?

The weakest of all the episode.
