Something that’s only recently occurred to me about the First is that it works very much like evil works in the real world. Real evil isn’t demons or monsters. It’s the whisper in your ear that you should do something because you want to, or because you think it’s right, or that you’re doing it for the right reasons, or that it may be wrong but it’ll be right in the long term even if some people get hurt or killed along the way.
We saw Spike kills Robin's mother back in season 5's Fool For Love, but with a different actress.
This is a great episode. And it helps paint an even broader picture if you go back and rewatch "Fool for Love".

One of the bigger musical guest-wise (in terms of remembering their name - like Aimee Mann) and there was no singing from Ashanti. I don't think she's done much since the time this episode aired, though. Or perhanps she's just not as big as when the episode came out. 🤷🤷♂🤷♀ I personally never listened to her music, so I don't know either way.
That's such a great note, about one of the final scenes of the episode, how the banter amongst Buffy, Willow and Xander felt like "old school Buffy" ... I love that so much too. It's a lovely light moment I think we need in the midst of all the chaos and darkness that's closing in on them.
What is with people thinking that if they talk slowly enough, those that don’t speak your language will somehow understand you?
In season 5, Episode 7, "Fool For Love," Spike talks to Buffy about killing two slayers, and they show both. One is Asian I believe in China, and the other is Black, on a train or maybe a subway train.

Yes the bad news is that the show is coming to a close. The good news is that the finale is phenomenal imo. Something good to look forward to. Although I am not on Patreon so not sure how far ahead the full reviews are at this point over TH-cam

19:41 Yes. It was Spike. In the episode where Spike tells Buffy how he killed the two Slayers, you see him coveting the Black Slayer’s coat, and we later see him metaphorically skin her dead body by stripping her dead body out of her coat. The same coat the First is wearing in its presentation of Robin’s momma.
You seen the principle's mom before, the episome where Buffy asked Spike about the 2 slayers he killed. The 2nd flashback on the subway and wear he got his jacket from
One of the things that I think slips by most people in this episode is that Buffy says, "Why does everyone think I'm still in love with Spike?" Buffy is admitting she was in love with Spike. This is huge, but it is treated like a throwaway line. But she can't still be in love with him if she never was in love with him. Even if she's not still in love with him. Which I personally think she is, but is still not ready to fully accept he's not who he was yet. Just a very interesting word choice there with that still.
First Date, I think this wasn't a particularly great episode, but entertaining nevertheless. As we have been led to believe we know there is more to Principal Wood, and of course he has an arsenal of knives and swords in a cupboard in the school as you would. When Buffy does go on the date with Wood, we see him in Jackie Chan/Jet Li mode as a martial arts master! We know as well that Xander seemed to get the date too easy with what Anya called the 'hardware whore', both Spike and Anya experiencing jealousy here. When Wood does come clean to Buffy he mentions his mother was a Slayer, and his mother's Watcher raised him. The part Ashanti played was written specially for her as she was a huge fan of the show, and as with Xander's previous experience with women we know that eventually she will be some sort of demon, as Willow said back in Something in S4 Blue to Xander 'you're a real demon magnet'. The First trying to work through Jonathan to Andrew is interesting, however as foolish and cowardly as he is, he seems to be doing the right thing this time. Funny when Willow gets the coded text from Xander trying to decode it. Spike appearing at the restaurant is funny playing gooseberry, but then we see Xander getting stabbed by Lissa/Ashanti. When they turn up to free Xander after the fight and Lissa is defeated, we see Buffy go to Spike, and we see Wood's face. Giles getting fed up of all the comedy is telling, and very telling scene when Buffy says to Spike she wants him to stay. Great final scene with Wood and his mother as The First Evil and telling him Spike killed her. A really good reveal here, that of course we always suspected leading to some great following episodes on that particular theme.
I think a lot of people who hate Willow/Kennedy maybe watched the show when they were a bit on the younger side, they might have this idea of "One True Love" that's very romantic and very unrealistic TBF. Willow has the whooooooooooole rest of her life to live. She deserves to get to still have romance and affection after Tara.
Poor Xander, he really is a demon magnet! Spike was in China for awhile, what are the odds that he understands Chao-Ahn? Loved the signal exchange, "either he got lucky, don't call for awhile, or my date's a demon who's trying to kill me." "Well, if we play the percentages...". "Somethings eating Xanders head.". "Say, that's gratifying.". Nice piece of writing. The humor in this show is very good. So Principal Woods is a vampire hunter, and he knows that Spike is the one who killed his mother. We can see how this will play out. Also I would like to, thank maidden for setting me straight about the reason behind Spike having a soul. You're explanation was perfect.(If I were a professor grading the performance of a debate, I'd give you an A(I don't personally believe in A plus, but you did get close.)) Thank you.

I suspect that there are residual effects from Willow's spell in Something Blue, both for Xander and for Buffy & Spike.
Willow only stated the obvious. Both Buffy and Xander were deep into demon affair long before she cursed them.

In all fairness to amy willow and herbhad the same addiction. Willow choose hers amy had her body stolen and filked with dark magic. She is like a newborn baby born with addiction. Everyone helped willow and said F off amy. Amy newded help not to be shuned

My least favorite episode even if there is funny and good moments
