    "This is not your father's Oldsmobile"-----I remember that was the slogan around the time this car was built. I miss those cars, GM has made a lot of bad decisions over the years (as has the other car makers) Good job getting this old gal fixed! Thanks for sharing! 😎

      Absolutely David. I’ll have a few more videos of it here in the coming few weeks. Bless my man💪🏼😉

    I miss my ‘90 Ninety Eight and would take this Touring Edition in a heartbeat. Good luck getting her all patched up!

      Thank you much. Will have a few more episodes on this car I think. I’ll have a clean up episode, a engine tuneup episode and I’ll probably do a ride along for you all😊

    Thanks for the wiring diagram explanation, I learned a thing or 2, not sure if I'll retain it or not, but at least I learned it. Keep it toned up, you do you! Good to see the Service Truck in action.

    What a lovely way to spend a rainy friday evening! I fought with my crappy 90's GM in the afternoon, now it's time to watch someone else do it :D

    It’s hard not to love the 3800. Definitely one of the best V-6 engines ever made. The pigtail harness that connects on the top of the tank and then connects to the harness on the car have been a huge problem in the past creating high resistance and misdiagnosis of the pump. Dorman and a few others used to sell them. I think NAPA offered them as well.
    You’ll have purring in no time 👍

    • @SwedeMachine
      @SwedeMachine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mmm that could definitely be a culprit. Never thought about that bit. Fantastic idea👍🏼. I had thought if it’s still continues to have issues I’m just gonna run brand new wire back there and see if that takes care of it lol. The owner doesn’t mind putting a new pump in it. That’ll just increase reliability of it in the future. So far I put in a new relay, and the fuse hasn’t popped yet, but only time will tell. Will advise y’all. Next episode will be a wash up then I think a tune up is in order as it looks like it has original plugs in it still. And they’re beyond the .060 GM tolerance gap. Cheers🤘🏼

    Service Rig to the rescue, Yay!! As always great camera work in adverse conditions (at least it was grass and not hot asphalt you had to crawl on!). Also liked the wiring diagram chat/ Ted talk. 😊

    Those were really nice cars. This one looks like the limited number touring sedan version with upgraded suspension, judging by the fact it’s got the console shifter and bucket sears. Great find!
    And I’m sure it’s going to clean up nicely. Looking forward to seeing the clean/detail.

    • @SwedeMachine
      @SwedeMachine  ปีที่แล้ว

      This one is indeed the limited touring sedan trim level. 😀 I think about 4,000 we’re made for this year. It’s lush! I’m working on the cleanup episode right now. 👍🏼

      @@SwedeMachine it’s going to look really good. They have a resemblance to the 90’s Lincoln Town Car. Nice lines, great riding/handling with 4 whl independent suspension, and good mpg as well as decent in the snow. My first job out of high school was selling new Oldsmobiles in ‘89. I definitely have a soft spot for these things.

    • @SwedeMachine

    Got a question, it does not involve this video, I have a onan 4000 watt generator that surges while running. Have you any experience with this issue? Love your videos. I live in Kingston and enjoy your videos. Please respond if you can. Thank you Bob

    • @SwedeMachine
      @SwedeMachine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bob! Engine surges in small engines, in my experience, seem to be primarily caused by a starving fuel system. Not enough fuel in other words. For example jets that would be plugged in the carb, fuel pump barely working, or plugged filter if applicable. I would start there and do a check on all the above. Thanks for watching!

    Basically same set up pump went bad, changed it. Car ran great for a day or 2. Then car died while being drivin, got it towed. Discovered the fuse blew. Replaced and instantly blew when key turn. Unplugged pump still blew Unplugged relay still blew Unplugged oil sensor still blew? Do you know the next step?

    • @SwedeMachine
      @SwedeMachine  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ouch!!! Well if it blows instantly that’s actually a good thing. That means it’s a repeatable problem and not an intermittent problem. But what you’re gonna have to do is get a good factory or good aftermarket wiring diagram study how that circuit is laid out and you’re going to have to get your voltmeter out and test for direct short to ground. Could be a rubbing positive wire on the chassis ground or something with that effect. You’d be surprised at what kind of things shorts haha. Sometimes is the connector themselves that are internally shorted believe it or not. I don’t envy you. You do have some work cut out. Best of luck! Hope you find your gremlins🥴

To each their own in regards to opinions. That’s what makes us different. But it wouldn’t be me. What you see here is who I really am. My poor family lol. As a Christian I follow a different path. I like the current format, and I think it’s here to stay. Family friendly is what I’m aiming for, with maybe a hint of naughtiness here and there. But I’m still weird, and believe it or not, sometimes that still sells 🤪💯. Have a fantastic weekend boss.🙃😊

      Naw, despite the odometer saying 220,000 miles on it, it probably has less than 100,000 miles on it. I was told that the instrument cluster was replaced at one point. It’ll clean up nicely on the next episode. Lots of life left in a 3.8 L V6.
