  • Internationally acclaimed author Reza Aslan discusses his new book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, a compelling and methodically researched biography of Jesus of Nazareth. This book, weighing both gospel and historical truth, strives to answer a simple and profound question: Who was the Jewish peasant who, two thousand years ago, walked across what is now Palestine to gather followers with the goal of establishing the kingdom of God?

It's refreshing to hear a good Muslim scholar. Yes, he is an intellect and We should listen to him.

A PHD doesn't mean anything against a Google Scholar. Dr Aslan has read hundreds of actual transcripts but seems to be corrected by people who has never seen or been in the same room with these historical documents. I am in awe with those who argue the fact that Dr Aslan's book Zealot is biased because he is a Muslim . Would it make a difference if he was atheist or agnostic? I urge all you Wikipedia educated professors to go find one bit of evidence that proves Dr Aslan findings to be false.

Here we have a scholar explaining to a large audience, how a myth is really not so, in the same way that a grown up person might explain how in reality Santa Claus doesn't exist, but it does.

I liked that he pointed out that the Bible writers had an agenda and that the gospels were tantamount, not facts, but he loses me when he says the evidence points to Jesus being illiterate and married. After 30 years metaphysical research and reading arcane lit few read (but reliable) I can tell you that if you are the Godman and tapped into perfect and complete God consciousness you can't be illiterate, period! The second error was Jesus being married. Highly unlikely, (as the Godman and really all true saints, perfect masters, etc are totally uninterested in sex, are beyond it) but if Jesus did marry it was to "fit in" better in society as Mohammed himself did. Mohammed is criticized by the west for having a harem of wives but what few realize is He did it to blend in but had no sexual contact with the women. Ditto probably Jesus (if he was indeed married). This is a vital distinction that Reza knows nothing of apparently.
