- Hello everyone! Welcome back to the channel for another car review which is all about this 2021 Cadillac Escalade. The Escalade is an icon within the modern Cadillac brand and is a leading figure among todays full size luxury SUVs. I'll take a detailed look at the exterior and interior of the Escalade, take it for a drive, and give my thoughts on the vehicle. A big thanks goes out to my Dad for helping me make the video, but an even bigger thanks goes out to Larry and Destinie Moore for letting me borrow their beautiful new Escalade. Happy New Year everyone! I thought a new video would be a great way to start out the new year 😎
This Escalade is absolutely gorgeous. Seen one up close while driving pass me in the opposite direction on the one lane road. Very imposing looking. This model was a Sport Platinum based on the color of the steering wheel which was a lighter color.
It most certainly is an imposing vehicle which is very good because it's an Escalade tradition 😎 Actually, I think the camera may have distorted the color a little bit which could make the interior hard to make out perfectly. I found the window sticker to this Escalade after filming and it is (unfortunately) not a Platinum model, just the sport. Thank you so much for the comment and for watching the video!
Four wheel steering is a good idea. It works very well on the Audi Q8 and SQ8. Good suggestion for the Escalade too. Personally, I'd love them to add double pane acoustic glass on the first and second row side windows as well, like those Audi's also do. Though it's not bad as is, that would make it even better. All in all though, a beautiful, luxury suv. Love the turbo diesel option. I would love to see them add a fold out flat work surface in the front center console somehow too, like the Ford F150's offer, great for putting laptops on and making your luxury Escalade a mobile home office if you want, and sharing a meal with your front passenger too, even playing cards. Good review! You touch on a number of things other reviewers do not. Thumbs up!
I seen the the Cadillac was from Findlay. When riding in the back seat of my Aunt's XT6 and we stopped somewhere, it reminded her that she had a back seat passenger. I thought that was a neat feature, especially when children are dying in hot cars because their parents forgot they had a back seat passenger. Happy 2022 James.

The Escalade is the hottest SUV on the market right now. That interior is insane😱🔥🔥🔥 the TH-cam reviews don’t do no justice. I saw a white Sport Platinum in person with all the options. It even the 6 piston Brembos and I was blown away by the look of it

Thanks for also being genuine, and just being yourself. It's what keeps me coming back. I currently enjoy a 42 year collection of Motor Trend and Car and Driver as well as 3,000 auto brochures, amassed over the years. What was once "new" to me in my teens and 20's are now Classics! Keep doing what you love! You do it well.

So, the way I collected MT and C&D was just getting them monthly in the mail starting at age 13. I never through one away - always boxed and saved. No, I am not a part of a Cadillac club. Oddly enough, I drive a Honda LOL, but I have so many fond memories of the Cadillacs from the 60's and 70's in my childhood and teens. When I go to a classic car show, I always gravitate toward the Cadillacs (and mid 60's Pontiacs). ** Loved your review of the '62 Caddy btw.
I'd love to have a '68 Eldorado without a vinyl roof. As you might know, '68 was the first year the feds mandated the side marker lights, and Cadillac had the coolest rear red side marker's with the caddy emblem and crest and - also cool.... the front corner lights then doubled as side marker lights as well with a separate bulb. '68 was the year that lights were installed in the front fender corners as well instead of a "filler" - so nice. those sharply bladed rear lights!

Yes, my dad and I belong to the North West Ohio Cadillac Lasalle Club. Actually, the Cadillacs we currently have are all relatively new to our family, but my dad has been a Cadillac person ever since he first started driving (his first car was a ‘69 Fleetwood) and we’ve always had at least one Cadillac in the family.

I agree about the Cadillac badging being too monochromatic, I like the old school look, but I'm not who the car is designed for..

Great video James, as usual. One comment, I put on over 150,00 miles on a '16 Escalade ESV, concerning your displeasure with the plastic on the new fob, I can tell you the rubber was nicer, yes, but it completely disintegrated with heavy use. The all windows up or down is a great idea! Thanks for all your work on this video!!👍
Thanks again, Andy! That's a very good point, after a long time of use the rubber wouldn't hold out well on the rubber key fobs. Do you think there is a material that feels better than plastic but lasts just as long that they could use? Making it all out of metal would be too expensive but maybe some sort of softer plastic... And that's neat you put so many miles on that Escalade! It must have been a reliable vehicle for you
@@JW_Reviews has 220,000 on it now, it is used as a Limo, still runs perfectly. VERY RELIABLE!!We had to replace the radiator as it was a factory defect in the seam(I cannot remember if it was recalled), didn't matter as we were way over on the warranty. Brakes and tires about it. And of course lots of oil changes(never go below 0%) on the "change oil" systems computer . Maybe the platinum edition has an upscale fob? 👋👋
Very impressive!! A family friend purchased what I think was a 2016 Escalade brand new. I wasn't in it very often but it was black with a light tan interior and I thought it was a gorgeous vehicle. It now belongs to its second owner and he still drives it and loves it. Maybe I'll have to see if I can borrow it for a review 😁
Fob stays in your pocket these days. 100,000 miles on a 2018 and fob looks brand new. The windows up and down remotely is also on the previous gen Denali.

Happy New Year! You're definitely starting the year off with an amazing review, James.Of course I'd prefer the classic cads, but this seems like a very nice truck. Really like some of the details you showcased here. I do wonder how long it'll be until some of those little electronic doo-dads start having problems, especially the titling headlights. It's cool but idk if they'll still be running once the warranty is over lol.
The audio quality was fantastic! I would suggest adding diesel or duramax to the title; I had no idea the Escalade offered one, and I'm sure people may find it interesting and want to check t it!

@@JW_Reviews I can't necessarily speak for GM's quality, but my son has my old 2010 Lincoln MKT that's pushing 200,000 miles and to our surprise (we were expecting things to start failing too) all the fancy electronics are still functioning just fine. I'm pretty confident the mfr's have the bugs pretty well worked out of these things!

Happy New Year. Enjoyed this review of the 2021 Escalade. In your opinion, is it worth it to get the upgraded version or is the lower end version good enough?
Thank you, Joe! And that's a great question. I haven't been in the Platinum trim of this gen of Escalade which I'm sure is much nicer and has more features. However, considering how expensive this model is (sticker price of around $101,000) I would probably not buy the Platinum trim. But, if it was within my price range I would certainly consider it or even buy a used Platinum a year or two old for the same price. Thanks for watching!

Excellent, comprehensive review. The firm seats, armrests & touchpoint surfaces are due to the dense padding material Cadillac utilizes, which seem to be commonplace in Cadillac interiors nowadays.

It is better for the key to be plastic, with rubber, the buttons eventually fall off and durability goes out the window(My XTS keyfob had this issue). They could have made the key with metal buttons, but the price increases. So while this does provide a cheaper feel, this is a win for durability.

I was talking about putting V6 common rails diesels into American full size SUV 15 years ago ;) Glad they finally did it. As you can see fuel economy is great, but power is also decent. That’s truly dream car for cruising without worrying about refuelling every 300 miles ;)
Awesome review, I have my down payment towards the V version. Probably won't be recieving it until Jan or Feburary of next year but quick question for you. Did this escalade come with the front tinted windows matching the back tint? I ask as I see some do and some dont. I'm not sure if that's something Cadillac provides or you need to go after market getting them tinted as I definitely would want the tint.

Glad I stumbled to your channel, this was an outstanding review. Have been seriously debating picking one up but the fact that there’s no rear wheel steering for such a boat and relatively low range on a full tank of gas has been keeping me off.

However, the cameras are extremely useful and automatic parking helps as well. And I agree about the range, that's one of the big advantages of buying a diesel Escalade. Great video again thank you, keep them going. The keyfob could have changed for a couple reasons rubberized is going to wear and look bad much quicker. Then again the plastic could also be cheaper.

15:50 vw/audi had this for 20 years lol, they go a step further if rain sensor detects rain they can auto close if you left it locked with windows down

I agree! It would be really nice if Cadillac offered a trim above Platinum with softer seats both front and rear. Maybe someday...
One car you should review is the new 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. I am going to get a Lyriq in October of 2023. I have driven a Lyriq and it is an amazing automobile. It's a great new direction for Cadillac. This will be my 12th Cadillac, so I am a Cadillac man through and through.
Love the older Caddy's but the newer ones are very disappointing!! I HAD a 2019 XT5 and it was nothing more than a Jazzed up Chevy Equinox!! Got rid of it in 2021 and now I am very happy in my Lincoln Nautilus. I like watching your channel when you do the older Caddy reviews. By the way, I think you are kind of cute and very well dressed!!!
That's too bad the XT5 wasn't up to snuff with the competition! I believe that if it was to be updated with something like an Escalade interior it would perform much better. Fortunately, the upcoming Lyriq will have a very similar interior as the Escalade which I think will greatly help its performance in the luxury crossover market. Would you ever consider an electric vehicle? Or maybe a hybrid from Lincoln?

Haha, that would be VERY fitting for this car!!
No black wood option on Sport Platinum unfortunately. Only mahogany and cherry colors online. I ordered the burgundy interior with the cherry as I'm tired of the brown wood look.
Not enough interior options imo. Biege, Black with walnut or Auburn with cherry only 3 available with 3 others available in other trim levels of the escalade.
Don't understand why you cannot choose the brandy, parchment or full jet black (black wood) on the highest trim level escalade.

I agree! It would be awesome to have an Escalade EXT again, but apparently one of the problems GM had is that luxury truck buyers didn't want to be seen in a Cadillac but a traditional truck brand. Thank you for watching the video!
