    Great video! We always try to design things to appear as OEM as possible. To the untrained eye this certainly looks like a factory setup. One of the other things that differentiates our product against the competition is that our chargers fit larger phones - the competitions charger is narrower and larger phones do not fit.

      Installed in my ‘21 Silverado last week. Super disappointed, I anticipated a fast charger based on everything you said in this video. Basically my phone gets super hot and “holds” the current charge level. The stock wireless charger in the truck is much better and the phone barely gets warm while using it. Did I get a lemon or something?

      Doesn’t sound right. Something isn’t right. Mine sees multiple phones (family) with regular cases on them and no issues, just faster charging. I would contact BoostAutoParts

      Great engineering. These are actually awesome constraints that you added to the engineering process. Particularly,
      1. being able to hold wider phones
      2. Appear OEM as possible

    Any issues with overheating? I recently purchased the Xipoo wirelesss charger from Amazon which is similar and it even follows same installation instructions as this, but when I place my phone on it, at first it seems to be working okay, but then the light starts blinking and it overheats. Thinking about giving yours a try. This is for a 2021 GMC Sierra with the full center console.

      I have looked into doing this. During that time there weren't any options I was fond of, unless I went totally custom and gutted the old system and did some chopping up of the charging area. I pretty much never use that location for my phone.

    • @Donslife

      Maybe take your armrest apart first and inpect and compare to my video footage. You’ll probably want to tap into the 12v cigarette lighter style adapter too. The harness is long, but could be extended. You could look up the part numbers on a GM parts site and see if the bezel/tray are the same part # first too.

    Great video Don. I chose the boost for the exact same reasons as you (well except for the slow factory charging because I didn't get that feature in my Sierra). I even used the step drill bit like you did for the console lid hole. The only thing I did different was attaching my power wires to the lid hinge with a ziptie so I didn't drill a hole in the plastic for the loom. The loom just fits the gap by the hinge and the ziptie keeps it in place.

    PLOT TWIST: iPhones charge at a maximum of 7.5W on Qi chargers. Regardless what the charger is rated at, your iPhone will limit it to 7.5W. You can get 15W using only a certified MagSafe charger.
    Unless you’re using Androids, this was a pointless mod. Sorry to say.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Samsung phone too. What is the output of the OEM wireless charger? Either it is lower than 7.5watts output or the coil design is less efficient. It could be both. The BoostAuto product does charge our iPhones noticeably faster. No regrets

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Brian, a few people have been asking the sliding question. I wanted to do my own testing first before responding. My specific case has s smooth and not rubbery and so far it has not moved despite the shallow recess. I have had to do some pretty hard stops and no issue. Again, this is with my hard case. I can say I actually love it so far. The rubber mat is pretty grippy on its own too.

      Depends on the plug you’re using. This is 15watts. The wall plugs by Apple for 110v are 5 watts and 12 watts I think. So faster than the 5 watt and probably closer to the 12 watt since there is probably some efficiency loss with the wireless.
