    Omg.. you just saved me. I've had my new Portrait 3 for about a week. I spent countless hours watching videos and adjusting settings because my machine wasn't cutting right. I knew it was a blade issue, just didn't know exactly what. I even tried cleaning the blade and replacing the blade (granted by machine was brand new so made no sense, but I tried it.) Turns out I never locked the blade in. Not a single video showed anybody locking it in, they only showed them pushing it in. THANK YOU SO MUCH for including that part. I wasted so much vinyl and was ready to give up. Thank you

    I’m personally not a fan of the auto blade, went though 3 in a month (cutting about 10 feet of vinyl a day). Also I’ve noticed that it doesn’t adjust the same every time.. like I cut the same design with the same vinyl and works great the first run but cuts though the second run. Vinyl gets stuck up inside it easy also. I love the premium blade though, stays right where it’s supposed to be and lasts ages. Thank you so much for everything you do Lisa, love learning from a master 😁

      Thank you! I had a hard time with the autoblade at first, but now its my ride or die. I have told the blade who's boss. Haha! - TRW Lisa

    Thank you, this helped a lot. However, my blade is still not cutting deep enough for the normal card-stock setting. How do you determine how to adjust it?

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We recommend increasing blade depth or the force, you will likely have to tweak the settings to get it perfect. Hope this helps!

    I have the Cameo 4. Thank you for showing how to take the blade apart to clean. I had vinyl pieces inside and had no idea how to clean it. I had that little tool in my kit but I thought it only went with the blade for the Cameo 3.

    Hi Lisa
    Just found your site and am still struggling with the auto blade. I understand your video and it all makes seance but my question is this.
    1: when fitting the blade to the cameo should the blade setting be at zero and then the machine will set it according to the material I set in the software? or
    2: Does it not matter where the setting is on fitting to the Cameo as the machine will auto zero and then adjust to my material setting as set by the software?
    At the moment I only cut card stock and as I'm in the UK I also have fun converting US card weight to UK gsm
    Peter

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blade will likely start at zero, until you change the setting. If put in correctly, the autoblade should reflect the blade depth setting you have in Silhouette. If they aren't the same, there might be a problem with your connection.

    I have the CAMEO 4 and I believe I need a new auto blade already and silhouette website is sold out! 🥺 will a cricut blade work ?

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually recommend a different blade! We sell an adapter that allows Cameo 4's to use a Graphtec blade. It allows the Cameo to make more intricate cuts, and it's much easier to adjust than an autoblade! We also sell autoblades on our website.

    I have two questions: first, what is the difference between an auto blade A and auto blade B?
    Also, it was suggested to me to use a ratchet blade instead of an auto blade. I cannot find a ratchet blade anywhere on the silhouette site or on Amazon. What is special about the ratchet blade and why can I not find it?

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions!
      Machines have a few slots. One is for a blade, the other can be used with their sketch pens to draw a design vs cut it. Think invitations, etc.
      To find them, search the words Silhouette Ratchet Blade on Google. They pull up all over from Amazon, Walmart, and many more.
      In my opinion, the Autoblade is my blade of choice, but as you craft and learn more, you'll develop the understanding that sometimes it's settings and skill vs the blade type needed.
      Reminder to use the black adapter if you get a ratchet blade. Also reminder with ratchet you have to manually set the depth with the tool, or the hole located by the rollers. My autoblade will just move over and click itself to the number I've set on screen.
      They both are good for the same materials as well. It's really only preference.
      There are MANY types of blades out there for Silhouette. Here's a brief article going over them:

    Are you supposed to adjust the blade before the first use (set red line to 0)?

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be fine without doing it. Just click it up if you ever notice that your blade isn't adjusting. It's like a re calibrate. :) - TRW Lisa

    Hi! I wonder if we can change the blade. I mean, the blade only. If it got fracture or blunt. How can i change the blade?

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the blade need to be replaced, you will have to replace the entire autoblade to include the housing. If you take it apart it will break.

    Can you please explain what is the purpose of autoblade and when do we use on the second carrier blade?

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Autoblades automatically adjust based on your settings and can cut most standard materials! We recommend changing the blade for a different one if you're cutting a lot of thick material or very fine details. They all work better for something specific, but the autoblade is a master of (most) trades.

    i just bought mine and I am learning a lot. My issue is that the red line in the autoblade will not move from 0. I have already tried the manually clicking and still nothing. Maybe the blade was not good to begin with? It is only 2 weeks old. ?

    Lisa what is other slot used for

    • @TheRhinestoneWorld
      @TheRhinestoneWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's just a secondary carrier. Some people like to keep an extra blade in there if they don't want to use the autoblade. Other people like to use it for sketch pens to do sketching and cutting in the same pass. - Lisa

      It actually doesn't matter, it will change to whatever you specify in the software after you put it back! Just make sure to press until you hear the loud click!
