You're welcome! Yes, the Autoblades have been in short supply! Swing Design has been getting some in stock lately, but they sell out as fast as they are re-stocked. If you look on their product page, you can request to be emailed when the blades come back into stock.
It depends on what I'm cutting. I use the Autoblade and ratchet blade most often but there are certain materials (such as faux leather) that I prefer to cut with a Premium Blade. Tool Holder 2 is for blades that require more force - the rotary blade, the punch tool, and the 3mm Kraft blade.

watched your video again today. I have that blue top one and when I put it in the gray adapter - it just won't close all the way. I know it's in there properly. is my adapter bad? I am tossing my autoblade and hopefully using either the ratchet blade (which fits fine in its' holder, but the blue topped blade just doesn't allow the holder to close all the way. it won't snap closed.
I think you’re referring to the Premium Blade. The newer style of premium blade has a fin like the ratchet blade and goes in the black adapter. The older model Premium Blade without the fin goes in the gray adapter.
What is the difference in the numbers for the deep cut blade. I know one is red and one is blue but what are the difference in the numbers? One goes to 10 and one goes to 20 right? Just want to k ow the difference. Thank you!
Yes, the blue goes to 10 and the red goes to 20. If you look at the part where the blade comes out, you will see a large red portion surrounded by a blue portion. When the blade is at 1, you will see both the red and blue portions sticking out when viewed from the side of the blade. As you increase the blade depth, the blue portion slowly disappears so that only the red portion is visible. So if you see the blue portion, the blade is set somewhere between 1-10. If you see ONLY the red portion, the blade is set between 11-20. Each number is 1/10 of a mm, so a setting of 10 is a blade depth of 1mm and a setting of 20 is 2.0mm.
I do have a question. I have an Silhouette Cameo 4. Can i cut 2mm chipboard? I tryed this, but it does not cut deep enough. I cut it with 2mm craft blade. I hope it is possible. Thank you for now. Kind regards from Holland, Sandy
Hi Sandy! The Cameo 4 should be able to cut 2mm chipboard, but if the chipboard is a true 2mm depth you may need the 3mm blade (so that the blade depth is slightly deeper than the exact depth of the chipboard). I also recommend that you try making multiple passes to get a successful cut. Hope this helps!
Silly question, the premium blade is there a front and back to it e.g. when you change the blade depth do you need to make sure the blade is facing a certain angle, hopefully explaining myself, just trying to find the right die cut setting for my new premium blade after the auto blade that came with my machine is faulty. The premium blade I have doesn’t have a fin. The auto blade doesn’t rotate when the cut depth is changed but my premium blade does. I’m a beginner so would love some help when you have time
@@beccifurnell9521 - Not a silly question at all! The old-style Premium Blade (without the fin) goes in the grey adapter. There is no specific direction that it needs to face. The adapter can move freely around the body of the blade but that should not change the blade depth. I find it easiest to adjust the blade depth before you place the blade into the adapter, but you can adjust it while in the adapter if you squeeze lightly on the part of the adapter just above the numbers on the blade. I hope that helps!
I have tried turning my premium blade every which way and it still doesn't fit into the housing.. Mine has a T on it and it doesnt seem to fit in no matter what I do...

Absolutely! The Premium Blade can be used in any of the Silhouette cutting machines. You only need the adapter when using in a Cameo 4. Hope that helps!

very help and detailed. I wondered what that little gray thing was for that was included when I bought the ratchet blade. one more question (for now) on adjusting tools. my first 'run' at using my 15" cameo was awful. I did not use the mat. it cut partially but only partially. I used the autoblade. I watched a video where he showed to take that little tool with 2 holes in it - to make sure the autoblade was seated properly by turning it using that little tool. what I don't know is how to tell if it IS seated in there properly. That tool apparently tightens the part that covers the blade. it seems to have a spring action. If you push down on it - you can see the blade pop up. still not sure why my test cut was so awful. I tried moving it over and cutting again, but apparently don't know how to do that either? it kept cutting in the same spot. I increased the pressure of the autoblade and that basically ripped the vinyl. can you help or direct me to a video that might? I do not find the cameo very intuitive. I have a cricut maker also and may have to use that for now. but I do love the silhouette business edition of software. I find that superior to design space and I've been using that for well over a year. saving to svg and then opening in design space to cut on my cricut maker.
Hello! Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment. I can think of a few possibilities as to why the vinyl isn't cutting. On my Cameo 4, I always have to increase the blade depth to 2 in order to cut vinyl. I often have to increase the force as well, but I have not had to go above 15. Another thing you might try is changing the Action from "Auto (Cut)" to "Cut". I've found that to make a difference in how well it cuts. The cap needs to be tight, but don't overtighten it because that could crack the housing on the blade. You also need to make sure that the red line on the Autoblade is actually moving as you hear the tapping sound. That's the only way to know if the blade is truly adjusting. Some things that can cause it not to adjust are: not being seated properly in the holder, not being fully locked in, the carriage being out of alignment, debris in the adjustment holes (unlikely for you since the machine is new), or a loose cap (which you've already checked). I actually like to use an uppercase B for a test cut instead of the built-in test cut in the software. You can place the B anywhere you want on the design page, but I like to start with it in the lower right corner because I can check the cut without unloading the mat. Hopefully the above suggestions will be of some help to you. Your videos would be helpful to her. I do have another question. Will Silhouette Studio send cut files to cutters other than Cameo? I am now wondering if it will send to my Panther cutter?

All of the machines have a bit of a learning curve, but it's a little steeper with the 15-inch and 24-inch machines. To my knowledge, Studio will not send jobs to any other brands of cutters. However, just like with your Maker, you can save as an SVG and import the files to whatever software your cutter uses (assuming it accepts SVGs - most do, but I am not familiar with the Panther).

I've been working in graphics for 40 years and a typical vinyl cutter. then got my cricut maker but really wanted a contour cutter for print and cut and since the US cutters are out of my budget - I thought I'd give Silhouette a try.......wish me luck.. maybe the normal size will work for me. it does enable you to make LONG cuts. not sure if it will print and cut the long stuff. guess I'll find out.

No, unfortunately not. The Type A Autoblade is only for the Cameo 3 and Portrait 2. The Type B Autoblade is for the Cameo 4 and Portrait 3. They are not interchangeable.

Heard they last even longer and the blades are cheap.

I think the blade was rotating as I was moving the body of the blade inside of the number part

For what is other 4 blades? I recive only one white blade and 4 caps (white, black, blue, grey)
Only the white AutoBlade comes with the machine. The other blades are sold separately.
Is the CBO9 a rachet or a deep cut blade? I saw that someone put it into the cameo 4 #1 Adapter (the grey one).
I don’t use the CB09 blade so I really can’t advise you on that. I do know that it adjusts more like the deep cut blade than the ratchet blade though.
