Dude, I'm gonna be straight up honest here. If you want curly hair to go to straight hair then you have to apply the pomade straight from roots to tips. Because if you apply a pomade just to the top of your hair, especially if the pomade is a light pomade, then you will get more of a wavy or curly look instead of a straight one. I know that as a fact because I used to do that myself before I applied pomade from the roots up.... Anyway, you do have great curly hair.
Hey there. For light pomades, that probably is the best thing for the hold, but since pomades are mainly petrolatum (Vaseline), that is bad for your pores in the sense that it will clog your pores and you will likely begin to lose hair. Pomade is great for the hair though, so using pomade on the top and letting the comb spread it throughout is a good way to keep it from clogging your pores. Thanks for your comment!
For those of you who say that "Murray's makes your hair fall out". I'm gonna call bullshit on that and I'll give you my reasons why it is bullshit: Whenever I apply Murray's Pomade on damp hair after I towel dry my hair I always look at the palms of my hands after I apply the very sticky pomade from roots to tips I rarely see any more that three hairs on my hands.

Modern Vintage Lifestyles, I know that pomade could clog up pores. That's why I tend to lean more towards hair tonics instead of pomade.
