    I miss these cars battling it out on the racetrack. I loved that these cars all had different voices. This to me was an exciting time in motorsports that is sadly gone.

    Group C was the epitome of endurance racing prototypes. So many great cars and a variety of motors: rotary, Flat 6, v6, v8, v10, v12, NA, and turbos.

    I really appreciate seeing the close ups in the various garages you put in at the beginning. Seeing the machinery with out the body work reveals the things that interest me. Taking my camera through the pits I used to shoot photographs like that and it seem to upset or at least puzzle some crews. Spectators are supposed to take pretty pictures of pretty cars. I wanted to see all the linkages that made up the front wheel assembly or portray the workmanship in the beautiful curves of an exhaust system. They probably thought I might be a spy.

      Back in 2014 there was a 767B racing in this revival championship but then I don't know what happened to it. 787B are extremely rare to see in action, they only show up at events in Japan, sometimes at Le Mans Classic or at Goodwood. Plus it seems I'm kinda repellent to Mazda Group C cars :/

      @mooncalf_4534 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@19Bozzy92 Aren't they also literally dangerously loud? Like, 787Bs were louder than jets on take-off so it's probably, sadly, not a great idea to have 'em flying around deafening anyone within a 500 meter radius lol

    • @slowdriver6868
      @slowdriver6868 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mooncalf_4534 they were so loud that marshalls at Le Mans had to radio each other just to notify them that the 787B was coming so they could put their hands over their ears, and in a nearby cafe the sheer noise of the R26B made the teacups and saucers fall off of the tables. So yea, it was loud.

Like all of these, it's a piece of history, was driven by Desire Wilson/Lyn St James & Cathy Muller in the late 80s/early 90s i think. I find these Group C cars are so much more interesting than modern hypercars and prototypes... maybe the new SGC 007 will make things more interesting.

    • @deggis4
      @deggis4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      787B is a Le Mans winning car but it was never a fast single lap or race pace car. Exemplified by the fact that in the 1991 Le Mans it won its best qualiflying time was 12 seconds slower than the pole time.

    • @keso_de_bola1750
      @keso_de_bola1750 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction... That was the C11 which raced against the XJR12 and the 787... And yes, the 787 were regularly demolished by the Jags and Mercs back then. That car was nowhere in terms of pace. In fact after their 1991 le mans win, the best result they can muster up is 5th in the Nurburgring.

      @19Bozzy92  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, they are cars made by privateer teams and small manufacturers with low budget. Since costs to develop Group C cars and race them in the championship were increasing, FIA created a subclass called Group C Junior (later called Group C2). Cars were made slower than the factory 'C1s' but at least those teams could race all togheter at major events. Trying to make a comparison, it's as in the current WEC championship: LMP1 and LMP2 cars

    Bozzy i wonder, if ever these cars were put on track, the tyres wear, right?
    So with that question, do the preservers usually replace the tyre on the wheel as well?

      Usually after about 10 years, even unused tyres will crack and wear, making them near unusable, and quite ratty-looking. So most cars, even super-well-preserved old ones, usually get replacement tyres. Seems to be just about the only thing people don't care about not being original!
