This is not a fuel cell, it's totally the opposite. This electrolytic cell does the opposite by using electricity to separate the H2O into hydrogen and oxygen. A fuel cell will use the hydrogen and oxygen reaction that turns these atoms into the water molecule (h2o) to generate electricity.
Pure hydrogen burns, but it does not explode like when both oxygen and hydrogen are mixed. But if we want to increase its intensity, we need to add some oxygen to the hydrogen to produce a powerful ignition!
You know, there is no hokus pokus here it's what you see is what you get. The 2 cells are connected underneath because those have holes that connects in the middle cell. Either one of them doesn't mixed because their excess goes in the middle cell

If you mix both the hydrogen and the oxygen you can create a bomb so fuel cell are made to separate them. If you can make a bigger version of this pem fuel cell you can connect the hydrogen to the engine and then mix gradually the oxygen to the output of hydrogen then you can make an engine run by it. Don't worry of the voltage supply because the car alternator can supply the necessary voltage and amperes since it can reach up to more the 60 amperes.

Membrane is not necessary as long as you can avoid the bubbles from entering the other side of the tube. Here I use no membrane because the tube in the middle has small holes on the base on both sides.
Lucky holes small enoff thst you dont flash back... or is there a flash back reducer im not seeing i used copper wool to make mine by jabbing it in the hose i blew up my bubbler not having one lol big kaboom

How much voltage?
I think about 12vdc 2 amps but higher is better to produce more hydrogen. I use distilled water with added Sodium Hydroxide to it.
