Anybody making one of these: DO NOT USE STAINLESS STEEL!! Stainless steel contains chromium, and although the metal does not appear to degrade, it is the chromium that is consumed. Electrolysis will leach chromium out of the anode in the form of hexavalent chromium ions. These ions are highly toxic, are harmful to the environment and are also very carcinogenic (causes cancer). Water that can become highly saturated with hexavalent chromium from using stainless steel electrodes can irritate the skin upon contact (like bleach or industrial paint thinner), and is also illegal to poor down residential drainage systems. You don't want to poison the water shed with this stuff! PLEASE DON'T USE STAINLESS STEEL. A much better, safer alternative is copper. The best choice, though more costly, are platinized electrodes because they will never degrade in the electrolysis reaction.
Search for "platinized titanium" on Google and a lot of search results for retailers that sell good electrodes will pop up. I personally prefer the mesh-type electrodes because of increased surface area.
Copper can easily be replaced, but if you use stainless, the electrodes will eventually begin to rust after all the chromium is consumed and you'll need to replace the water just as much, if not more, than with copper. If you use copper (II) chloride in the very low concentration as your electrolyte in conjunction with copper electrodes, you can actually manage to never replace your electrodes by simply switching the polarity of the electrodes every so often because copper from the anode would disassociate into the solution as copper in solution plates the cathode. When you reverse the polarity routinely, you should end up reversing the electrode that is dissolved and the one that is plated. Make sure you use distilled water instead of tap water and very low concentration if you use this method, though, because otherwise you may begin producing chlorine gas in place of oxygen...which is generally a very, very bad thing. Because you don't care about separating oxygen and hydrogen from one another, you may even consider using an alternating current source, as opposed to a dc source like a battery.
+Solo Socks A nice tip for making one of these with copper is that you can buy copper pipe of multiple diameters and put them inside of each other like nesting dolls. You can make the outside tube one of the electrodes and the very inside tube the other. just make sure to space them with some sort of nonconducting material because otherwise they won't work as well.

This is the first video of his that I've watched. But if he created a generator then yes it would all be free :D
Not free it uses energy and that is not free unless it is solar etc
Zee Butfudgers Of course I know that lol. What I meant was free as in no more money after it's built :)............assuming it doesn't need to be maintained.
Zee Butfudgers You build a generator for the fuel converter to run on. You get free fuel and from free electricity.
Ghost of Justice As in $...........but of course we all know that ^-^
I will never forget this project

2012: No
2013: Still no
2014: Nope
2015: Wait few years more
2016: Not today buddy
2017: Nah
2018: Next year maybe?
2019: Right now is **PERFECT**
Nope, not for me! Watched it for the first time in 2013 or 2014
Yup
Have you tried storing the gas for later use? If so, how?
Thanks for the video. Great stuff.
Idk how you probably could but too dangerous I think because any small spark can cause a huge explosion
rest in peace, you taught me alot, thank you, bless your family and children
what about him
@@leenaibrahim1428 what do you mean?
I mean you blessed for his family and children ,what about him
R.I.P I loved these videos they were just unique and cool. Now they make candles
R.I.P to the KING, you will be greatly missed.
What happened to the guy?
Accident?
@@slawiankrzywinski432hz a paragliding accident
if my cousins saw this video, my house'd be flown to the moon
Man you should totally sell this, I'll be the first one to buy.
I'd definitely buy one
They've been around for a long time. It's called a Browns Gas generator.
Every one should make one
Want to buy .don't know to diy
I would definitely buy one whenever someone puts it up for sale
It has really changed over the years and is nostalgic in many ways
Best video ever, RIP
Grant I have a question could you use this design to create fuel for your mini metal melting Foundry as a substitute for propane and if so I would love to see it
From what I understand these systems dont create enough usable gas as of yet. It takes just as much energy to split the gas as you get out.
built the foundry. And that is a hood idea. Telk me how it turns out. I might just do it myself.
@@gregrohs6688 it will take more to split it.
@TheCaser78 and did it work??
@TheCaser78, Hydrogen burns much hotter than Propane and it's completely clean energy if you use something like solar or wind or water turbine power to run the hydrolyzer.
It's so sad that he died in what was most definitely an accident :( he makes the work of Stanley Meyer seem so simple and accessible-who was a victim of another tragic and completely accidental death-rest in peace, kings
Wonderful project ! What is the ratio of energy used to create the Hydrogen gas compare to the energy available in the Hydrogen gas produced ?
TKOR 2012: how to make fuel from water TKOR 2020: we dehydrated a hotdog
Or melt 50pounds of crayons and and see what happens
I am sad
Rip, you are always the King of Random.
@Zack Smith only for a while
He will be the only king of random...😭
now, how to store and use the fuel?
+Robeon Mew hydrogen fuel cell
+Robeon Mew you already have it stored in so what would you want to use this fuel for? Be sure purchase his PDF for instructions and to support these projects.
DoctorMason planning to use it to propel an ironhorse MTX bike
+Robeon Mew Fuel and oxidizer stored premixed, what could possibly go wrong?
+Robeon Mew Not by compressing it that is for sure, if you want to compress it as they do in hydrogen fuel cells you have to remove all of the oxygen, if any is present when you try to compress it, it will immediately ignite.
R.I.P. Thank you for all this beautifull videos you made for us all. 😪
Is there a specific volt and amperage required? Could you maybe experiment with variations to find out what produces the most. For instance 12v at 1 amp vs 1v at 12 amps and similar variations.
Ur an engineer right, if not then ur a genius
genius either way
No, he's an engineer. This is a very commonly known. In fact, if you seen the movie The Martian, the guy does the exact opposite and converts hydrogen fuel into water.
+Josue Sánchez I've seen it, its amazing
how many times do the cops get called to your house?
Awesome presentation. 👍👍
another man who discovered water for fuel taken from us
This is my favorite project! Rest in peace the king of random.
so, do any metals on the anode or cathode get dissolved while making it
He won't see this soz. He sadly died 21/11/19
@@stangy94 I did here about the death last year, it's so sad. I think there is a team continuing on with the work
@@mattdathew2794 yes but they aren't doing projects like these and I don't like the new projects
This is the king of random videos I miss I suppose its still the king of random just more g rating now
