The flour thing is 1000% legit. In my science class many many years ago we use to make this happen on a much smaller scale. This is why places that work around stuff like wood dust and flour are heavily ventilated.

Silos, wood mills, etc all need special precautions to prevent it. You can actuall file off fine metal filings and throw them into a ordinary campfire and they'll burn different colors :)
There is something interesting about the threat Robert made at 10:39 to his former squad. He said that it was unfortunate that he couldn't kill them twice. Miles said that his brother had to be remembered, otherwise it is as if he has died twice. Robert took note of that, which means he desired for those men to not only die, but also be forgotten.
The flour when aerosolized can be flammable, so will baby powder. First time I was introduced to this reaction was in high school chemistry class. Look up lycopodium powder, that's most likely what was used in the movie. Grain dust in grain silos are very dangerous just because of the explosive nature of fine particles floating in the air under the right conditions can level a silo.
Take a pinch of non dairy creamer and drop it over an open flame and watch it flare. Wheat grains, flour, creamer, all kinds of powders can be used to explode that aren't normally flammable. Don't think sugar works, but can't remember. Maybe powdered sugar.
Sam was played by veteran actor Orson Bean. For anyone like me who grew up in the 60's,70's and 80's Bean was a regular fixture on TV panel game shows like "To Tell the Truth" and many others. He guest starred on many TV shows until his death in 2020 when he was sadly struck by a car while walking near his home. He was always a great funny story teller when he did the game shows or appeared on whatever talk show he did.
Wow I didn't recognize him - Orson. Glad you mentioned that. So sad he was struck by a car. I remember him being very funny years ago. But he was Very good in this role ..

Flour, when mixed with the right amount of oxygen is very explosive and flammable. The CQC (close quarter combat) he uses is very accurate and effective. You would be surprised how often highly trained intelligence operatives, spikes, kites go bad. The private military contractor tends to be a good way to keep them working while supervised so long as the private contractor corporation doesn't turn to the dark side.

Denzel.... "The Hurricane", my favorite early career movie. "Philadelphia" co-starring with Tom Hanks. "Training Day", his all time best work. "The Magnificent Seven", charismatic late career role.
Your mention of Chloe Grace Moretz in your recap of the first Equalizer film sparked a memory of another intense performance of hers: in the horror film Let Me In, she did a great job playing a vampire - she made the character both very sympathetic and terrifying, not an easy combo to pull off. Pedro Pascal also plays one of the lead characters in Narcos, one of the cops who is after Pablo Escobar. Also a great performance.
That Flour explosion is possible, since the dust particles when suspended in the air are flammable. They have a whole science experiment called "Exploding Custard" that works in a similar way
HELLLOO!!! I remember this tv show from the eighties (yup, I’m old) and the premise is that he helps those who can’t help themselves. Popular trope (A-Team) from that era. I think there’s another tv show with Queen Latifah as the lead.
If there's a lot of flour, dust, or anything with small particles like that floating around in the air it is EXTREMELY flammable. Grain silos would explode if any kind of spark or heat source happens within one because of the dusty air. Now-a-days they would do things like pump inert gases like nitrogen or argon into the silos so that there's less oxygen in there since it's the oxygen that combusts.
As astonishing as it may sound, the fact is that flour dust is more explosive than gunpowder and 35 times more combustible than coal dust. However, it is not explosive in small, non-dispersed quantities. For example, if you burn a small pile of flour sitting on top of your kitchen counter, it won’t explode since it’s not dispersed in a cloud-like form. The case is different when dealing with airborne flour particles, as they have ample oxygen to fuel combustion. Combine that formula with multiple secondary dust sources in a confined space, add an ignition source, and you have a recipe for a chain reaction that could lead to an explosion. During the past 35 years, more than 500 incidents have been reported in flour mills across the U.S., which have caused more than 180 deaths and 675 injuries. This represents an accurate picture of how destructive exploding flour can be. Posted on January 16, 2020 by HafcoVac in Blog, Flour and Food
Denzel is so watchable. You could just randomly pick any one of his movies and have a good time. Outside of the equalizer, which I have watched many times, probably the others I have most watched are Deja Vu and Inside Man.
I watched the original TV series in the 80s and this film, with his Lyft driving and all the smaller vignettes with the various side characters, completely channeled that vibe of the original show, with McCall helping out various people - layered in with the main story with Melissa Leo's character. So glad to see you guys do this one. (and the scene with McCall and the kid after he gets him out of the gang hideout is straight up fire. SO good.).
It's worth watching the equalizer series from the 80's starring Edward woodward it fills in the gaps about his past ..there was 88 episodes altogether over 5 seasons!
It was flour. When it's aerated like that, the fine flour has more surface area mixed with an abundance of air. Fire only needs three things...air, fuel and an ignition source. The fan spread it throughout a large area. With it igniting so fast in a contained area....explosion.
When you said "he stabbed that guy everywhere", it made me think of The Hunted with Benicio Del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones. Check it out if you havent... Jones' character at one point during a training scene with knives says "make this cut a good power assist, youre looking for his backbone"

Another great one. Bit of geek science here. Flour DOES burn like that! bit it has to be airborne & in its smallest particles. For a fun little experiment to test this, & THIS MUST BE DONE OUTSIDE! AWAY FROM FLAMABLE ITEMS!!! Take a candle & a tea spoon of flour. Light the candle & from a distance of a metre or so away, blow the flour onto the flame, if not just above the flame so the flour falls down a little. Hope everyone is having an amazing week & much love to all from here in the UK
EQ2. Another kick-a** sequel. It just never ceases to amaze in having one of the great actors of all time in a well-honed action thriller. I think the word you're looking for is "episodic", which is when each episode is a standalone story (eg things like SVU, Star Trek etc.) contrasted with "serialised" which is when there's a larger story played out bit by bit over the whole season (eg Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones). "Procedural" refers to a show in which the "procedure" makes up the content, typical in cop shows where the cops finding evidence and tracking down the bad guy is the subject of the show.
Nice job! Much of both of these were filmed on the north shore of Boston in my home towns.- East Boston, Chelsea, Everett & Lynn. The scene, where Denzel jams on the breaks and kills the would be assassins with the knife, in his car, ends on the corner of Chelsea & Bremen street. That's where you'll find one of the best pizza joints in the world - Santarpio's! It's right outside of Logan airport, so if you ever find yourself in Eastie, ENJOY!
Flour in the air is a serious explosion risk provided it is in sufficient quantity. Medieval mills worked dawn to dusk as there could never be a candle or any form of spark as the mil would explode like a bomb.
Edward Woodward played McCall in the tv series. He's the CCTV guy in 'Hot Fuzz.' He also played Callan, in a late 60s, early 70s UK tv show of the same name, about a govt assassin. The 1974 movie ''Callan,'' based on the first ep [ and original novel ] is well worth a look.
Getting a full break like in the movies is very hard. It takes quite a bit of torque to fully "snap" a neck. But even if it doesn't break you could be in a halo for a while.
I'd think if the break were complete, then the nerves can't send signals to the heart to keep beating, so death would be immediate. I worked in a chiro office and the chiropractor said it does require a lot of force to break a neck, more than what's applied during adjustments. I still didn't want my neck adjusted (as a job perk) that way, I asked for the activator to be used. But I'm always tense, so my neck muscles were and having someone pull on them in that condition is not good.
Robert McCall gives people what they need. Those that need help, they get it. Those that need a lesson, they get it. And those that deserve violence, they get that.
i saw E3 in the theaters and i was surprised at how much i liked it. i tell people it was like 'john wick' meets 'anthony bourdain' lol. sicily is a character in the movie.
I saw EQUALIZER 3 eight* times in the theater. I might try to go back one more time. I can't help it. I want to marry it. It's in Italy so it's automatically way better. 🥰🤤 I can't wait 'til you guys get to it. 🙏🏼 *Ok. One time I had to leave 5 minutes early to catch the bus but it still counts. 😁
Glad to see you both see this. Kind of more vicious kills overall I think, but also I agree more suspense then action, but that's fine to keep things mixed up foe this sequel I feel. I love the mentor relationship in this about as much as the first one, maybe slightly more because there was more interaction and discussion, and I loved that scene after he took Miles from the gang, powerful and his acting strength was masterfully executed. Great watch! I hope you both see some more great Denzel movies like John Q. Have a great day/night, and thanks for another great vid!
@@w1975b if they knew miles was seeing him then why did one of the say who is he and did they have confused looks or there faces like they did not know who he was or cause they were surprised he came in the like that
Pedro played a very flamboyant villain in the second Wonder Woman movie, and he was a kind-of villain in a recent movie with Nicolas Cage. Even when he plays bad guys they are always interesting so whenever you see him in anything now its like another commenter said, a 50/50 shot whether he's a hero or the bad guy. But your going back and forth on him in this movie had me laughing.😅 Another great reaction guys, thank you! 💜👍
Flour or grain dust can explode like that if enough fine particles get in the air and it ignites. Just google grain elevator explosion, it's a major problem.
Yes flower will do that Any fone powder will ignite and explode thats why its very important when you have a kitchen fore not to jist throw a bunch of fine powder onto a flame. Its best to smother a fire out instead of throwing anything at it. Cover and smother as beat you can.
Great reaction. I also enjoy these movies. I would also recommend Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films, starring Robert Downey Jr. & Jude Law.. I think you and Sam would enjoy them very much. Perhaps you could consider putting them on your "Period Action/Adventure" poll. Best wishes to you both and greetings from Nigeria. ~ KJ
27:30 Flour, cornstarch, sugar, pretty much anything that contains starch is combustible. They present dust explosion hazards if dispersed as a fine dust in air in sufficient concentrations and can be devastatingly dangerous. (Look up New Taipei Waterpark incident) For this scene, how explosive is flour? Flour has a minimum explosive concentration (MEC) of 0.05 ounces per cubic foot of volume while its optimum explosive concentration (OEC) is about 0.5 to 1.0 ounces per cubic foot. That's 35 times more explosive than coal dust, and by extension, more powerful than gun powder.
The word you're thinking of, I think, is 'anthology', not 'procedural'. 'Procedural' refers to mostly cop shows that detail the procedures used to solve crimes.
I enjoyed your reaction. I hope you'll watch more movies with Denzel. He directs and acts in THE GREAT DEBATORS and ANTOINE FISHER is an awesome story. Think :Good Will Hunting" with Denzel playing the role of the therapist.

i saw E3 in the theaters and i was surprised at how much i liked it. i tell people it was like 'john wick' meets 'anthony bourdain' lol. sicily is a character in the movie.
The Mandolorian is his main squeeze. Pedro is about to do a Star Wars movie. The Last of Us is a change of pace for him.
I saw EQUALIZER 3 eight* times in the theater. I might try to go back one more time. I can't help it. I want to marry it. It's in Italy so it's automatically way better. 🥰🤤 I can't wait 'til you guys get to it. 🙏🏼
*Ok. One time I had to leave 5 minutes early to catch the bus but it still counts. 😁
Life is good. But it could be better! lol Just not for Pedro's character. He done Effed up.
13:13 That slow-motion walk-off… 👊
The Equalizer was a british series in the 70s with Edward Woodward it was fabulous
Robert McColl is a former CIA operative xx
Great movie! Love your reactions!
Yes flour is highly flamable in large quanities.
I'm surprised the gang members didn't come after him. They knew Miles knew him.
But your going back and forth on him in this movie had me laughing.😅
Another great reaction guys, thank you! 💜👍
Have you not heard of grain silo explosions? The grain dust is quite volatile. It just takes a spark. Those silos must be well ventilated.
In the first train scene he killed the first guy with a glasses Len , Ik pretty awesome
Flour or grain dust can explode like that if enough fine particles get in the air and it ignites. Just google grain elevator explosion, it's a major problem.
Pretty much any type of powder is combustible. The finer the powder the greater the effect
Awesome! - Btw, there's two more Bourne movies to react too. Please do.
Yes flower will do that
Any fone powder will ignite and explode thats why its very important when you have a kitchen fore not to jist throw a bunch of fine powder onto a flame. Its best to smother a fire out instead of throwing anything at it. Cover and smother as beat you can.
You guys really have to see Training Day now. Love your reactions always!
~ KJ
another great reaction from the best reactors on TH-cam👍
Hey guys is been a long while I miss ya♥️♥️✌️
27:30 Flour, cornstarch, sugar, pretty much anything that contains starch is combustible. They present dust explosion hazards if dispersed as a fine dust in air in sufficient concentrations and can be devastatingly dangerous. (Look up New Taipei Waterpark incident)
For this scene, how explosive is flour? Flour has a minimum explosive concentration (MEC) of 0.05 ounces per cubic foot of volume while its optimum explosive concentration (OEC) is about 0.5 to 1.0 ounces per cubic foot. That's 35 times more explosive than coal dust, and by extension, more powerful than gun powder.
aerosolized flour is explosive. its brilliant.
18:18 makes me tear up every time
Wonderful reaction!
