Those lights being loud is actually realistic. Before LED lightbars came out, the old rotator and strobe light bars were loud. When I was a police officer we had rotating lights with halogen flashers. You could hear the rotators and flashers even when sitting in the car. I miss those old rotators.

The red thing on top is a long-range PKE detector. And yes, Dan Ackroyd designed most of the props for the car including the PKE detector as well as coming up with names and descriptions for what everything did. Baseline PKE cell. Main power cell. Proton pack pump-out connection. Turbopump Set. Ectoplasm Analysis unit. Positive and negative polarised spectral foam detectors etc etc
Also called the “sniffer”
I hope Blitzway make the Ghostbusters: Afterlife version of Ecto-1 (with a gunner seat and RTVs).

It be broke first week or day, the sulking face of disappointment too lol too be honest im glad they didnt make it in 80s i had a brother who destroy it like he did most of my diecast collectibles that were very limited. Put this way my brother destroyed my love for collecting back then and one of reasons why i hate him.

😔 i dont know why im torturing myself im addicted to watching different videos of this, i love this car, still massive fan of Ghostbusters and cant wait for Afterlife. God damn it, i so wish i had the funds for this collection its beautiful. I still love the whine of the siren, now i feel like a kid again im just watching, now i want to watch the movies lol.
The detail is absolutely incredible, wow, even down to the collapsed seats!
If I were to get one I think it would be awesome to make it into an RC car,(obviously just for tooling around, not for any kind if speed) , may as well for how much it costs
Yea like you mention they’re far too heavy for RC! You can order a 1:10 scale Caddy hearse RC body then buy a 1:10 model kit and add the parts to the Lexan body yourself! I’m doing it to a DMC BTTF2 Drift car!
From someone who drove the cars that used those light bars (as well as had a decent collection of even older ones) the noise is actually accurate! LOL In a situation where you had to sit in the car with the lights on for an extended period of time (blocking closed roads and such) it would be maddening. Even the old strobes weren't much better with their constant clicking and whirring, like an old camera flash.

Amazing piece, the fingers make it look even better. I've never heard of Blitzway re-releasing an item, and I've been buying from them for years.
Do you think they could release a ECTO-1A version as a re-issue of ECTO-1?
@@max.seher.3 it's possible since it's a different look, but honestly I doubt it. They would have to receive a lot of requests from collectors to make that happen.

Love the tour of the ECTO-1. One of the nicest collectibles I have ever seen.
Definitely would want to get one for display especially for my kid to see why it's such an iconic emblem for the 80's when I grew up. Reminds me of when I saw the movie in theaters as a kid

WOW. I was watching Adam Savage's Tested channel. He's building this model from the kit and he's still working on the engine block and may never finish the thing. It was a pleasure to see the finished form.

The original ambulance that the Ecto-1 was built from, was built in a small town (Piqua, Ohio) in a car factory called Miller Meteor ! My hometown !

The broken piece is the engine starter. Should be glued into the passenger side of the transmission bell housing next to the blue engine oil pan underneath the vehicle. Probably broke off in shipping...

Your unboxing video is the best out there because you show EVERYTHING I didn’t know the oscilloscope next to the jumper seat lit up and looks GOOD the oscilloscope screen has that faded green look - looks awesome!! So does the engine

This looks really cool! I'm building the Hero Collector Ecto-1. I just finished issue 6. I like buying something already to plug and play, like this, but, I also like to put things together. Both are nice.
I thought about though about the Hero version, until I found out it'll cost just as much and take 2 years to build. :(
Roof rack! It’s beautiful!
Poster tack will leave an oil spot and run on stickers or decals,fabric and flat paints but gloss should be ok! Especially on walls or house paint!

This is the greatest, make it sure you keep everything pristine, even the box and packaging. When you're done enjoying it put it away and save it, itll be worth big bucks when you're 60!!!
Wow, this is super cool, so impressed with the engine bay under the hood, it has the gm style parts (A/C compressor, P/S pump, belt, air filter, brake booster, wow, thats dope.
Imagine getting this for christmas...

wow im no collector or fan of the ghostbusters but that is impressive. The amount of detail is incredible. I saw one on ebay going for $4k
I was 8 when Ghostbusters came out. I saw it in the theater and it, I mean, changed my life. Opened my mind and some people swear they've seen ghosts. But non of that matters. This item is incredible. For 99.99% of overpriced fan garbage I wouldn't give it a thought. This though, I would really like to have. There are after market parts too like a die cast license plate.

Excellent "Toy"
To me the black cylinder that had fallen off looks like an oil filter. Look underneath the engine if there's a provision for it there next to the oil pan.
It's a shame the rear doors open the wrong way! I don't remember if they ever open them in the 1984 movie, but in Afterlife at least the right rear door opens backwards, and as far as I know that is how it was on real Miller Meteors too.

The rear doors is actually correct on this 1984 model. Their new Afterlife version (coming out 2023) has the door backwards like you mentioned.

Wow that is a beautiful piece right there. Blitzway did a fabulous job with attention to little details with this baby.
Round blue lights at the front and back of the roof are meant to pulse on and off, looks like Blitzway looked at the refurbed ecto 1 and assumed they're meant to be static.
About the two red tubes on the roof, in the Ghostbusters SEGA Master System game they were used to vacuuming ghosts in the car driving level, if I remember correctly you got $200 for each one captured that way.

Bro, the same exact thing happened to my box as well. They treated it like roadkill! I'm going to unbox it soon just for inspection, but what bothers me is that the box is so mangled up that I don't think there's any point taping it back up together. Even the inner box looks kinda bad.
The Eagle Moss Ecto is much more detailed and less toy like but is a little more costly iam currently on step 6 of mine and very impressed thus far
I agree. I am enjoying building my Ecto-1. I'm almost done with the Delorean and I just started the Jeep Willy.

Red tubes are known as the "Ghost Sniffer/s" aka ghost detector.

It looks great, and not having rotating lightbars would have been a deal-breaker for me, they just don't appear bright enough.
14:40 and you would be right to think that. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis designed the Ecto-1 together and all those gadgets actually have a purpose, they aren't just some weird pieces thrown together.
Hey mate, thanks a lot for the great review! In my opinion, the best review I've seen so far.
Speaking of the model itself, I think Blitzway did a great job there recreating the car. The best replica of ECTO-1 ever made.
There are some issues though which disappoint a little bit. The mp3 player being powered by an external battery sounds not good to me. I'd prefer waiting a little bit longer but having a mp3 player powered by batteries installed in the car. This plug&play concept sucks to be honest. I also don't like the fact that the 4 siren lights on the car's roof are not flashing like they should as shown on the prototype and on the real car. And the rotating speed of the police light bars is to high (again, compared to the prototype). The other issues do not bother me as much as the above mentioned. Unless the doors can't be opened/closed properly. It looks like they had not enough time to correct all the issues. That's why we (customers and GB fans) have to deal with them now.
I'm still waiting for mine, hope I'll finally get it in the first half of March. And I also hope that my copy of ECTO will arrive at least in the same condition as yours ☺
Despite all the issues it is still the greatest scale replica of the GB car so far. The Blitzway team did it very well.

Very good valid points you bring up. I only have one issue with the front drivers door, If I jimmy it, it fits fine. The speed and warm up of the top rotating lights does bother me. It's not light I'm going it keep it on all the time. The MP3 player with external battery already solved. I ran a thin power line to the top with battery pack stashed in rear. Its a Chinese speaker not (Bose) so don't expect to host a concert. I love it overall and have no regrets. :)
I issue a warning for folks dragging their feet thinking there's going to be a second re-issue or improvements. A lot of folks waited on the Hot Toys Delorean thinking we would have had a Mark II released by now. That was 4 years ago.

Haha! Yeah, definitely not the Bose speaker! 🤣 I'd use it as a siren - just like on the original car. I'm going to use my Revolve to play music though ☺
But seriosly, don't you think they should have made a working siren instead of that MP3 player? I mean, who doesn't have a MP3 player nowadays, or just a smartphone?
Did you connect that wire to the original battery compartment which is located next to the back seat? 🤔

Btw i got to unbox mine, mine came with a defective headlight on the right the one that blinks.. i think the problem is with the wire that supplies power to the light. Messaged Sideshow and they will be replacing my unit . Hassle but at least ill get a new one hopefully perfect this time
Guy Sky Good thing with Sideshow is it is free to ship it back and send it again to me. One of the very reason why i buy from them. They have one of the best after sales service in the business =)

Amazing Ecto 1! They got a couple things wrong though. Driver side strobe light never lit up in the film and the strobe lights on the front and back roof should be blinking. Still impressive!
Those tubes are a ‘sniffer’ that detects any/all residual ectoplasmic particulates which might go airborne if an entity flees during combat. Essentially it’s a type of directional tracker 👻

Yet to see ad a led nametag scrolling sign on top of ecto 1 . Easy extra add can put on top of car. Pretty cheap extra u can find online shopping. A led sign was on top in part 2 gb. Nice review

Beautiful.... just an Amazing beautiful Masterpiece I hope to get one! Even I think the lights shouldn't spin that fast and thought they was just flickering on and off or something and the back blue lights flashed on and of kinda slow/fast pace still I want one!! True I was always wondering what was with the double barrel blaster on the top for probably to kinda take on bigger ghosts like it's more powerful than a single proton pack or two still I kinda wish 5they put a scene in the first movie or least kept it in the second movie and used it
