I started playing the 162 as a sort of meme but now it actually became one of my favourite Jets, just because of the absolute Speed with which you can bait Mustangs to the deck and the fair bit of manouvrability, luv from Bavaria
It's such bullshit and the usual response is but they are really bad missiles. IMO they still give you an advantage if the guy chasing you have them even if you have an energy advantage you can't use the dogfight maneuver to go vertical because you have more speed you will just get missiled in the ass.
how about the mig 15 bis and g.91 r/3. germany doesnt get jack shit for competitive jets until the mig 21 and even then the MF is kinda shit. We need to lock supersonics with missles out of games with subsonics that dont. Why tf should i fight f11s and f100s in my mig 15 or g.91, its fucking impossible to kill them until they obviously make a huge mistake cause half the people that fly those planes are braindead

That wallet warrior will chase you, you have the speed advantage but he missiles you forcing you to evade them bleeding speed. And because of that he will catch you and most likely others as well. F86A5 doesn't fight just bad missiles, it encounters Lightnings and R60s. You think that is normal? There is absolutely no excuse. None. This game should be balanced and not give other players advantage over the others. I know why they don't give F86 missiles, it's because the wallet warriors will complain that they can't fly like morons and get kills anymore. Fuck that. Missiles have no place whatsoever against early jets.
Some jets I didn't add to the list that I could have: MiG-21PFM Sea Venom F-84B F-80C Javelin does not qualify for this list because it's the ultimate chad plane.
I would disagree about the F-84B being bad, as it excels at being untouchable if you maintain speed. Your top speed is way higher than anything else at the tier (Sabre levels in fact) and playing "razorline" (no turning at all except to go for another pass) works very well. Overall it was very pleasant to spade!
Hey at least the 104S is the fastest 104 and it has Aim7 Sparrows Currently playing the 104J, it's all pain and suffering, but the 104S I encounter seem to do pretty decently

I main italy as well it hurts man it hurts. Solutions are very simple. No.1 the g.91 ys gets put to 9.0 or give it better missiles No.2 the f.104s needs to have 2 aim7e's and 4 aim-9m's my dad used to fly the asa version. No.3 add more italian vehichles I have a list but to sum it up tornado, mb series, amx international and many more. Most likely we will be getting the tornado when the f-14, f-15, f-16 come out (this year most likely), as well as the harrier II, and the harrier II B.
My personal gripe is the f-11. You either bring a claymore to a knife fight or a claymore to a gun fight. On a full downtier it struggles keep on target against the dogfighting jets and on a uptier it gets shit on by harriers and lightnings.
Disagree on the 162. That thing at 6.3 is amazing. It’s so tiny and once up to speed is actually quite quick. Those 151s right now destroy too so 2-3 kills is quite easy and the 20min fuel lasts for the entire 25min almost perfectly so no need to go back to base. One of my favourite jets
He-162 for me is so op, i play it with boom and zoom tactics and basically never go for bombers since this was designed to be a low altitude fighter from the start
Since this video is only jets, consider making a prop version. Would like to see your opinion on the VB-10s, the French Flying Bricks! Also I love the fact that most people struggle in the He 162, keeps its repair cost where it should be. If played right against props that thing can be untouchable. Same goes with the 163. With proper fuel and ammo management you can get an ace on a single sortie in it, even in an uptier!
Imo the Ho229 is missing. I really like flying it but it's bad at fighting other planes. The only good thing is that it can pitch extremely fast when sideways (good for initiating jousts on chasing planes, so not that good actually), but that is well offset by the fact that it can literally not yaw because it doesn't have a rudder. Because the roll-rate is also below average, all a plane has to do is to roll into a different plane than you and pitch, because the Ho229 always has to sequentially roll and then pitch it's almost always slower. The guns suck too, two slow firing Mk103s relatively far from the center axis are not fun, you need your crosshair to be on target for a good second or two to reliably hit anything, and that's when you're close and they don't pull any maneuveurs. Hitting planes in passes is pure RNG (and usually bad one), because planes will pass between two shots. It's speed is ok in dives, but you'll see plenty of jets outrunning you. That this thing was designed first as a jet bomber and then scrambled to serve as a bomber interceptor and was at no point supposed to be a fighter really shows.
The He 162 was actually my favorite jet to fly around the start of last year, I found it just stomped prop aircraft but I just played it again two days ago and it was absolutely awful, did they stealth nerf it or something
Pro tip for flying the 163, you can cruise at 3km and maintain 560~ish IAS at 25% throttle But with only FIVE seconds worth of fuel you can maintain that speed and altitude for ALMOST a Minute and a half (85ish seconds) 5 seconds of fuel will let you cruise for 85-90 seconds. So after the initial climb you can just cruise into battle without burning hardly any of your fuel.
Let me get this straight: A jet is good when its easy to get kills in. A jet is bad when some characteristics have to be accounted for by the pilot in order to do well in it. And as someone who doesnt complain about "not getting guns on target" in a He 162 i say: gid gud!

Things to add is that the jaguar A should have flares but for some reason don’t. As for the British one, flares are an option if you remove the landing parachute
In defence of the 162, Heinkel's little jet was not supposed to be the MiG-31, but a wooden quickie that would win air battles by sheer weight of numbers.
Fun fact: The last models of the italian F104S, before being upgraded to ASA and ASA-M already got upgraded armaments.. in fact by removing the 20mm it could carry 4 aim9L and 2 aspide which are basically aim7 with better tracking and better g overload
Love the A-5 Sabre actually, best sabre by far. Equip boosters, ace crew, pull 14 gs and not rip at any speed unless you roll hard and pull. Quite good fun

I agree that the jaguar is not great at air rb, but its missing a lot of irl features like flares and overwing hard points. It is alright at ground attacking.
Been having way too much fun in the japanese missle sabre, you get to m8nch on the cougar, yak38, and harrier, plus any mig21 that's not playing it safe. It actually brought me back in to war thunder for now. Highly recommend trying it out now.
Hey Spit, haveyou thought of giving the F-80C a try with its 100 seconds of WEP? It's quite a capable plane on WEP, but without that it will feel rather slow in an up tier.
Haha, I made it into a video! I'm the first guy you killed in the Q-5, in my head I was like "Why the hell is Spit flying that thing?" so I gave myself up. As I said in the game chat, it shouldn't be facing things like the A-7D when it doesn't even have missiles. It's in an extremely precarious situation where it doesn't have the weapons systems to be competitive at its BR, but it's too fast to put any lower. Gaijoob please, get a dedicated balancing team. As someone who has, by some miracle, figured out the He 162, I can say that it is both the worst and best jet I've flown. Even with the fact that its model is outdated and it has poor stats overall, it works great as a ground pounder hunter. I can't tell you how many times I've managed to outlive my team, enemy players also seem to underestimate the hell out of this thing (rightfully so). But in patient, capable hands, the plane's a real threat, even with its dozens of problems. I even managed 7 kills in a match with it lol.
Hey spit, could you make a list for the best starting jets in-game? I got to tier 5 with Germany but most of their first jets aren't that great (the Me 262s and He 163 are in this list and the horten is good but really hard to aim)
Spit_flyer I must say you are horribly wrong about the F9F-2 / 5, I love that plane and it’s because people under estimate it’s ability. Out of every 5 games I play 2 of them are 3-5 kill games. It’s a support fighter so you climb to 3000-4000 meters if someone try’s to head on with you, you can commit and win due to the planes amazing cannons and their decent fire rate. If your teammate is being tailed you swoop down while the enemy is slow and get a kill. When played correctly this plane is an absolute beast.
Just my thoughts on how every plane performs now as this list is pretty old: A-5 Saber: Still not a very good saber variant, never played but easy to defeat with the planes thats in the same matchmaker/BR. F4C: Still awful, can't be brought down from 10.0 due to the radar missile capabilities, honestly should be replaced by another plane and foldered behind it. He162: I agree it's mid but not particularly bad and has some advantages over props, pretty high learning curve too. Jaguar: GR1 is now 9.7 with aim 9G making it pretty busted even without flares in a downtier, but not very good in a uptier. G91 YS: Still bad, now 9.7. F104: F104A and C are now at 9.3 and are really powerful at their BR and still aren't too bad in uptiers with the speed. Mig 19S: Also 9.3 now, only thing holding the plane back is if your enemy has op missiles but otherwise is also really good but imo PT is better with 2 AAM. F9F(2): 8.0 in RB only now, neither are still very competitive. F84F: 8.3 now, very bad plane still. F2H2: 7.3 now, pretty good for BR now. ME262: Most variants still aren't very competitive, nothing much to add. Yak 38M: 9.3 now, shouldn't be especially if its in full downtier but at least R60 is easier to energy dodge now due to drag changes. A32A: still not good. Me163/J8M: Imo good even for 8.7, has a learning curb though Q5 early/Q5A: Both are 9.0 now and even without missiles imo the Q5A is the best 9.0 in the game right now due to supersonic speed, energy retention, manuverability, and most importantly flares. Q5A also has a bomb/rocket CCIP making it good for ground battles. Would put Q5L as a much worse plane tho due to it being much worse in BR and weapons and missing countermeasures even though the physical model for the dispenser is literally with the plane.
And where the hell is the Yak-15/17 series, especially the Yak-15P?! I've yet to see a jet, which is more rubbish than that. Low top speed, low roll rate, plus a single 23mm autocannon with only 60 rounds? Count me out. I've managed to spade the Yak-15 and the Yak-17, with sheer persistence, but that thing would be too much even for me.

I honestly cannot understand what you hate on the He-162, it is one of the most fun and dominant planes I ever flew. Great speed, insane climb for the rank and considering its an early jet, turns like a prop and the guns hit pretty damn hard. I love that thing!
cl13b -limited fuel 6m (if you take too much your wing will break on dogfights) -bad missiles -no cannon (Usually the enemy cannot be destroyed even if you hit a lot of bullets but this is not a big problem there are 1800 pieces of ammunition) -no radar and flares (if you uptiered, enemies spraying with missiles against you) -too much expensive repair cost: 25.000 sl -bad BR I still don't understand why it went from 9.3 to 9.7.
I'm a main F-104S player (only because I'm a pastaboo). I can get 2 kills with relative ease using the gun and sidewinders (or sparrows if I feel lucky), but after that I'm entirely dependent on my team. I use it as a support plane, engaging unaware foes, but in the late battle I'm useless if I have no allies
"If a phantom wants you there is no escape" Meanwhile in my F-104S I'm dodging missiles whilst still widening the gap from said phantom to only then force him into a head-on once I get a 3 mile lead, rinsing and repeating until he and whoever else is dead. Phantoms aren't much of a threat unless you're caught in a dogfight and can't dive out or are caught at high altitude to with radar missiles, a simple horizontal zig-zag is enough to throw off an IR missile even from a mile out whilst still maintaining energy and the F-104's are amazing defensive fliers despite what people would think.
fully agree with most of this list, I'm a little sad the super mystere b2 didn't make the list nor the honorable mentions. poor thing has no acceleration, no top speed, no energy retention and some of the worst missiles. Video was excellent though I was grinding for some of these and i now know to hold off a bit and to focus on other nations, thanks for such amazing content spit!
Ah, the Yak 38M. I ground the entire yak like after skipping it for SMT just so I could slam into the ground every time I did a split S at altitude. I love that thing.
I had lots of fun spading the F2H-2 Banshee recently ..... didnt see much uptiers though.Then again im not a newbie.Had a blast with the full American Naval Jet line though.
I actually quite liked the F2H, F9F-2 and F-5 panthers, getting consistent 3+ kill matches and sometimes going up to 7 kill games. You literally just fly them like an SK60 and profit. Also, 16:20 xD

The 162 is actually one of the most fun jets I have every played. if you get uptiered (which is not very common) you might as well just J out but most of the games I have a pretty good time just speeding around the props I face. The A-5 Sabre on the other hand, has great performance and I want to love it but at the rate it gets uptiered and faces supersonics and missiles it's just not even fun. I cant get a good dogfight in every 5/6 games. The rest is just suffering.
id add in the other lansen as well, the j32b almost always face 10.7 vehicles. Like what can it do against mig 21s, phantoms and Mirrages? It has aim-9b missiles a low tier missile at the higest tier games. Its just a slaughter.
Seeing as there is a video regarding the WORST jets in WarThunder, Will there be a top tier list of what jets are FUN to play with? I would also want to ask if the German tech tree G.91 suffers from the same issues as the Italian does but at a lower BR? It is probably user error but whenever I fly it and go up against a team which consists 70% out of F-86 aircraft I just feel like there is really nothing I can do. Their both retain their energy better and have a better turn rate. Is there a way or is it one of those "trust in your team" situations?

Personally, I prefer the two panthers to the F86, they climb quite wonderfully by comparison, and are great for helping the team

Fun fact: The last models of the italian F104S, before being upgraded to ASA and ASA-M already got upgraded armaments.. in fact by removing the 20mm it could carry 4 aim9L and 2 aspide which are basically aim7 with better tracking and better g overload

Love the A-5 Sabre actually, best sabre by far. Equip boosters, ace crew, pull 14 gs and not rip at any speed unless you roll hard and pull. Quite good fun

I just unlocked it a day after your video, and an F89D already complained about that you had to make a video about it getting downtiered (which it has been for a long time though?) and that it is now running down F89D's (in a dive, after the F89D being damaged to crap). It's pretty good although I wish it had some external armaments.

I agree that the jaguar is not great at air rb, but its missing a lot of irl features like flares and overwing hard points. It is alright at ground attacking.
I wish you included the J32B.. Turns like a brick, gets out speeded by everything, and only has RB 24s.
It has very good energy retention though, but yeah kinda hard to use in current meta sometimes
Been having way too much fun in the japanese missle sabre, you get to m8nch on the cougar, yak38, and harrier, plus any mig21 that's not playing it safe. It actually brought me back in to war thunder for now. Highly recommend trying it out now.
Hey Spit, haveyou thought of giving the F-80C a try with its 100 seconds of WEP? It's quite a capable plane on WEP, but without that it will feel rather slow in an up tier.

The A-5 sabre does well against other 8.7s (and st the time 9.0 was the highest against those). Problem is being uptiered. Absolutely useless then
Haha, I made it into a video! I'm the first guy you killed in the Q-5, in my head I was like "Why the hell is Spit flying that thing?" so I gave myself up.
As I said in the game chat, it shouldn't be facing things like the A-7D when it doesn't even have missiles. It's in an extremely precarious situation where it doesn't have the weapons systems to be competitive at its BR, but it's too fast to put any lower. Gaijoob please, get a dedicated balancing team.

As someone who has, by some miracle, figured out the He 162, I can say that it is both the worst and best jet I've flown. Even with the fact that its model is outdated and it has poor stats overall, it works great as a ground pounder hunter. I can't tell you how many times I've managed to outlive my team, enemy players also seem to underestimate the hell out of this thing (rightfully so). But in patient, capable hands, the plane's a real threat, even with its dozens of problems. I even managed 7 kills in a match with it lol.

Spit_flyer I must say you are horribly wrong about the F9F-2 / 5, I love that plane and it’s because people under estimate it’s ability. Out of every 5 games I play 2 of them are 3-5 kill games. It’s a support fighter so you climb to 3000-4000 meters if someone try’s to head on with you, you can commit and win due to the planes amazing cannons and their decent fire rate. If your teammate is being tailed you swoop down while the enemy is slow and get a kill. When played correctly this plane is an absolute beast.

Just my thoughts on how every plane performs now as this list is pretty old:
A-5 Saber: Still not a very good saber variant, never played but easy to defeat with the planes thats in the same matchmaker/BR.
F4C: Still awful, can't be brought down from 10.0 due to the radar missile capabilities, honestly should be replaced by another plane and foldered behind it.
He162: I agree it's mid but not particularly bad and has some advantages over props, pretty high learning curve too.
Jaguar: GR1 is now 9.7 with aim 9G making it pretty busted even without flares in a downtier, but not very good in a uptier.
G91 YS: Still bad, now 9.7.
F104: F104A and C are now at 9.3 and are really powerful at their BR and still aren't too bad in uptiers with the speed.
Mig 19S: Also 9.3 now, only thing holding the plane back is if your enemy has op missiles but otherwise is also really good but imo PT is better with 2 AAM.
F9F(2): 8.0 in RB only now, neither are still very competitive.
F84F: 8.3 now, very bad plane still.
F2H2: 7.3 now, pretty good for BR now.
ME262: Most variants still aren't very competitive, nothing much to add.
Yak 38M: 9.3 now, shouldn't be especially if its in full downtier but at least R60 is easier to energy dodge now due to drag changes.
A32A: still not good.
Me163/J8M: Imo good even for 8.7, has a learning curb though
Q5 early/Q5A: Both are 9.0 now and even without missiles imo the Q5A is the best 9.0 in the game right now due to supersonic speed, energy retention, manuverability, and most importantly flares. Q5A also has a bomb/rocket CCIP making it good for ground battles. Would put Q5L as a much worse plane tho due to it being much worse in BR and weapons and missing countermeasures even though the physical model for the dispenser is literally with the plane.
And where the hell is the Yak-15/17 series, especially the Yak-15P?! I've yet to see a jet, which is more rubbish than that. Low top speed, low roll rate, plus a single 23mm autocannon with only 60 rounds? Count me out. I've managed to spade the Yak-15 and the Yak-17, with sheer persistence, but that thing would be too much even for me.

I honestly cannot understand what you hate on the He-162, it is one of the most fun and dominant planes I ever flew. Great speed, insane climb for the rank and considering its an early jet, turns like a prop and the guns hit pretty damn hard. I love that thing!

-no cannon (Usually the enemy cannot be destroyed even if you hit a lot of bullets but this is not a big problem there are 1800 pieces of ammunition)

-bad BR I still don't understand why it went from 9.3 to 9.7.
I very often get 2-3 kill games and survive in the 162. Its hard but once you learn its quirks you can outclass most if not all the props it sees
I love how all three of my highest tech tree jets are on this list, F-104A, F2H-2, and F-86-A5
I'm a main F-104S player (only because I'm a pastaboo). I can get 2 kills with relative ease using the gun and sidewinders (or sparrows if I feel lucky), but after that I'm entirely dependent on my team. I use it as a support plane, engaging unaware foes, but in the late battle I'm useless if I have no allies
"If a phantom wants you there is no escape" Meanwhile in my F-104S I'm dodging missiles whilst still widening the gap from said phantom to only then force him into a head-on once I get a 3 mile lead, rinsing and repeating until he and whoever else is dead. Phantoms aren't much of a threat unless you're caught in a dogfight and can't dive out or are caught at high altitude to with radar missiles, a simple horizontal zig-zag is enough to throw off an IR missile even from a mile out whilst still maintaining energy and the F-104's are amazing defensive fliers despite what people would think.
fully agree with most of this list, I'm a little sad the super mystere b2 didn't make the list nor the honorable mentions. poor thing has no acceleration, no top speed, no energy retention and some of the worst missiles. Video was excellent though I was grinding for some of these and i now know to hold off a bit and to focus on other nations, thanks for such amazing content spit!

I actually quite liked the F2H, F9F-2 and F-5 panthers, getting consistent 3+ kill matches and sometimes going up to 7 kill games. You literally just fly them like an SK60 and profit. Also, 16:20 xD

To be fair... the He 162 is very nice in Sim, i was surprised how good it is to fly there.

The 162 is actually one of the most fun jets I have every played. if you get uptiered (which is not very common) you might as well just J out but most of the games I have a pretty good time just speeding around the props I face.
The A-5 Sabre on the other hand, has great performance and I want to love it but at the rate it gets uptiered and faces supersonics and missiles it's just not even fun. I cant get a good dogfight in every 5/6 games. The rest is just suffering.

id add in the other lansen as well, the j32b almost always face 10.7 vehicles. Like what can it do against mig 21s, phantoms and Mirrages? It has aim-9b missiles a low tier missile at the higest tier games. Its just a slaughter.

I would also want to ask if the German tech tree G.91 suffers from the same issues as the Italian does but at a lower BR?
It is probably user error but whenever I fly it and go up against a team which consists 70% out of F-86 aircraft I just feel like there is really nothing I can do. Their both retain their energy better and have a better turn rate.
Is there a way or is it one of those "trust in your team" situations?
