    I have this car, it's pretty dam good. I sometimes look at other cars but this is literally the best car you can buy in it's price range. For another 20k I could upgrade to something else like a Jag F type or M4 but the performance gains would be marginal and not worth the cost. (the 3.0 F type is actually slower than this). I'm thinking a tune would be the cheapest best value option for this car from what I have now.

    I have a 2016 M235 6mt and you're correct, you cannot get stiff steering with the soft suspension. That would be perfect. I couldn't tell in the video if you were driving in DSC Off. IMO, that is by far the best driving mode. All nannies are off and it's the ONLY mode that the "electronic" LSD is active. In all other driving modes the differential is open. Yes, the eLSD is not a true LSD but it's decent for street driving. In DSC Off, you're stuck with the Comfort throttle, but I got around that by running a Sprint Booster V3. Now I have the perfect throttle mapping that sits right between Comfort and Sport throttle.

    I have the 2015 m235ix. My biggest irritation with this car has got to be the tiny ass fuel tank (just over 10gal). Other than that, I love my car!

    Chassi, engine, transmission and interior is perfect on the 2 series. Only thing it is missing is the HUD available to the 3 series and above.

    the LSD on my M2 makes a HUGE difference. I borrowed my friend's 135is (envy his hydraulic steering, better than the 2 series). On my M2 you can just throw the car and slide with prediction, the 135 just spins the inner wheel. I love my M2, I think the price difference with our cars is worth it, if you can find one of course. Took me several months to find one. 7 months from deposit to the dealer.
    I dd a wrx, but I would have to pick one car to do it all, would've gone with the M235i

  • @Carguytct
    @Carguytct 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I think it is funny that so many people likes to point out that this is NOT a M car. IT IS A "M" CAR. BMW named it M235i. It's just a different type of M car. It's a kinda gentler M car. I had an e46 M3 and I told myself that I would never own a M car again, for many reasons, until this came along.

    • @averageguy7932
      @averageguy7932 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, Kwan. True M cars have specific engines built for the model. This does not. It does not have M suspension. It does not have the body flares. It is not built at BMW M GmbH. Nope.

    • @defyyourlogic487
      @defyyourlogic487 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's not an M car but it's still a BMW and still M tuned to some extent. Making fun of a car like this is like saying a $50 steak is trash because there's an $80 option.

    • @EatSleepDrive
      @EatSleepDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have no regrets with Estoril Blue. If I had to do it over I would still choose it again. It's my personal favorite for the chassis. At the same time, it's not loud or obnoxious like say an Orange. Pretty easy to pull off without looking gaudy.

    Hey, I've been watching your last few vids, and enjoying them. I also recently bought an m235i. That's cool that you bought the exact car you wanted for such a good price, but I think you should kinda not downplay that there's maybe only 10 to 20 cars nationwide selling at that price. Almost all are in the $32-40K range. Of course those will be CPO from bmw, lower mileage, and pretty loaded with options. All that being said, I was also looking at getting the lsd installed, to the point of reading the pdfs and really looking to order it. So, if you did more on lsd upgrade that'd be awesome.

    Would it be better to go for an M235i or M240i in the 2018 used market? Prices aren't really that different it seems here in the UK (about £5000 difference from the none facelift 240) but is it worth it?

    • @EatSleepDrive
      @EatSleepDrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The B series engine in the M240i is much improved from the N55. If there isn't that much of a price difference i would spring for the M240i. When I was in the market the M240i was significantly more expensive so at that point it wasn't really worth it.

      I'd take a 981 over this car any day. A 987? It's close. The Porsche definitely has the edge from a pure driver point of view, but I love the turbo character of the N55 in the M235i. The fact that the M235i is still under warranty is really what put it over the edge for me.

    • @EatSleepDrive
      @EatSleepDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a tough choice. For me, I prefer the dynamics of the BMW as the rear wheel drive is just more fun. But, if you plan to have it as a daily and you live somewhere where it snows, you might consider the Golf R.

    • @Jvilleman400
      @Jvilleman400 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      EatSleepDrive lol ironic thing is I'm moving to Florida lol so that makes it make even less sense for me lol I prefer rwd as well and a manual but idk how my commute daily is gonna be and I know German clutches aren't cheap so I'd go with the dsg golf r with dcc

    • @EatSleepDrive
      @EatSleepDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ZF 8spd auto trans in the 235i is pretty good. It's not a dual clutch though like the Golf R. They both operate different but both are pretty good.
