I just found this channel and been going through current videos. I searched for this car specifically because I'm looking for one and wow, my man has came a long way since 2018.
I totally can understand that, For the majority of the population they don't know anything about turbochargers and I can see how there would be some confusion behind the wording effects. Thanks for your input!
Raiti's Rides they actually declare that twin scroll turbo is more efficient than having 2 turbos. I have that in my e89 and there is almost no lag and it has very linear acceleration. That’s where the twin scroll principle shines.
Twin Scroll turbo. Two scrolls to reduce turbo lag. They’ve been doing this for awhile even on the Mini Cooper S. Second the car does have an M Adaptive Suspension and M Sport Breaks. Same as M2. Their are different options you can order on brakes but the brakes on this car are a huge step up from any other. Yes it’s not a M2 but it does deserve the M badge. Uses the same engine as an M2. M2 does step things up and yes it’s more of a track car. The M235i is more balanced. You said a lot of things right about the car but got a few things wrong that should definitely be noted. It has more and common with the M2 then you let on. But the M2 is tuned a bit different does have some differences and will be faster. The funny thing is that ZF8 Automatic in the M235i might beat a Manual M2. That ZF8 is an option on the M2 but it’s one hell of a transmission. It can definitely shift. It’s also worth noting that the M235i came out before the M2. It was kinda the preview car of what the M2 was going to be like but it’s their to kinda replace the 135i that we all loved and missed. It does get confusing. But BMW didn’t mess anything up. You can get M Parts or Packages on any BMW. But any car that has the M in front of the single number that’s the staple. Any car that has the M in front of the numbers that’s got enough in common with the staple and maybe some different options to be worthy of the M Badge. If you buy a 435i with all the m packages the door sills will say M. Not M2 or M235i or M4. It denotes the fact this car has M packages but is not an M Car. We also have a BMW M8 and an M850. It’s the same thing the M8 is the staple. 850 has enough in common to get the M badge but maybe ordered with different options. The M850 is 20k cheaper than the M8 but you can package it differently. Same went with M235i and M2 generally 5-10k less depending on used or new. Long comment but any car that has an M in its model number is definitely worthy of the badge. Typically the staple is the better car but certain options may be available on an M850 rather than an M8. Or maybe someone dosent want to go the full distance of the M8 or aggressiveness. Save some money get the m850i your close enough. BMW started doing this awhile ago. It creates a different price point allows for more options and still gives the customer the satisfaction of owning an M Car. I’ll bet it does help their margins too. An M235i could produce the power of an M2. All you need is a tune and about $500. So for short we have BMWs and then BMWs with M packages or parts and then we have the M cars , the M# always being the staple a and then the M### that is cheaper but close and may be able to be packaged differently. That’s kinda the way they do it.
I love this car, seriously. I’ve had my 2016 xDrive version of the M235i N55 motor for a couple years now, running a stage 1 tune with bolt ons making probably producing Supra or modern B58 (380hp) at least! I love hearing what great things people say about this pocket rocket, especially the one and only Joey R. I’ve done track days in it, nothing but a blast. If you’re hesitant about getting one, don’t be! 🔥🤘🏻

Great review Joe, It's good to see BMW getting back in the game. The new M5 is a weapon, for awhile there in the early 2000's they got really boring but it looks like its changing. I would get a BMW but one of the main issues is depreciation, you loose almost half the worth of the car in the first year its crazy and the fact they don't budge on pricing and no trade-in seems to be worthy of a decent drop in price. They are real sticklers here in Australia lol, Thanks again. Cheers!
It's a great car badge or no badge, M doesn't stand for what it used to. It's more about "M"arketing than anything, they'll put an M badge on anything to sell a car. If I bought one I'd take all the cheesy poseur badges off.
