      Yeah, I live close to there and that liquor store is still there, minus the phone booths of course. I've seen it in countless movies and TV shows. It was in Curb Your Enthusiasm and I even spotted it in the movie Dave with Kevin Kline, even though that movie takes place in Washington DC. Right across the street on Moorpark is the church they use in Young Sheldon.

      I am trying to figure that out as well it seems like a random murder. It seems like eis about getting the cay hair but that doesn't make sense to me. Why that man and that house? How did he know he has a cat? It seems there are much simpler ways to get cat hair. Unless he knows the husband and they murder him and frame the husband with the hopes that he will be convicted and hung for it. So Columbo may not have been investigating her husband's death.

    • @rickrick5041
      @rickrick5041 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mechanwhal6590 In the last 2-3 years TVs were much larger and could hold much longer shows. Columbo started in the 50s with much smaller TVs. There’s no comparison. There’s a lot more than one more thing.
      The original Colombus was a stage play in 1951. It was turned into a TV play in 1961 with Bert Freed as Columbus, complete with a cigar, politeness, and forgetful manner. It wasn’t until 1957 that another pilot film was commissioned, with Peter Falk who really made it his own.
      Even then it wasn’t until 1961 that it was sold as a series on NBC where it aired once a month. Much later it was revived on ABC with occasional specials. The later ABC ones were strange for sure but usually lacked the quality of the original NBC shows. A couple though were better.
      But what many casual fans don’t realise is that Columbo, the character, was created by William Link and Richard Levinson nearly a decade earlier and had already graced both the stage and screen long before Peter Falk assumed the beige raincoat and ever-lit cigar.
      Fortunately for the world they uncovered a loophole that allowed them to flex their creative muscles. Despite the strike action, it was still permissable for Guild members to write for live television. And so targeting the newly launched Chevy Mystery Show and its weekly one-hour live broadcasts, the two got to work on the script for a murder mystery entitled Enough Rope - the first official script featuring one Lieutenant Columbo.
      “The Columbo character was based squarely on Porfiry Petrovich, the astute but meandering lead investigator in Dostoevsky’s Crime & Punishment.”
      Columbus is Porfiry Petrovich, the astute but meandering lead investigator in Dostoevsky’s Crime & Punishment - a book both had studied at college.
      It was first published during 1866. It is the second of Dostoevsky's full-length novels following his return from ten years of exile in Siberia. Crime and Punishment is one of the supreme achievements in world literature.
      Was it a tribute to Rocky Marciano’s legendary trainer Allie Colombo? Or an adaption of Philadelphia nightclub Palumbo’s that both men used to frequent?
      The honour of first portraying Columbo went to Bert Freed, who took up the mantle in the aforementioned live-to-air murder mystery Enough Rope, which aired on 31 July 1960 as part of the Chevy Chase Mystery Show drama anthology.
