- Onyx is Finally Finished! Thank you ALL so much for being patient with me. This was... phoooooo it was a project. I'm glad it's completed.
This is a Halo Animation showcasing the oft forgotten battle between a UNSC battle group, a Covenant fleet, and the mysterious ghostly guardians of the planet Onyx.

I hadn't realized until this video of how terrifying the planet full of sentitals really is. Imagine being the lone survivor of a masacare and in such a small helpless ship. Then as the superior force settels after a close shave, something impossible happened.
The planet begins to crack from the inside, great canyons of molten magma forming, then suddenly it lashes out like an injured animal. Beams of light erupting and tearing the ships apart like nothing. Until finally the whole planet explodes in a blinding light.
What is left, are those very sentinals, impossibly countless in number, and the fact they were THE WHOLE planet the entire time. A mere fraction of a dead empire
All while you're this small insignificant ship. Truly as terrifying as it is spectacular.
It’s insane still that 9 unsc did that well against 21 covvie ships , even if they were helped by sentinels
@@notafrog2040 The Hornet mines laid by Prowler of Dusk were instrumental here. Without those mines, the fleet would've had to made a hardcall for a retreat.
Something that might've saved lives given what happened after.

What category was that vessel by the way? The Glasgow Kiss and a few others, their weight implies frigates but I've not seen that design in universe before. My Halo lore's getting pretty outdated, my apologies.

@@wren7195 that’s a Halberd class destroyer, almost twice the weight of a frigate because of its 2 meter armor and dual MAC system

Ain't no confirmations, Because Spartans never die, But oh boy what a bad ass 051 turned out to be.
Bet Kurt is still kicking ass.
I don't like glossing over Kurt's bada$$ery, but I had to ask myself, "what would the Dusk officers know from orbit/the moon?" And the unfortunate answer is, "Not much". Much like the Spartans didn't know much about what was happening in space 😔
I grew up reading eric nylund's halo books (well, listening to the audio books) and the level of detail on this is amazing. You took effort to adapt it as faithfully as possible, and it shows! Hats off to you!

Love how you litterly show how the Covenant have plasma assets that fire literally at light speed that MAC rounds firing back have to take their time to get to their targets given how space is huuuge.

@RAWDOGGER420 I guess we had a couple of options to choose from, but I knew it wasn't a punic, or infinity class. I couldn't find a model of the Orion so I just went with what I could find 😅
Also Ghosts of Onyx was like the 4th halo novel, I don't think we had very many unsc ship models yet 🤔
This is amazing! It's so cool to see that battle animated. I loved the effects of the human shipboard weapons firing, and the way you showed the shields on the Covenant vessels holding, and then breaking and letting the next hits physically damage the ship. Especially when the sentinels fired on the ship at 16:25, that was a really cool shot. Great job!
Litterly showing how space combats would actually happen in real life. Space is huge & it's a vacuum, ships will zip past each other when they engage each other head on, The UNSC sometimes have to go balls deep on rare offensive operations given Covenant ships can outrange, out-maneuver. This ain't like Star Wars where ships just broadside each other, park in a hard vacuum of space with no 3D maneuvering & just fire at each other for 30 minutes. If something comes at you in space, it's gonna hit. Hard. Physics is physics. 😂
INCREDIBLE narration of this battle of the books. It makes me sad it was never followed on. This feels really close to the universe.

This was absolutely incredible. The style was unique and successful. And what I love the most is that it not only showed the naval battle in both amazing detail and very high accuracy. But it won't be the emotional story of the lieutenant debrief, adding a true touch of emotion that I haven't seen it in a while. Absolutely stunning. I can't wait to see more amazing work from you, man. Halo needs more good naval battles.

I watch a lot of Halo content and man, this might be one of the best Halo videos I've ever watched because of all the love you clearly put into it. Plus this is easily one of the best moments in all of the Halo novels and no one ever really covers it so I'm glad you did. Awesome job, dude!

What I’ve noticed about UNSC fleets that take the fights to the covenant. They tend to win those fights. It’s when they play defense like defending worlds does the UNSC fleets get wrecked.
🤔 hm. lemme think on that one... when you say "win", do you mean that the covenant lose all their ships? or that the UNSC walks away with some ships?
@@djcanimations5111 I haven’t read it but didn’t that happen in silent storm book? Also Admiral Cole’s last battle, Infinite when it raided Requiem, the battle at Unyielding Hiruphant, alpha and beta companies’ campaigns. Ok so I guess it’s when the UNSC takes the fight to the covenant in general and not just their fleets.

UNSC fleets have to take the fight to the Covenant because they're going to lose. Defending or attacking, either would be significant losses for the UNSC, if not outright annihilation.

Small mistakes for the composition of the Covenant fleet :
The first fleet is composed of 1 ORS heavy cruiser, 1 carrier (likely CAS), 2 CCS cruisers and 18 Destroyers (likely CPV class heavy destroyer).
The second fleet is composed of CAS, CCS and CPV, there was no CSO class super carrier in that fleet.
In which book is that mentioned?
