He would have made one hell of a Spartan. "I didn't know you, Sarge, but I sure as hell wish I had. You must have been one hardass son of a bitch." - John-117, upon finding Mobuto's body
@@OhimeshinsoProbably not, since Orion project Spartans supposedly have an innate resistance to the flood. It's possible, but I honestly hope it stays that he was just a peak human. His story is even more badass without any augments whatsoever
Remember how horrifying your first playthrough of The Library was as a kid. Think about how your hands were shaking just playing it. Now think about how the Chief was canonically terrified of the Flood. Now... think about how it would be to go through this without the energy shields or advanced armor, as a simple human. This is far worse than any zombie apocalypse. The only mercy is that he was so mutilated that even the Flood couldn't use what was left, so he died and stayed dead.
It's his programming. The original lore for Bungie Halo was that humans actually are Forerunners. That's why humans could interact with the technology. Guilty Spark tells the Chief in Halo 3 "You are Forerunner." Spark was totally confused when Chief didn't know what the Halo rings were intended to do. "You already knew that. I mean, how couldn't you?" To Spark, the humans on the ring were Forerunners coming back to reclaim their property, hence "reclaimer."
I like to think he got hit with that rocket launcher which was being wielded by the combat form on this level when you get closer to his "body". The reason his body was so mutilated by the end with nothing to use for the flood was because he got blasted to kingdom come. At least, that way, he suffers no pain, and no flood form takeover.
You can see on his helmet recording that when he was transported to the library by spark, it had been 60 hours since he escaped the autumn. He spent almost three days alone in the snow before being thrust into the flood filled hellscape. Seeing that the biomass is missing in the final library, I assume him clearing the place of combat forms allowed spark to reactivate the sentinels and begin cleaning up the flood, making the library easier for chief. What a trooper
@@maldino2917 nah,, the outbreak was far to recent for biomass to be gathering. Considering 343 guilty spark still had control over his ring (it wasn't until the covenant and then keyes that they got unleashed) Its clear the flood when it did reach the point of gathering mass, priotised gathering it on ways to get off the ring as seen in the covenant ship with keys, I imagine if 343 had been as rampant as delta halos monitor and unable to control them with his sentinals then we would have seen the flood build a gravemind in the library to keep an eye on the key to prevent any reclaimer from accessing it like in delta halos.
We find Marvin with Rocket ordinance as well so dude was definitely packing firepower. I love how you tell the lesser-known stories in Halo lore. Bungie really did a great job with environmental storytelling & it's so great to finally see how they unfolded. This video alone is deserving of a million views at least
Marvin Mobuto would’ve made a badass Spartan 4. Even the Chief admitted that he was reaching the limits of his Spartan strength even in mjornir armor when he spotted Mobuto’s remains.
I think one of the things people tend to forget with this though, is that yeah the marine had been *surviving* for those 3 days, but most likely managed to avoid heavy combat. Chief was stuck in some of the heaviest fighting on the Ring day in and day out even before he came on the flood, and once he started fighting the flood, it didnt quit until they managed to escape. Not saying the Marine isnt a badass cause he definitely was, but the chief was goin through a special kind of hell.
@@MrRazerwolf this marine was by himself from the jump the whole time after he left the Autumn. Also at some point Chief did get 10 hours of sleep. And finally Mabuto did the same course Chief did before his death.
i'd like to add to your comment of him being alone and next thing You know, some random robot shows up teleports you and now you're just running and gunning avoiding something that wants to take you. I can't even imagine the thought process of that man. But my respects, and he truly deserves a Spartan place.
I've been working on a Fan film script for the story for Marvin Mobuto for a couple of years now. While not very similar to your idea, the beggining with the Chief and to make Mobuto go throw a journey before he meets 343 Guilty Spark was also something I wrote on my story. I'm so happy someone else appreciates the badassery of this character. Fantastic job, man.
What did you think? I did what I could, a lot happened in between but I'm glad it's finished. I hope Mobuto is proud. PS: Mobuto went with Sparks because he thought he was the only survivor. Considering that he was completely alone in that part of the ring and since Sparks spoke English, he guessed that it was a secret AI or something. It makes some sense and it's also not that different from how the Chief went with Sparks as well. PS2: I would have liked to animate more combat scenes but since Mobuto was alone, I couldn't add epic scenes of Pelicans or vehicles, or the alpha base. That may be left for another adaptation of The Flood in the future. PS3: The next one I plan to be 4K
This was epic as all hell man. I'm so glad I subscribed to you when I did. Also might I suggest maybe your next project be something along the lines of Private Jenkins. That man was a true heroe unto the end.
Well, you could always make a "fanfiction" if you would be up for that. Perhaps a what if where Marvin Mobuto somehow managed to survive due to luck, happenstance, more assistance from the sentinels, or maybe even access to some Forerunner weapons and armor. Anything is possible, and I'd like to see more for Mobuto if you can animate it.
I actually like how you took the detail of having ODSTs on the pillar of autumn, as even though we don’t see them in the first game they were (I think) canonically there, shown in the arcade game
You mean Fireteam Raven, right? Cause that game was confirmed as canon to Halo CE and there was also Major Silva who was on Installation 04 at Alpha Base with other ODST units as well before the Flood had overwhelmed the UNSC's encampment.
In a time when OG halo fans feel like the franchise has lost its way. You’re carrying the whole team! Man I’m going to become a member to help fund your talent and passion.
Especially since Chief describes how fighting through the library pushed him to his limits as a Spartan II. He couldn't imagine how a normal marine could have done it. Hence why said he wished he knew Mobuto. The dude was bad ass.
Running with literal metal plates and firing Cal. 308 in bursts while chased by the top horrors of Science Fiction... How was the Staff Sergeant not enlisted as Spartan?! The video is absolutely outstanding. Exactly the kind of Halo Media I love to watch and easily on par with official material like A Day At The Beach
Thank you for this glorious video. On side note, Sergeant Marvin Mobuto, if memory serves, was suppose to wear an ODST helmet at the end. SPV stated he managed to find it from one of the fallen ODST's and use it to keep the Flood puss out of his mouth. Kind regards.
BRO I couldn't process all the beauty of this animation. Damn, everything blew me away, from the animation to what Marvin had to go through during the war in the facility, it just feels part of the game! I loved! I ended up delighted more than I expected. I'm proud of you!
Is nobody gonna talk about the CUSTOM CE-DETAIL ODST MODELS?! It was so cool to see what they would’ve looked like back then! Great watch, gotta watch again 😂
I swear halo has one of the most talented fanbases I’ve ever seen. The mods, the animations, the fan made stories and lore, the art, the music; it feels like everything the fanbase does to pay respect to the franchise is lightyears ahead of what 343 has done to our beloved series
I read Halo: The Flood recently, and it talked about Staff Sgt Mabuto. He definitely seemed badass, so this was a great time to see this story of his last moments
Not gonna lie this was really cool. I only recently found out about this marine in Halo lore and then saw this to solidify it. He really was a badass and hearing MC say that at the end was kinda hilarious
I absolutely loved this. From the CE-style animation for the Marines and ODSTs to the music and first person POV, everything was just on point. You, my friend, have just gained a subscriber.
Halo: The Flood released around the same time the first game did in 2001....it's so wild to see the community recreate an iconic scene that we as fans visualized from the extended media over 20 years after first release. Hats off to you!
My guy had the potential and the drive of a Spartan. Goes to show that augmentation isn't everything...And as much as he was beyond ODST-material, the task he was given wasn't for any types of human. Great creation; keep it up.
It was said Mobuto's body was too mutilated to be converted so he wasn't impaled by one combat form. Lore accurate would be multiple combat forms thrashing him.
@@kyzerbuhnzi6403 I know that, I meant Mobuto's journey from the Pillar of Autumn to his death in the library. That was all @NotPipi 's idea and I loved it. Created a story I never thought about and made me care about him.
Damn really shows how ruthless the covenant actually was compared to the games. Ive read some books describing it but actually seeing it on video is different. That soldier taking a plasma pistol shot point blank into the face really shocked me.
Love the use of the H1 models too, really sells the classic feeling. Everything from showing the grenades burn *spherical* holes in the deck to the the breakup of plasma weapons and needles. This is good showing how even though he fell in the end, one man can simply show the mettle of the human race. It was what classic Halo was all about, and something 343 forgot.
When Chief found Marvin’s body, he was shocked. Chief in armour and having superhuman physiology was nearing the limits of his endurance and there was Marvin. He called him a hard ass SOB
It's pretty lucky that Cortana was already in the Control Room core at this point. If he'd made it through, she would have stopped him, though Guilty Spark would then have killed him for sure. Amazing animation, keep up the good work!
Marvin's HUD and the plasma wounds are such a great detail Also love the detail of mobuto covering himself in snow as cammo to show how experience he is (unless was cause the storm but still) Gran trabajo hermano
In all my 23 years of knowing halo, this is what I always imagined in my head after I read that part in the flood book where cheif posthumously compliments this badass marine. I absolutely love that you brought this underrated moment in the extended halo universe to life! Especially in its all its classic glory
As someone who's first Halo was CE on the original Xbox, and has been a fan for about two decades; THANK YOU. This is the best and coolest Halo fan-made film I've ever seen. CE's art style, and general ambience, is un-parralled with other games, but this animation does that justice. The Pillar scenes are my favorite, especially before everything goes to Hell. I've always loved seeing the Pillar scenes of the Marines in the vehicle bays, and you showed me more than CE did! Thank you again, and I hope that Bungie CE devs watch and recognize this
that was a fun watch! I really enjoyed this part of the novel and seeing it brought to life like this was such a cool experience. fantastic work on this 👊
1:53 The loud boom/camera shake that shows Mobuto foot come into frame. I can definitely feel an overwhelming presence that this marine, is one tough son a bitch. Beautiful work creating this, and adding depth to this character. He reminds me a lot of Sergeant Forge from Halo wars.
Youve done a great job on the animations. I like it. You should do animations on the unsung heroes for people who dont read the halo books. like me..... 😂 but yes loving this 🫡🫡
i would love to see the taking of alpha base, defense, and fall of it, since we don’t get to see odsts in CE i think that would be very cool to see come to life
This is another fantastic example of all the story telling Halo has to offer, and of how valuable the marine perspective is, imagine a game like the sequence where he took out the patrol at his life pod.

Greetings from Mexico
Gracias amigo, saludos desde Argentina c:
“You must’ve been one hardcore son of a bitch”. Straight out of Halo - The Flood. Thanks for taking me back. You did amazing
He would’ve for sure been a bad ass spartan IV
Mobuto was so mauled at the time of his death, even the flood couldn't make use of him at that point.
Finding his body was one of my favorite moment in the books, good to see him getting some recognition. Great job!
I love how you tell the lesser-known stories in Halo lore. Bungie really did a great job with environmental storytelling & it's so great to finally see how they unfolded. This video alone is deserving of a million views at least
Knowing how scared 117 was in this scenario, now imagine Mobuto... he deserved better
Imagine if this man was given the budget to capture every detail he thought of but couldn’t add
Nice! I hope one day you can bring that script to life, we need more Halo content
Loved this mate.
I this channel is grossly under watched.
The marines fighting on the Pillar of Autumn has to be some of the best scenes I’ve seen that capture what I assume the combat would of felt like
Mobuto did his best as a marine, he would have been a great ODST, and a excellent Spartan, but NotPipi did a fantastic job making this video.
The best part is Steve Downes actually saying the lines.
Not everyone knows the story of this lonely Marine, I am grateful that he is remembered
@@EnclaveSOC-102 yeah, sick
In a time when OG halo fans feel like the franchise has lost its way. You’re carrying the whole team! Man I’m going to become a member to help fund your talent and passion.
Wow, that was seriously so good man! Mobuto was such a badass to make it as far as he did! 🔥
Like chief said; he was one hardcore son of a bitch
I absolutely LOVE how you depicted the ODSTs as cool as they are in the books.
What chief said at the end was directly from the book iirc
I know.
@@chipsdubbo5.56I didn't know thanks for the detail :)
Imagine creating playable missions that are modded around this fan film animation, adding it and turning it into a story to play on CE.
Wow this was good! Thanks for sticking with the original Halo CE graphics style.
I absolutely loved this.
From the CE-style animation for the Marines and ODSTs to the music and first person POV, everything was just on point. You, my friend, have just gained a subscriber.
Thank you so much for making a minor detail in the novel come to life.
gave me freaking goosebumps hearing chief say that at the end
Halo: The Flood released around the same time the first game did in 2001....it's so wild to see the community recreate an iconic scene that we as fans visualized from the extended media over 20 years after first release. Hats off to you!
My guy had the potential and the drive of a Spartan. Goes to show that augmentation isn't everything...And as much as he was beyond ODST-material, the task he was given wasn't for any types of human.
Great creation; keep it up.
Mabye not in quality, but this is just as good in polish as SODAZ. Props on using the original textures. Making me feel all nostalgic, and shit.
This is awesome. I've finally got to see how Marvin Mobuto fared against the flood
It was said Mobuto's body was too mutilated to be converted so he wasn't impaled by one combat form. Lore accurate would be multiple combat forms thrashing him.
A halo survival but linear game would be fucking lit if we get to play as Marvin
Marvin was one of Baps’ halo as a marine runs
It's beautiful. Brings a tear to my eye for the story you created.
It’s an original Halo book but animated (well at least the Chief stuff is)
@@kyzerbuhnzi6403 I know that, I meant Mobuto's journey from the Pillar of Autumn to his death in the library. That was all @NotPipi 's idea and I loved it. Created a story I never thought about and made me care about him.
I love the little details with the HUD - like how it recognizes an enemy before it's fully in sight. Nicely done!
Mobutos story is actually insane I love his character he’s literally up there with chief himself
Wow. Its so nice to see what this community is creating :)
Damn really shows how ruthless the covenant actually was compared to the games.
Ive read some books describing it but actually seeing it on video is different. That soldier taking a plasma pistol shot point blank into the face really shocked me.
And the Banshees shooting down the lifeboat too. The back had to blown open into molten slag if it was a live action scene.
No entiendo como tal tremenda obra de arte tiene tan pocas vistas 😭😭
Concuerdo contigo bro😢
@@MikeeFit_GYM Yup
This was amazing, nice work
This is great and I think the coolest part by far is the CE-ified ODSTs at the beginning. They look badass and fit very well.
This was one of the most memorable parts of The Flood for me.
Una obra maestra mi querido amigo. Los esfuerazos dan sus frutos, ya lo verás!
You gave mobuto the justice that Spv3 just couldn't do. I applaud you 👏
He made one major mistake.
NEVER WASTE THE AMMO ON THOSE BEHIND YOU, the library is a whole other beast.
I absolutely love the use of og Halo 1 assets this is one of the best animations i’ve ever seen
When Chief found Marvin’s body, he was shocked. Chief in armour and having superhuman physiology was nearing the limits of his endurance and there was Marvin. He called him a hard ass SOB
Please, PLEASE keep animating abstract Halo lore! I’m all for it! Sub and like every time.
It's pretty lucky that Cortana was already in the Control Room core at this point. If he'd made it through, she would have stopped him, though Guilty Spark would then have killed him for sure.
Amazing animation, keep up the good work!
Damn, fans doing way more than the actual dev team. Props to you bro this is a show I would watch. Not that paramount trash
Marvin's HUD and the plasma wounds are such a great detail
Also love the detail of mobuto covering himself in snow as cammo to show how experience he is (unless was cause the storm but still)
Gran trabajo hermano
Chief couldn't have praised him any higher. R.I.P. Sgt. Marvin Mobuto.
This is why we need playable marine in Halo games
I can't believe you got chief to say the line. Legendary moment. Now in audio and video form
AI really is incredible, never thought I’d hear book lines be said in game form
I re-read this book this year. This was really cool, I liked it a lot.
A real masterpiece, it was awesome! 10000+/10
Mobuto be playing the Library like me on Legendary. Just speed running as fast as I can so it can be over faster.
Seeing the Autumn open up with her MAC and shred that cruiser was glorious
In all my 23 years of knowing halo, this is what I always imagined in my head after I read that part in the flood book where cheif posthumously compliments this badass marine. I absolutely love that you brought this underrated moment in the extended halo universe to life! Especially in its all its classic glory
OORAH Staff Sergeant Mobuto. Damn shame you didn't make it to off the ring with Johnson, Chips, Staff Sergeant Stacker, and the others.
Some of the best stuff I’ve seen
As someone who's first Halo was CE on the original Xbox, and has been a fan for about two decades; THANK YOU.
This is the best and coolest Halo fan-made film I've ever seen.
CE's art style, and general ambience, is un-parralled with other games, but this animation does that justice.
The Pillar scenes are my favorite, especially before everything goes to Hell.
I've always loved seeing the Pillar scenes of the Marines in the vehicle bays, and you showed me more than CE did!
Thank you again, and I hope that Bungie CE devs watch and recognize this
A great piece of art and the now animated story of the Marine who was so close to getting the key will now last forever thanks to you
Truly momentus that you have us such a vivid animation depicting Staff Sgt. Mobuto's run through hell.
So cool. Now we need one about Private Dustin Echoes.
that was a fun watch! I really enjoyed this part of the novel and seeing it brought to life like this was such a cool experience. fantastic work on this 👊
Thanks Uny
I also think Mobuto had a lot of help from the sentinels. He probably had more sentinels assisting him then when mc made his run
This is amazing, thank you for this video and you’re attention to detail from the books!
Halo CE at a whole new level of "visceral" O_O I'm loving it! I really dig your take on the marines' monocle HUD/targeting reticule.
Getting that type of compliment from a Spartan like chief is honestly next level Lmaoo.
