I think this was my all time favourite Christmas. I was 11 and got a tape recorder and I was taping all of these adverts adding my own content 😂
Happy memories for a child of the Thames/LWT region, loved Peter Marshall. ❤
Great present's i was 6 in 1980, take me back forty four year's please 😅
Take me back to 1980 please
Us in Dublin were glued to English tv… not sure if signel reached all of Ireland back then💁🧐
When tv was worth watching..💁🧐🇮🇪🇬🇧
@13:35 lots of people look at me blankly when I tell them about the listening bank.
I remember it well!!!!
Dear God, the ads really were better than the programmes back then.
Interesting that the George and Mildred film debuted on TV only five months after its cinema release. Was special dispensation given for the film to be screened so quickly? Wasn't the normal rule four years after a cinema release?
Probably because Yootha Joyce had died in August of 1980!!
Well, it's not like it set the box office alight...
@@Scatscar1985 Indeed, but the British film industry took its embargo on showing films on TV extremely seriously. Originally there was an 8 year limit set, later reduced to (IIRC) 4. Such a short amount of time as in this case was absolutely unheard of.
@twitchygiraffe4636 a similar thing occurred when David Niven passed away in 1983. His final film was shown on BBC ONE that Christmas
@@twitchygiraffe4636I remember hearing that on Radio 1's brief news bulletin just ahead of the Top 40 that year. Such a shame
In the P.O ad that's P.H.Moriarty getting knocked down with a feather, Later on he appeared as Razors in The Long Good Friday and also appeared in Jaws 3D
Brilliant line up
Cherry Gillespie in the Twix ad…
"Drop in any time"
@ Jozman2005: I thought she looked familiar. Thank you.
Thanks, i was thinking that was a pans people lady
I've got some Baileys a couple a days ago.
@5:01 - it is too nice. I almost drunk a whole bottle once and had to point out to my brother that it is thick glass and you don't get as much as you would expect inside.
Ray Burdis leading out the football team in the Debenhams advert, and David Bradley enjoying a pipe full of St. Bruno. Michael Angelis and Chris Langham enjoying Skol lagers.
Kenneth Cope on a horse with a bad cold!
@@anthonybailey1966 Not Kenny Cope but Kevin Lloyd, who played Tosh Lines in The Bill for years.
@@ianfryer8386 yes you're right....my bad....I thought it was a bit of a scoop!!
I'd better atone for my error....definitely Derek Nimmo as the main voice in the KP ad , Paul Darrow was being billed for room service , etc in the American Express ad and Jeff Rawle was the mug who bought the chest wig in the Panama Cigars ad........I hope!!!
Michael Angelis seemed to pop up in the Thomson Holidays ad as well,at the airport check bit!
I was there - must have wiped it from my memory thank god! Was it really that bad 😮
Robin Bailey voices Goldener Oktober from Grants of St James, that is an ad I remember.
Isn't that Harry Sullivan (Doctor Tom's assistant) taking Day Nurse before a shift as UNIT's Medical Officer?
Yes, good spot.
McEwan's lager and Guinness ads get better later on in 1980s
late Mel smith in p and o ferries ad
1st Christmas of 1980s
My first Christmas too, although I can’t remember it👶
Pretty sure I just spotted Dr who smoking a pipe
I was ten. I think BBC1 had better shows on Christmas eve
