thankyou for this so much i miss the christmas day top of the pops doesnt seem the same now especially since i grew up with watching these on christmas day shame they ended them
No need to click the link as sadly the first thing I think of when I hear Gene’s name is not this classic or his legendary solo career but Pebble Mill, though I think that we even know what Pebble Mill was ages us somewhat 😂
Watching Christmas TOTP was part of Christmas tradition for me and I love watching repeats where possible but sadly the BBC can’t/won’t replay some due to either rights issues (think there’s an issue with Mike Smith’s rights) or sensitivities (think Doctorin’ The Tardis)
OK.. First off... is it me or does Marc Almond looks like a dead ringer for Peewee Herman. 2nd.. I get the feelng that Pitney diddnt like collaborating on this track, like it was forced ha lol which brings me onto my third point, no chemistry whatsoever...
You couldn’t be further from the truth as the duet was actually Gene’s idea. Marc had recorded a cover and Gene heard it offered to do it as a duet. Loved this song as a kid (sucker for orchestral sounds in pop) and 35 years on and nearly sixty years after the original it’s still on my in car playlist
By any standards Jason Donovan had a weak, lifeless voice without any distinctive qualities. That's the power of a popular television series and three prats known as stock, aitken and waterman. Bet Donovan never saw those three wise men coming! Lmfao.
We had it all in the mighty 80s and music was are life
Absolutely👍😊
The music and the great vibe no better time
The last year of the 80s. What a time!
Sonia's appearance on this was fantastic.She was so full of energy and that catchy song.
Wonder how Sonia would have been on Red Bull....😁
How we got from this delightful music to this shit we listen today as music ? Sad ....
I analysed an Erasure song with my class when I was a teaching assistant in Germany
We will be together with this music once again when it's all over
Here for a short time not a long time

Gene Pitney and Tony the car salesman from The Fast Show are the same person, I won't hear any arguments from anyone 😂
@0:10 "No1s and No2s" an apt description.
Gene Pitney - Pebble Mill at 1 😂😂😂
