    Thank you for searching out this song and reacting to it. To me it really feels like George is channeling Freddie while he is singing it as seemed to be the case with so many of the people who sang Freddie's and Queen's songs on that day. It seemed easy to feel Freddie's presence there on that day. For Roger, John and Brian, this concert was finally a little bit of closure to their long months of mourning the loss of their brother, friend, bandmate and Queen. It was a joyful day sprinkled with some bittersweet tears. This was an amazing send off for Freddie and the remaining three band members worked their behinds of to make it the best tribute concert ever with Queen being the house band for the day. Hearing all of their peers warm words and respect for Freddie were highlights of that day for me. Knowing that Freddie was being sent off with so much love from his friends was a soothing balm on a very painful wound.

      @@cashvstheworld Thank you. I have gone through several periods of writing in my life, mostly just poetry (a couple hundred posted on an author's site online) and short stories (just a few for literature classes and such) but I also have spent a lot of time reviewing other's writings and artistic offerings so perhaps that is where you are picking up that vibe.

    Not many singers can match Freddie's range. That's why they chose George Michael for this song 🎵

    Oh you've made my morning. George Michael really did Freddie proud! George had an incredible career himself. You could check out some of his stuff some time.

    Thank you beautiful reaction George Michael was one half of the duo Wham big stars in there own right but please note it took an amazing singer and a full choir to replace Freddie this was George’s favourite Queen song and he was a huge fan sadly passed away as well keep the reactions coming sending love from England x x

    Yes, George Michael was a huge Freddie Mercury fan. George was also really shaken by Freddie's death due to AIDS. George Michael was also Gay. He said later in life that Freddie's death scared him to death. Freddie's death brought a lot of attention to AIDS. Thankfully, they soon got effective drugs to fight the disease. Sadly, it was too late for Freddie. So sad. He is so missed.

    George attended every single rehearsal (5 if I remember correctly) whereas a lot of the artists only attended 1 or 2. Something nobody knew at the time was that George's partner Anselmo had also been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS but had sworn George to secrecy. Anyone that worked with George has said that he was a perfectionist and would do things over and over until he thought it was perfect 💜

    I was at Wembley that night. Splendid, if sad, evening. I had never really been a fan of George Michael before but this was easily the best performance on the night and showed me what a good singer he was.

  • @celsonicoliniTV
    @celsonicoliniTV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This presentation was definitely the highlight of the night. George Michael was a self-confessed Queen fan and, in addition to giving it his all, chose an interpretation of Somebody to Love that was closer to the studio version, even though he still gave his personal touch. The addition of the choir and audience participation added to the brilliance of the performance.

    That is actually not Queen's choir. That was a choir George Michael asked to accompany him during his 3 song set. George is a soul singer and puts a soul spin into any genre4 of song. Just like he did with this one! :) And you are correct, GM was a Queen fan and this is his favorite Queen song. He knew all the Queen songs by heart. You can see him singing along with the other artists during the rehearsal session of this concert. :)

    George did an absolutely stellar job with this song. I find it ironic that as dear Freddie's favourite composition, Freddie sang his heart out to find him somebody to love, yet he gave the whole world somebody to love...and we will adore him forever for it.♥

    not only Freddie was a superstar, but so was GEORGE. He was a worldwide megastar. For me, next to Freddie, the most extraordinary voice of the last 30 years. By the way, George was one of Freddie's favourite singers. He revealed this in a radio interview in 1989. Freddie loved "careless whisper".
