Bosnia literally had its own church and were quite looked down on by catholics, which is why rulers ussualy represented themselves as catholics. Even in the scroll by Kulin Ban you can see that it was written in Bosnian script and language, which also showed that we were literate. The problem is you Serbians claiming everything, if a lot of us Bosnian took Islam that doesn't change our nationality. Stop living in the medieval ages and see a diffrence between nationality and religion.

      @@sv4110 Ragusa reached its peak just after the other Balkan states fell to the Ottomans as it got comercial leverage exporting salt to the Ottomans which it had the exclusive right to do. Id say its more accurate to say Bosnia becouse the two had a alliance for over a 300+ years at that point and much of the Bosnian nobilaty had the status of dual nobilaty within the Ragusan republic (Kosače for example). This even extended in to the arts and literature where Ragusa would preserve Bosnian literature for a following 100ish years. The friendly relationship was so good infact that Ottoman Bosnian govenors would aid Ragusa in several occasions even if it would harm the Ottoman Porte.

    • @DelijeSerbia
      @DelijeSerbia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tekaklk928 Well technically Bosnia also fought wars against Ragusa including Kosaca at some point. You guys are looking at this wrong. There wasn't really any friendship between countries as that would be a wrong word to use for that period. There was "friendship" between certain nobles and Republic. Republic was making them all rich so if they have a good trade deal with Ragusa then they were best friends but if not it is a different story.

      In one of my multiplayer games, the Ottomans were completely wiped out by Austria and Eretna before my friend, playing Muscovy/Russia, even got to the Black Sea coast. Previously, we had thought that he would have had to fight against them.
      Edit: While looking over the timeline footage I recorded, Russia actually did get a province by the Black Sea a few years before the Ottomans were actually wiped out, but by then, they were a landlocked opm in the Balkans, and were quickly absorbed by Austria.
      There were only two players, and noone was playing as Austria. The AI can get a bit weird.
      Russia annexing Zaporozhie happened in 1553, and the Ottoman Empire fell in 1556. Also, the war against Eretna that reduced the Ottomans to one province occurred the year following the Russian annexation of Zaporozhie, so I got my previous statement wrong. These timelapses are quick, so it’s easy to make initial mistakes.

    I am very pleasantly surprised at how accurate your retelling of the Serbian medieval history is. The sole thing I'd expand upon is the why of the Battle of Kosovo. You did very well to explain how important it is to Serbian national identity, but I feel like you should have mentioned WHY we take so much pride in, what was essentially, a loss. The reason is the fact that, during the battle, a (possibly fictional) Serbian national hero named Milos Obilic killed the Ottoman sultan, and that lead to a massive Civil War in the ottoman empire which (combined with the ottomans sustaining heavier casualties at the battle of Kosovo than expected) slowed the ottoman advance into Europe significantly.

    • @sv4110

    • @DespotEtImperator
      @DespotEtImperator 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      We weren't lazy, that is a complete historical lie. The only reason we lost at Marica in 1371. AD and Kosovo in 1389. AD is because our magnates and lesser lords watched their own interests instead of saving the Empire. None of them saw the Turkish threat and let Vukašin and Uglješa fight the Turks on their own at Marica which marked the beginning of the end for the Medieval Serbian state (Not counting Herzegovina and Bosnia, which outlived the Despotate). If the magnates had been united serving the Emperor and saving what remained of the Serbian Empire (Everything except from the Byzantine lands in Greece), we would've won. We had a pretty good army and a lot of veterans, but as I said, disloyalty and ambition of the mostly selfish and stupid magnates led to the destruction of the Empire and a quick fall of their own dominions to the Ottomans.

      @Aq Qoyunlu The number of 50,000 to 70,000 Serb soldiers is largely coming from Ottoman sources. But that's where the problem arises. The Ottomans liked to invent all sorts of things in favor of Islam. That's why they kept writing about christians being drunk or big sinners and that's why they lose. Serbian soldiers were said to be drunk. Ottoman sources should not be taken as valid because there is a lot of exaggeration and invention to better represent the Muslim army and Muslims. Most Christian historians claim that the Serbian Army consisted of 10,000 soldiers.Because 70,000 soldiers, no one in Europe could have, let alone a Serbian ruler.

    How my Ironman Serbia game whent:
    I spilt Bosnia 50% 50% with Hungary (that way they still liked me) i attacked Hercegovina then Ragusa attacked Hercegovina so i made Hercegovina my vassal so i could eat up Ragusa in a defensive war. Then i allied Austria, Poland and the Mamulks by playing sending gifts, Scornful Insults... afther that i had Austria, Hungary, Poland and the Mamulks beat the shit out of the Ottomans for my first 3 wars. Then i annexed Hercegovina, poped out Byzantium, fought Albanian and Venice took all of Albanian and my core from Venice and gave Byzantium one Island from Venice. Fought the Ottomans again took back all of Byzantiums cores poped out Bulgaria gave them all there cores. Kicked the Ottomans out of the Balkens dipl Vassaled Theodoro and feed like 10 provinces. Hungary broke our allience so me Poland and Austria beat it up till i had half of Hungary. It was all great then Poland called me into a war against Spaine and Frence we got destroy and had to release Wallachia, Montenegro, Hercegovina.

      You don't get to have that profile picture and also have a valid opinion. Albanians even believe that all of greece and greek people are Albanian, and they believe that they started the ottoman empire.
      Nothing I've heard an Albanian say about history has ever been true.
