Secretariat was not only the greatest horse in history but he was also the most beautiful. I mean that horse in his prime was ripped and toned like no other!
Secretariat / Big Red will always be the greatest. I want to one day visit Claiborne Farm to visit his grave. I celebrate him all the time. I have photos hanging on my walls. He was definitely a gift from God. Penny Chenery did an amazing job raising him and being there for him. They helped each other. I will always love Big Red. ❤️ 🌹
Great video. Thank you. Secretariat is my favorite horse of all time. I got to visit him at Claiborne in September 1989. He was in his stall, and I had my picture taken with him, petted him and even put my arm around his neck. The groom told me that if Secretariat was feeling better he probably wouldn't have let me do that. All he said was that he had sore feet. Exactly four weeks to the day following my visit was when they had to put him down. I was devastated upon hearing that news and cried for three days everytime I thought of Secretariat. I also sent flowers to his funeral service.
You’re so blessed to have met and touched the great Secretariat! I had the opportunity to meet and pet American Pharoah in Kentucky in 2017 and of course I visited Secretariat’s grave at Claiborne that year.❤️
I visited him about a month before he got sick with laminitis. He was something to see. I got to pet him and received a lock of his mane, which I still have.
Now that you mention it, I had a chance to meet Mr Ed once. He told me to put all my money on a horse named Secretariat but I thought he was kidding and I just blew him off. I never sent any flowers to him or Wilbur when they died.
Oh my goodness you are so blessed to have touched that beautiful creature. He foundered and had to be euthanized. Happens to a lot of thoroughbreds. If it weren’t for Secretariat and Bold Ruler (both foundation stallions and legends out of Claiborne) I would not have had the gift of owning my own beloved racehorse, Hawaiian Diablo. I called him Harley. Both secretariat and Bold Ruler were in his lineage. I purchased my racehorse at a hunter-jumper barn after he was auctioned at the racetrack because he couldn’t run fast enough. Because he had such a great pedigree (Bold Ruler was famous for producing some of the greatest hunter-jumpers in the world), it was rumored he sold at Keenland auction for 250,000.00 as a yearling. He was the best horse I ever owned.
I’m forever grateful to Penny Chenery, Eddie Sweat, Lucien, Mrs. Ham for being a large part of caring for this majestical horse that I love so much. I read his book every year , his picture hangs above my bed. hangs above my bed forever. Rest in Peace thunderous machine. You’re in my heart.🙏🐎🌹
He was MAGNIFICENT! When I was 7 years old I watched him win at Belmont in 1973. My Dad and I were jumping up,and down like FOOLS when he SMOKED THE FIELD! I was UNREAL watching him “moving like a freight train”… WOW. I have goosebumps now as I type this comment. The GOAT! And ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Legend. No horse is a Secretariat. The further he ran the faster he got. Saw all his races in the Triple Crown with My Father. When he broke so clean in the last leg I yelled Dad they will never touch him. Then I remember the cold chills as he ran. I truly believe with his big heart he was just warming up at the end of his races. When I first saw him I told my Dad look at his hind end it was so high . He's gonna win cause he's running down hill. Lol. Gotta remember I was a young kid that loves horses.
I brought one of his great great granddaughters home last week, she LOVES to run! She’ll randomly just break out in a gallop. I let her explore the sand arena yesterday and she rolled around and when she got up she immediately went galloping! She got rescued a little over a month ago so she’s finally enjoying having some energy (and lots of alfalfa hay)
Secretariat was undoubtedly the greatest horse that ever lived, or willl live. It was something that two Triple Crown winners from two different countries were in the same barn at different ends of the barn. There will likely never be another UK Triple Crown winner, as Nijinsky is the only winner of the UK Triple Crown in almost 90 years to date, so it was a unique experience to see both horses.
