Thank you for this video, it really helped me along with my install. If it’s not too forward of me, I just wanted to throw some notes in from my own install (on a 2004 NB). Prior to install I asked the good people at Flyin’ Miata about whether or not it would be worthwhile to jack up all four corners of the car for the install, idea being that the frame horns would droop or sag less when installing the arms. While they said that the difference would be “granular” in nature, I still decided it was worth the extra effort to jack up all four corners. The bungee idea worked really well! I still got scarily close to the wires when drilling. And you just general the area behind the fender where you have to mess with securing nuts and such was a bit cramped for me. The FM instructions say you should have a friend help with the door reinstall, but I have no friends so I managed to do it alone. It’s not easy, but possible. Personally, my biggest challenge was realigning the fender. That was a super pain on both sides, and more painful since I left one of the bungee hooks in after starting to holy one of the fenders down. 🤦🏻♂️ Again, thank you for all the awesome content!
Great job and thanks for the detailed feedback points especially for NB owners. Really good point about the door alignment and yes I did have fiddle with that off camera a bit, also by myself. If I'm honest I'm not 100% happy with the way the door sits on the latch at the moment. Thx for the awesome comment! 😎
You mentioned there was something to improve on these at 7:22, were you referring to the rear subframe brace video later? Also of the rollbar, frame rails and paco strong arms which made the car more enjoyable/less harsh on bumps in your opinion? Thanks again
Yup you got it, was teasing the install of the rear subframe brace. About harshness, chassis bracing mods tend not to affect the ride. The usual suspects with ride crashiness and harshness are high spring rates, low quality coilovers, and rigid bushings. Technically speaking, you could bolt on all these Miata chassis bracing mods plus door bars, butterfly braces, etc., with stock suspension, and the ride would be unchanged. Thx for the comment!
Nice video. I've done this upgrade as well as FM's S1 Turbo kit- but I've never documented anything. I wish I had now. I guess I just enjoy the build process-
Thanks! Love the quality and completeness of the FM turbo kit. As close to a plug and play turbo Miata besides the out-of-box turbo MSM. More coming to the build soon!
Hey! I've got that Nardi steering wheel on mine. I first bought the 340mm wheel, but it was rather hard work as I don't have power steering. This year I got the 390mm version and it is fantastic. Still plenty of room under it for my legs and so much more leverage when turning the wheel at low speeds.
I think the stock NB Nardi wheel is 400mm so 390 is still a bit smaller. With power steering I found a smaller 330mm wheel was perfect on track for me. Thx for the comment!
I've been considering fender braces but I hadn't realised that the Paco braces extend beyond the strut towers. So thanks for the info. I''ll definitely look at doing the Paco ones now. Have you considered door bars to improve stiffening the 'open' cabin area?
@@mostlyuselessgarage Yes, I have door bars (and a roll bar). I didn't fancy drilling lots of holes in the underside of my non-rusty Eunos (yes, that's right - an MX5 with no rust!!). So I went for the door bars from BOFI Racing (UK) instead of chassis frame rails. They're brilliant. They even give you something to gracefully lever yourself out of the car!
@@mostlyuselessgarage Hello, did you happen to try these out or any other ideas you had to make it any better? I saw you made the video about the rear brace and the door bushings but was wondering if there are any others you were interested in trying too
I’ve always been on the fence regarding chassis bracing mods to the Miata. Not because they’re ineffective, but because they do have the potential to stiffen things up. And I feel that it’s almost part of the car’s inherent personality to be a bit of a wet noodle in the frame department.
Got them in cart.. for over year now lol.. shit just keep happening in life to I can’t get them ordered but soon along with the Under chassis bracing.. that’s crazy our Miata’s look almost exactly alike and I have the same hat the only difference is that I’m black! Lol
When I ordered a couple weeks ago from FM it was supposedly the last one in stock. Like everything else there's supply issues so if you have an opportunity to get consider it! From your thumbnail our cars are identical! Let's meet up at the track! 😉

Honestly, these videos deserve more subscribers! Great quality.
Would be nice to see more of the results of the upgrade. 😎
Edit: this video does have the result with you driving. 😁
Thank you so much! Means a lot to this 1 guy in a garage doing this stuff 😂
I'll be sure to make it to the track again and give a proper review. 👍

Excellent video. Great job on the installation. And a very well done to my bud, Paco.

Thank you sir, love your channel!
This video was amazing!
Thanks dude!!
Love your videos, straight to the point, very clear and informative 👏👏👏👏🤜🤛💪 keep up the amazing content!!
Thx Rafael, as a guy in a dusty garage, that's super-positive feedback! Tell your friends! 😉

Definitely be a nice addition to the other chassis bracing you mentioned before!
Oh and yes I'm considering the door bars, it's one of the "ideas" to make it even better. Do you have them? Are they better than frame rails?

True and to further your point, Miata racers measure any mod, chassis or otherwise, by lap time improvement and these make little to no difference.
