  • Mazda didn't do the Miata any favors the way they designed the front sway bar brackets within the suspension. These pieces are fairly weak and can be compromised in high performance driving situations. AWR has a great solution to remove the stock Miata brackets and fix Mazda's error.

    AWR FTW! Thanks for the shoutout boys! These mounts are pure BEEF. I had those racing beat blocks at first, but I was always wondering if everything was staying tight. Now, I don’t even have to think about it. Less parts -> less failure points -> peace of mind 😎
    I also like how AWR has those stops welded right onto the sway bar. That’s one more thing you don’t have to worry about moving around.
    I hope we can get together this year for some track days. Matchew and I will be on the Lime Rock big course March 19th with Mass Tuning (if it doesn’t snow).

      The biggest driver for me is not having to hassle with the spacer blocks every time I drop the bar.
      Definitely we need to get together on a track day! 3/19 will definitely be too early for us, but you should make the trek to Miata Reunion and MATG.

    Great job on the installation video. Hopefully, this channel grows where you can get the equipment to corner balance and tune the miata.

    I installed these this summer. On the first try I installed them on the wrong sides.🤣 After lots of swearing I reversed everything.

    I'm running racing beat front bar with the racing beat blocks to brace it, stock rear bar and improved racing end links. I just installed it all couple weekends back, after watching this i kinda wish i had waited cuz the AWR stuff looks better, the bar, endlinks, all of it looks better

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love the RB stuff on the K swap, but installing the blocks is such a hassle every time I drop the bar. Next time it comes out, I’m swapping that car over to a set of these no doubt.

    They also make blocks (I think racing beat?) That go inside to reinforce the oem brackets. They have worked for me but if your suspension is rusted I'd go with awr.

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve used those for years in the past. They’re definitely a good option, just annoying to install/remove if you’re dropping your sway bar at any interval.

    Guys, What is the hole between the bracket mounting bolts for? Optional weld? Running stock bars (adjustable endlinks from Racing Beat), Tokico shocks with UK-made stock height springs. Had a front spring fail so I got some Sheffield steel replacements. For giggles, adding a UK-spec rear foglight.

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you could weld it if need be, it’s where the stock weld location is. You’d have to grind away the powder coat though which is a shame.

    Hi! thanks for the video, great info. I just got the kit from AWR and noticed something strange, on your LCA there's two parallel tabs holding the links - oem on my '99 only has one. did you add that tab?
    I'm guessing it'll only fit one way, but looking at your install, it's the longer tab inside towards the front? Is the top of the bracket sitting flush against the bottom of front frame rail? mine's about as rusty as yours, I fully expect it to not fit without lots of swearing...

    • @diesylone
      @diesylone 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      nevermind on the LCA's double link tabs, just found that early models had 2 tabs and 99-05 only got one.

    • @NappMotorsports

    i’m running RB front tubular race and RB rear on my 93 and bought the AWR reinforced brackets and i’m wondering if the AWR clamps that hold the bar to the car are better than the RB ones? and for the endlinks ive got superpro on which ive heard by goodwin was good for daily and track but are they better than AWR’s endlinks?

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t experienced the super pro ones, but I’m a big fan of spherical ones like the AWR units.
      As far as the clamps, the RB bar is a slightly bigger diameter, so the brackets/bushings wouldn’t be the right size.

    I have the factory mounts and sway bar setup on my 05 NB2. The driver side Mount for the bushing is missing one bolt and anytime I take a medium aggressive turn to the right, my driver side front tire can be heard rubbing against the fender skirt. Do you think this setup may fix my wheel rub or do you think maybe it’s a shock? Tires, suspension and everything is stock

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Factory mounts are still spot welded in, so I doubt it’s that. I would think blown shock first.

  • @PTSOPHOTO

    just got this kit for my '93 as well! how does preload work? The car needs to be jacked up to and not have any pressure on the suspension in order to adjust?

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sway bar preload? You want the car on level ground, and then adjust the bar until it’s parallel to the ground. Then adjust one end link until it has some play to it (the other one holds the position so don’t adjust it, it’ll have play once the adjusted one is set correctly)

    How much does the bar alone weigh? According to Ryan’s channel, the RB bar saves some weight from stock at five pounds.

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn’t weigh it, but it’s chromoly so it should be lighter than stock.

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The brackets are a tight fit, but they are supposed to be. They’re made of steel.

  • @merlyn2121
    @merlyn2121 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used the block. It was easy to install. And if you need to remove the brackets for this install may as well let them just rip out. Not that they will. But if they do then I will install these.

    • @merlyn2121
      @merlyn2121 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NappMotorsports the block is definitely somewhat annoying. You also have to periodically check it. But I've had mine for about two years and only had to remove it once because my bushings needed to be replaced. H&R bushing sucked. And both times I've checked them and they haven't loosened up yet.
