ah yes a city with a safety walk program is the ultimate city to avoid.
If it is that bad you have to be escorted around maybe Seattle needs to rethink its policing policies.

When you need a body guard to walk the street of your city , your officials have failed!

Yes we really are living in the slums. You see this in other countries. People are living pay check to pay check and are angrier, and more unhappy than ever before, there’s no middle class, only rich and poor. It’s no fun.

7:30 to 9pm... Come one now everyone know after 9pm in downtown is when you really need the escort. Saftey escort should be a 45.. not a 45 year old

So it’s going to fix 3rd Avenue. For a smoother commute. Interesting in that 3rd Avenue is busses only from something like 6 am to 7 pm. How exactly is this going to help? Maybe if metro hadn’t purchased busses so heavy that they are destroying the streets they drive on this wouldn’t be needed.

Seattle was never this bad. We never needed people to help us walk and feel safe. I NEVER felt unsafe in downtown in the early 2000s.

I worked numerous jobs down there pre pandemic mostly on the cranes ,at night when all the workers would go home , "not the ones that have fallen either" and since 2008 it has gotten progressively worse , I have been attacked mutable times by all walks of drug zombies and not once have I ever had anything taken from me, but then again I had a step dad that really didn't like me and whooped my butt any chance he got lol , those bums aren't tough just scary looking they are so weak frail and cross eyed dizzily chasing crap around that just making them fall down is enough to set them back lol ,

I carry a firearm when Im walking around downtown Seattle these days because I never feel safe on the streets, and no police in sight.

What a joke 🤣. This is pretty embarrassing. Born and raised in Washington. This service must be for Eastside tech workers. I had no clue that it even existed. I love how it's supposed to make visitors feel safe 😅. The fact that it exists is an admision that they shouldn't feel safe. 80% or more of who you see on the sidewalks or driving a car are most definitely NOT from Washington. We have become a translplant city. Yay 2024 . . .

There are a ton of un or under utilized apartments in the area, and several town homes and the like that sit vacant for months. Make it safer by putting city money towards housing and proper rehab programs for people that need it so there aren't just homeless people everywhere... This is a nice thought, but it's only solving the end symptoms of what's clearly a much bigger issue. Like honestly, the least the city can do is get them properly off the streets and attempt for safe, long term solutions. They're just shuffling around these huge and dangerous encampments like these poor people (literally and figuratively) are just going to magically disappear! There are so many other options. Work with local building owners! Give them incentives, work out a deal. There's just no reason why this is that difficult to figure out.

What a terrible shame I can't walk from the ferry to my dentist (8 blks) without being "aggressively panhandled" and or harassed because you're on THIER street. I'll stick to NEVER GOING TO SEATTLE AGAIN. I shopped there for over 40 years. And the only solution they can give is escorting you while you walk. Don't count on them fixing the streets either, the thieving democrat city council has probably robbed that piggy bank already. Good luck Seattle

$2.5k for a shoebox apartment in a city where they recommend security escorts to prevent you from getting attacked. Oooook

It's a shame you need an escort to be safe in Seattle. Safe Walk Service is not the answer. Get rid of the drugs and crime and this will fix itself.
