I was super concerned that I should've gone with the Pro, especially being on carpet, but I've had zero issues with this build and it's honestly super stable. When it's at my sitting position (30.1) I have to really try hard to get movement in my monitor, and when it's at my standing position it does occasionally have micro movement, but very manageable. Idk how that would work if its true. I've done a couple 8+ hour gaming days where I do more than half that time standing and playing. The ONLY time I have ever noticed wobble is when I attempt to make it wobble and I have it on carpet. The top for the XL is 70lbs so its not exactly light. Regular sized pro is 56lbs. My wife and I both have their gaming chairs so I thought that shade was weird to throw at their chairs. Felt like was back in Highschool 12+ years ago where people would call nerds losers. 🤣 They have like 100 different styles I'm sure anyone can find one that can easily fit into their home décor. Fwiw, that comment didn’t come out how it should have and I agree with you on the jab. Would love to see a video of your desk. Maybe it is the regular size but that would be weird as it uses the same manufacturing methods I’ve mentioned.
This video addresses the wobble on the Secretlab XL (see 11 min 40 sec) and it doesn't look nearly as bad as in the Deskhaus take - th-cam.com/video/X-D6SO10r4I/w-d-xo.html. Maybe the depth and weight of the top on the XL model do make a substantial difference as you've said? In the three reviews of the Magnus that I watched, none of them had the shaky, popping thing going on when they were moved up and down, either. I would imagine that would be grounds for an immediate return. I am looking into various standing desks to replace my ancient computer hutch - and for full disclosure I do own a Secretlab chair that I got on sale for about $450 and have been very happy with. Though I will check out the Deskhaus Apex Pro due to seeing this video and that it is made in the USA, I do find the tone of this video to be very off-putting. I have owned my own retail business for 17 years and can't even imagine going on YT and talking about a direct competitor this way. Coming off in a more even-toned manner (I agree with and third the packaging take!) would have made this video a lot more powerful as a feature comparison piece. Edit - time stamp text

Ah yes, a company reviewing a direct competitor’s product. This is sure to be an unbiased and completely honest review. Edit: I’m actually going to add to this, a few things I’ve noticed. This offer of 10k to prove this review wrong, is just marketing. Will they actually give the 10k away? Sure, why not. Their hope is that this video and the marketing they’ll get out of that 10k offer spreading, will more than make up for it whilst they slander a competitors product. Additionally. You can see throughout the video some inconsistencies with the setup of the desk. There’s points in the video where the desk appears to be either at an angle, or appears to have been intentionally offset from the ground. I have to wonder as to the integrity of this review as a whole.
Whats the other desk behind the Magnus? I was thinking about buying the magnus because of the cable management but some things are kinda odd to me. One is the huge "pad" on the desk and using a monitor arm so you clamp the arm to the mousepad and if you need to replace it you have to get the entire arm off whic is kinda bad. To be honest I didn´t expected it to be as shaky as you displayed it so you convinced me not to buy it. Unfortunately I cant find any good tables here in Germany so I probably grab the Leetdesk.
Well I guess everything you say is valid if you buy the desk to hold a whiskey bottle and a monitor arm. Who cares about the packaging being wasteful, I’d be more pissed if the desk showed up damaged or warped from bad shipping than throwing away foam.
It would have looked a lot more professional if they didn't include red gamer stripes all over it. Black is a neutral color that goes with pretty much anything, I don't understand why they needed to limit what this desk looks good with these red accents. Maybe it's to sell the deskmats to cover it up.
Makes point about camera wobbling pissing off streaming audience - proceeds to then jerk the camera he's holding around while randomly wandering around the room for 4+ minutes.
seems like there is a lot of secret lab brand loyalists here. I myself own one of their chairs; the Titan XL 2022 (being 6'10 it is hard to find companies who make chairs for a person my size, could of done more looking but like he states in the video; SecretLab has the money to market this stuff, so it's no wonder that's the chair I landed on). with that being said; I assume no bias in the matter as I'm not married to "SecretLab" the company. seems a little off putting that alot of these people want to say "you're biased" "bad look to shame another company" when those seem like statements made to fit their narrative. looking back into the past; how many companies have made it a point to compare their products to those of a different brand? Ford did it. Apple has done it. and I'm sure there is countless others. that's not shaming; that's simply making a comparison to inform people on the objective truth of the matter AKA the facts. instead of looking at this man like he is in the wrong; take a step back and look at the bigger picture? you can't be involved in any industry in which you aren't willing to make it apperant that you offer a better product/service than a competitor. Also, you can't prove such claims without buying and testing both products yourself? so he isn't in the wrong for that. if he simply made his claims then everyone would be doing the "where is your proof" type deal because let's be honest; sometimes there is no satiating or satisfying you people of the internet. sometimes you lack all objectional reasoning or common sense; if that offended you? I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU! grow up. secondly he is legitimately putting his money where his mouth is. granted, no one would ever win that $10K because he is kinda comparing apples to oranges; the SecretLab desk is less quality. albiet more "impressive" and "apealing" to those in the market for "gaming" related products. like he said, SecretLab has the money to market the HELL out of that table. with that being said; why argue with someone in the industry of standing desks who makes them? who has made a video implicating why he thinks the way he does; showing you several forms of proof as to why he thinks he offers a better product? and also offering any of those who disagree with him a very profitable amount of money to prove him wrong? this guy knows what he is talking about and no one would ever win the money; you can make the argument "well you aren't comparing a desk of the same price range?" why? cause he simply could NOT offer you a desk for the same price as the Magnus PRO; and expect that desk to be any type of quality. SO HE WONT. he isn't a snake oil salesman; he is a standing desk salesman. this man isn't going to try and put you into a product that he knows in the long run wouldn't be good for you. it would be nice if you people would appreciate people like him more; opposed to trying to tear them down and defame/defamate them based on how you 'feel'. like I said "GROW UP".
Honestly, this is fair. I looked at deskhaus' desks versus secretlabs when I was looking around recently and went with the magnus pro xl because of cost, cable mgmt, and because I'm not a streamer or anything. I'm typing on the magnus pro xl right now and if I pay suuuuuuuuper close attention, there's def a wobble at standing height if I put oomph into it, but it isn't something that impacts me or my work. Internet is full of enthusiasts these days who care about stuff your average person just doesn't (see: keyboards, I've lost so many hours to keyboard youtube at 3am...). Personally, I tested my desk at standing height and it seems to wobble less than the model here, though maybe the XL has better stability or something, idk. The desk did look offset to me in the vid as well, but there's a youtube shorts follow up to that as well *shrug*. Mr deskhous man comes across as a dick, but like...a passionate dick.
I contacted their support and they said the wobble had been "fixed" but could not provide any evidence to prove that. Sad. I wish there was a solid desk with cable management and I've be all in.
I'd have to agree with some of your points coming from a design perspective. I would have a bit bigger feet on the Magnus Pro XL, then flip the telescoping of the legs so the largest portion is on the bottom. I'm sure the 3 segment section allows for more range in height. But a 2 segment base could add more stability. I do like some of the features and design elements of the desk though. My only question is which desk out of your selection are you comparing it to? Every desk on your site has a 3 segment leg.
@@Deskhaus Which desk in your line up did you select to compare to the Magus Pro? I'm curious of the price point comparison. Is it the Lansing or Rockford?
@@georgejones5019 it was just a mid range vertex 2 leg with a veneer top. $1000. Doesn’t matter what we compared it against. All of our products do not move like that. I would say our apex 2 leg fully extended would. But that’s a $425 base. With a top you’re looking at $650
@@Deskhaus Rog. I think it matters a $900 desk as you quoted compared to a $3000 desk isn't comparable. It looks close to the Rockford for what you described, as far features and size go the Rockford is close. The power through the leg and the cable tray are nice features for cable management.
If anyone who's seen these hateful, emotional, unconstructive videos you make actually buys something from you, I truly pity them. I imagine having to deal with someone like you for a warranty issue or something that had arrived damaged. What a nightmare that'd be. If you truly do make a great product, a potential customers perception of you will never get to the point of experiencing the product based on these terrible videos. Take it or leave it, that's feedback from someone who was open to an alternative product to Secretlab.
real talk, shitting on another brand to boost yours comes off as desperate and cringe. Maybe spend more time talking about the great features of your company's product instead of shitting on others. you know, like how apple does things. Unless the problem is that your product simply can't compete on features. Maybe that's it. Yeah,.... that's it.
What features? Integrated power of which they sent out an email to all customers not to use because it has shocked people? We post plenty of videos of our features. We also get plenty of requests to show other desks. We build stable AF desks. No need for gimmicky features and a fire hazard. Doesn’t matter how many bells and whistles it has. If it’s not stable. You’re not gonna use your desk standing? We focus on what actually matters. Apple did commercials showing their MagSafe. Right? Well we do videos showing stability. That’s our feature.
@@Deskhaus I need a desk that will sit in the middle of my office. I was disappointed discovering this video cause I generally think your product looks good enough to consider, but cable management will be a mess. So yeah, a simple "ours is stable AF" means nothing when I can't keep my setup looking clean. Thanks for the tip on the magnus power issue. i guess all those users are now basically using their desks the same way yours basically works. I'm still in the market to find the perfect "clean" look in the middle of my office. And thanks to your vid and your response deskhaus is now out of the running.
I'm interested in your claim that 2-segment bases are more stable than 3-segment bases at standing height. 3-segment bases tend to have a higher maximum height than 2-segment bases. So hypothetically, would a 2-stage base at its max height of say 47" be more stable than a 3-segment base set to 47" but with a max height of say 51"?
Yes, its one connection point vs two. In this video you can see how much space is actually between columns. th-cam.com/video/yUGQawrXc2k/w-d-xo.html Will you notice anything 40" and below probably not.
Hi Chris, I apologize in advance if I went too hard in detail with this comment, I don't know if you will ever have time to answer everything ... you made me very passionate about the world of standing desks, the secret lab one is very different from the others, so I wanted to ask you: - Any consideration of the control panel inserted inside the top? I do not like at all the red and green light to raise and lower, then in all the videos I have seen, when there is a lot of light in the room, the LED that indicates the height is not clear at all. Outside of that, I think the panel hidden in the top is cool, but do you think it's functional? - While you have mounted the monitor arm, any considerations of the cable management part, on the back of the top? did you have difficulty installing the arm? little space? the clamp block of the monitor arm does not adhere well to the top because it does not have a 90 angle on the back does it? - Have you tested collision detection? considerations? - The leg motors seem quiet and fast to me, I like them ... but on the other hand I fully agree with you that the stability is terrible (and it is a malus that affects a lot)
Hiya! So I totally forgot to speak on those things. 1: I'm not a fan of the switch. I wish they were buttons and not just touch. The light is also very bright. It can be turned off, yes. I'm a fan of the integration, I would just do it differently. 2: cable management is great, HOWEVER, with this size. 23" is just not deep enough for me and I'd personally get the XL 3: Pretty standard detection. Nothing game changing. 4: Quiet yes. Fast NO. I think they purposely slow down the motors for it to be more quiet. I could hit the switch, walk over to the other desk and get to max height before the Magnus.
Ok so I genuinely need help. The desk clearly has electrical issues as when using the built in power it literally killed all my equipment. They won’t refund me no matter what I do. Have no clue what to do
YES DOG YES I WAS A TESTER OF THIS DESK AND I RETURNED IT BEFORE THE DEMO PERIOD EVEN FINISHED BECAUSE OF THIS ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS FOR THE PRICE OF IT I COMMENTED THAT IT WAS WOBBLY ON ANOTHER TH-cam VIDEO YESTERDAY LOL HE LIED THROUGH HIS TEETH FOR THE VIDEO.
Gaming branded desks, chairs, accessories are all a giant rip off. They're already real products with gamer shit thrown on the description so they can pass the price off to the customer for a brand name. For the price of those Secret Labs chairs and desks I'd expect something I can sit on without it wobbling. The chairs alone are the biggest farce they sell. It's all branding for streamers, the ergonomics are terrible. For half the price you can buy a chair meant to be sat in and have a much better time, sitting up, back or hunched. Gaming branded crap is marketed for the idiot consumers.

Makes point about camera wobbling pissing off streaming audience - proceeds to then jerk the camera he's holding around while randomly wandering around the room for 4+ minutes.
I just put mine together and no wobble at all. Did you adjust the feet to fix the wobble? I’m confused cause mine is solid as.
Post a video
Still waiting for that video
@@Deskhaus I’m not a TH-camr but I might make a video for that.
@@Youngbloodtattoos 🍿🍿🍿🍿 can’t wait!
@@Youngbloodtattoos where is the video at ?
seems like there is a lot of secret lab brand loyalists here.
Totally love the idea but pushing out a product like this just makes me wonder if they actually care about selling a quality product.
@@stochastic84 He is being misleading because he has no product that's comparable. 🤣
Maybe link us some good alternatives that actually ship Internationally to.
What if the product u got is defective or someone got a improved version? U will lost 10 grads for nothing
Still have that 10k
Ok so when mine comes in I just need to add weights in the legs if I can find one that would fit inside it

In this video you can see how much space is actually between columns. th-cam.com/video/yUGQawrXc2k/w-d-xo.html
Will you notice anything 40" and below probably not.
Thanks for sharing this, I thought of getting this table as my first secret lab product... now i think i will just get the Ikea one.
which ikea one?
@@arckanum332 uppspelar is the desk name if you havent found it yet ^^

Any base becomes more unstable with more weight. But you could prove me wrong and claim that 10k. 💁♂️
What monitor arm is that on the Magnus?
You like it? It’s one we’ve been thinking about adding to our products. Not currently available in the US.
A company called WALI sells one that looks very similar on amazon.
It does look slick though.
Looks nice!
Can I just come for the 10 grand and drink beer?
I mean I still have the 10k so maybe 😂
Hi Chris,
I apologize in advance if I went too hard in detail with this comment, I don't know if you will ever have time to answer everything ... you made me very passionate about the world of standing desks, the secret lab one is very different from the others, so I wanted to ask you:
- Any consideration of the control panel inserted inside the top?
23" is just not deep enough for me and I'd personally get the XL
3: Pretty standard detection.
Have no clue what to do
That is a bloody good bottle.
when predrilled holes
Think it's pretty bad that you are bashing other companies to benefit yourself.
YES DOG YES I WAS A TESTER OF THIS DESK AND I RETURNED IT BEFORE THE DEMO PERIOD EVEN FINISHED BECAUSE OF THIS ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS FOR THE PRICE OF IT I COMMENTED THAT IT WAS WOBBLY ON ANOTHER TH-cam VIDEO YESTERDAY LOL HE LIED THROUGH HIS TEETH FOR THE VIDEO.
jfc my E7 on CASTERS cost half of that pile of trash and is even more stable lmao
Don’t get that trash, people. Getchu a freakin APEX PRO MAX!!! Still loving the shit out of mine! Thanks a million, Chris and team!
the apex pro max is literally twice the price dude. if youre going to compare things at least compare in similar price ranges. goofy.
@@kheath580 That was my other point. I tried to look at things that were price comparible for the sake of his argument. But a nearly $3k desk to a $1200 desk is leagues different.
@@georgejones5019 exactly; and this dude really wants to sit here and make contact videos bashing SL wobbles? Because the way he try's to sale his product, I'll never look his way.
@@undead9189 Yeah, his tables are grossly overpriced. Better to go with Uplift or another brand that let's their reviews and customers speak for their brand.
Even if all that you are saying is true (and I am not saying it`s not), making a video like this is in poor taste. No matter how you do it, you will not be regarded as doing it in good faith, since you tend to potentially profit from people who decide to follow your advice. I am not judging you, just giving my honest opinion. Hope your company will thrive (more options are better for the customers), and while you are maybe correct about their marketing strategy, you should also reconsider yours.
Why doesn’t Secret Labs take him up on his challenge? I appreciate his honest reviews.
