- Trash your Transformers and throw your Gundams in the garbage - THE ABC WARRIORS are the coolest robots ever, and the 2000 AD ABC is here to explain why!
Whether they are policing the lawless frontier on Mars or saving the galaxy from artificial black holes, the A.B.C. Warriors always succeed! Featuring a roster of the deadliest robots ever assembled, including war-weary leader Hammerstein, super-cool assassin Joe Pineapples, master manipulator Blackblood, the hulking Mongrol and his goo-tastic friend The Mess, disciple of Khaos Deadlock and the psychotic battle tank Mek-Quake, the Warriors go where humans fear to tread! Find out who they are and how they became the most formidable fighting force in the galaxy by reading this fantastic collection containing their earliest adventures.
Written and co-created by 2000 AD mastermind Pat Mills (Marshal Law), the A.B.C. Warriors features art from Britain’s finest talent, including Kevin O’Neill (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) Mick McMahon (Sláine), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Carlos Ezquerra (Judge Dredd), Brendan McCarthy (Skin) and Simon Bisley (Lobo).
On the 2000 AD ABC we go through the alphabet of the galaxy's greatest comic - from the ABC Warriors to Zenith! Each episode we'll be taking a look at the history of a classic or current series from 2000 AD, starting with the legendary ABC Warriors! Find classic collections at shop.2000ad.co...
You can't get much better than General Blackblood. A Pirate robot that drank the oil from dead robots! I mean, the entire backstories of all the ABC Warriors are superb but that one tickles me to this day.
ABC warriors, the Chronicles of chaos, as well as other strips of that time in 2000ad is what got me seriously into comics. The artwork by Kev Walker is just bloody gorgeous.
I wish I kept my 2OOOAD comics..... I remember a story in them called flesh...... It was on a giant rig in the ocean, surrounded by sea monsters.... I'll never forget this introduction into incredible art work......
One of my favourites. I would flip out if they made a movie of the ABC’s.
Someone needs too make A.B.C. Warriors movie already
+TheDrez1210 I thought the exact same thing after I saw Transformers for the first time. I also thought some other things, but they were pretty much Megan Fox related.
TheDrez1210 it's going to look like transformers
If they start it with Rob Busters or interweave it I to maybe dredd it could work.. I would love to see Nemesis and Torquemada happen.
TheDrez1210 I said the same damn thing! Would definitely be a breath of fresh air instead of the never ending marvel movie's. Also Rogue Trooper, FLESH, Strontium Dog and RoBusters. To name a few. ;-)
@@pico527 I don't remember transformers being cynical, jaded, anti war , anti bosses, psychotic, subversive types
My favourite strip ever in 2000AD, particularly the earlier stories with the beautiful black and white artwork.
got myself the mek file hard backs.... Unbelievable!
Bisley's Black Hole is probably my all-time favourite artwork. Love Kevin Walker's art too.
Im so glad to find out about. Ive been hoping for something a bit like transformers, featuring living robots as the main characters, and with minimal human involvement(unlike Japanese mecha which are all human dependant)..
Whats even better is this is a story that sells a story without the distraction of selling toys.
i used to read these every week when i was 8 or 9 years old ( thats 44 years ago now 2020 ) . i thought it was fab , amazed by it .
I would love to see a cartoon/movie of A.B.C warriors in a intense Simon Bisley style!
I have 2 crates of 2000AD from my youth. Some of my best memories were made reading them. ABC Warriors, Rogue, the Judge, Slaine. Plus the countless short runs. Amazing shit.
Don’t forget that Durham red story !.
@@neontetra1000 Yeah I know I have 1 or two stories about Durham Red in that bunch at least (i'd have to check). Funny thing is I missed out totally on Jonnhy Alpha (except for flashbacks).
you sold me on it as soon as I heard Simon Beasley
Is he related to Ron Wisley?
Looking forward to what will be a wonderful series...Well done to all concerned...Great content and the artwork...is just astonishing....!!...Clint Langleys painted artwork is cinematic in its scope...Brilliant.
I'm a big ABC Warriors/ Ro- Busters fan! Spread the word!
Pat Mills get all the very best artists!
The first time I've read an annual of the first few arcs was at a donkey sanctuary when I was 11-years-old. I remember being disturbed, but amazed by where the series was going, plus I like the characters and their awesome designs, especially Deadlock's.
The story where a near-indestructible dinosaur named Golgotha sets himself loose and hunts down humans on Mars, and he soon devoured a mother and her soon from a vehicle. Grim stuff, but a really fantastic read.
I can't wait for ABC Warriors The Mek Files 5 to come out.
Yea Live action ABC Warriors would be Jaw dropping.
All those Marvel & D.C. movies, Avengers, X-Men, FF4 & Silver Surfer, Wonder Woman, Batman etc. etc. yet still no 2000ad movies other than the Dredd attempts....
Criminal isn't it, 2000AD has so much material to milk from, a proper universe that would sell boatloads.... Let's be honest, how many people across the world knew much about half the avengers outside of hulk, cap, thor, spidey and ironman before the films?
The mess was steel horn .. I recall steelhorn getting locked in some kind of incinerator and becomes the mess .. great story
ABC Warriors used to be my favourite strip. I used to like Hammerstein. Liked MekQuake too.
What about Terry?
Someone should also make a series
I'm here 2019, cos I saw Judge Dredd again and I am still in love with the ABC Robot after 15 years. LOL I still really want a ABC Warrior from Judge Dredd 1/16 statue in my lounge room with the voice and glowing eyes but no company does it
Joe Pineapples was always my fav fab favourite!
How are there still no toys of these

Joe Pineapples is the one for me in this series.....proper badass
wow...I loved the Biz's art on this one too
A1
i love the abc and dredd comics from the 1990s man the artwork was fuckin awesome
and i hope in that movie that sick meg qauke gets ripped appart
meg qauke must loose, if i would be in the world, a would break in him in half, because i hate him, terring robots appart
Thank you
Good ABC intro vid. You might want to make your audio mono when recording as it's swinging from left to right and back a lot
I thought Steel Horne and the Mess are the same character, if my memory is correct.
They are
Technically yes and technically no
Your rite he started out as steel horn but endid up as the mess
And ended up in Mad George
Steel horn and the Mess are the same entity only the Mess is the melted down form of the Steel horn robot.
Why is Darth Vader breathing into the right speaker?
Gald im not the only onw
EXCELENTES COMICS.
greatest robot story ever told
Anyone else remember a strip about robots that had a mongrol size robot called big red, and a monowheeled scout droid whose name began with O? They had a female human ally too iirc. But even though my brother and I remember them, noone else does...
have written prequel on my "ABC Warriors Unite" channel on facebook
Ex-cellent!
My 45 year old self STILL thinks the ABC Warriors are cool as f**k. Do more T-shirts!
Star Lord!
Who?
I would love to seen Peter Jackson translate this story to film.
eyeseer1 I’d rather del toro do it or Zac Schneider but agreed 🤟🏽
wasnt steelhorn the mess - the robot that got melted down
Yes and got put in Mad George - one of the best stories in 2000ad
I like robot abc
Tranformers meets mad Max i like it
Was made before both!
Yes i Know
JUST MAKE THE MOVIE!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
Jeo Pineapples may had style but he was NOT a crossdresser.
Would have necessitated him being female or male in the first place, instead of a robot.
@@mettrisscomputeque8238 a clever response I guess, but he is clearly modelled with a male physique.
Who would be better to direct an ABC warrior movie Peter Jackson or Micheal Bay?
Is this guy Tharg's Earthlet lovebastard? He looks like has a touch of the Thargs to me #NOTRUCKWITHTHEDEVIANT
i have written an origin story. ABC
that still doesn't explain why there's one in the old judge dredd movie
They just liked the look. Mega city judges turned up in Nemesis along with the ABC Warriors, so there was already a crossover of sorts in the comic.
In a tie-in story published in 2000AD around the same time as the 1995 film, it was explained that the war droids were part of President Bob Booth's presidential guard fighting against the megacity judges.
At the end of the story Hammerstein ends up in Geiger's Bazaar.
@RANJi713 Canon Schmanon - it's just a bit of fun when you've got a strips with black hole overspill and dimension warps.
A mega-city one judge appears in Book IV of Nemesis the Warlock which also includes the ABC Warriors.
Satanus is also in the same story, who was in the Cursed Earth story.
Skizz appears in Dredd, Rogue Trooper appears in Dredd, Johnny Alpha appears in Dredd. Even Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton appear in Dredd.
Or rather Dredd appears in Skizz.
It was the best thing about it.
spoiler alert the mess is steelhorn
They were really awesome at the time. I just didn't like the veering off into mysticism. Deadlock was well and good but they're robots!
nj
Not similar to Dredd of ABC robots
I thought it was biological but it's bacterial Lol
i have an origin story
It´s for Biological. Not bacterial.
Sorry mate, but if you look at the ABC Warriors' logo, it says underneath the initial letters "Atomic - Bacterial - Chemical".

Thumbs down, nothing to do with Judge Dredd.
2000AD isn't all about Old Stony-Face. There's the Strontium Dogs, Rogue Trooper, Zenith, ABC Warriors, Ace Trucking Company, Bad Company, Harlem Heroes, Anderson: Psi Division, Low Life, The Grey Area, The 86ers, The VCs... a whole load of stuff.
I'm here 2019, cos I saw Judge Dredd again and I am still in love with the ABC Robot after 15 years. LOL I still really want a ABC Warrior from Judge Dredd 1/16 statue in my lounge room with the voice and glowing eyes but no company does it
