That's some of the most creative comic book writing I've ever leaned about, Judge Dredd is criminally overlooked by Hollywood in this age of Comic Book movies we're living in
The reason why is because the first major attempt to bring Dredd to the States was botched pretty badly in the 90s by the Stallone film. Due to it's failure the franchise is soft typecasted by a casual audience.
@@lewisjackson7221 It's a bit more messy then that. Judge Dredd has always been a balls to the wall satire of a dystopian America with being an extremist police state, legalized obesity for sporting events etc. So it's less a risk of it being affected by Moral Defenders but more the issue that being left as is those more unfamiliar with the source material interpret it as such. I mean Hell, one of the most lauded JD tales is the America arc from the 90s that deals with a Hispanic woman leading a group of democracy terrorists against Dredd and you know anyone unfamiliar with that tale would jump the gun and assume political correctness being involved.
Judge dredd is truly an underrated gem I love his comics I really wish he would get an adult animated series that would run for like 5-10 seasons thank you for this video subscribed 👍💯
Sadly the late great Steve d. Is no longer with us. The work he done on bock mania was brilliant. And sadly Carlos e. And the late great Ron Smith. But at least we have brilliant artwork from the three greats.
Netflix should bankroll this television project, Mega City One ...it would have vastly more interesting characters and storylines than anything currently on...the Witcher is outstanding....but " Mega City One" needs to be made and bankrolled by Netflix .... I personally started my own champaign to get this done...I've sent emails to Netflix ....I grew up in NYC buying your comics from forbidden planet in the 80s and I know this will be the most epic thing ever....the "Dredd " movie with Karl Urban is the best scifi in ages...great performance ...gritty...true to the comic...they did good by me..what do i call it... The best movie ever made LET'S GO FELLAS!!!!

Thank you saying what case file has what story .. I try to avoid double dipping 😁 Here in America we need these case files to continue to be printed. I was just made aware of Judge Dredd and have a lot of reading to do. I can't seem to find case files 1 thru 4 and many of the latter half of the series. I need to collect all 34 !! 🙃
case file 02 is my first pick coz Judge Dredd is not so popular in my country and it's the only Judge Dredd comic available for sale and i gotta say it's an amazing journey
My first was Whitey, "Judges can bleed too". Sooo dirty Harry, and the intro to the 1st Dredd movie, starring Rock-I am the law -y. BTW, Hammerstein and Ian Dury had a part in that film too. Hammerstein is the epitome of an humanoid drone. I wonder if we'll start to see more like him on our current day TikTok battlefields? Btw, we are now living in the age of the Judges Fargo.
@@LoganDX1990 There are a few things that movie did right IMO(different from the source material, but not even close to as farfetched as a literal goldfish as a Judge): Rico...the aesthetic of not just the Judges themselves, but Mega City One as a whole...the fact that *everyone* knows the name Dredd...the clone project that gave us Joseph, both Ricos, Kraken etc...
@@Ticketman99 that movie is a guilty pleasure for me and is the reason I got so interested in dredd anyway. Just hope that one day we see a love action adaption of chief judge cal
Shame they can't make a TV series starting with Devil's Island from Prog 2. All the stories and plots are there. I'd buy the series boxsets as they came out. I can't help thinking it would need a budget that was too big, which might be the problem. Other sci-fi series manage to run though.
I own 30 years of the comics but when they retold stories I stopped. Still it makes me always think Gaze into the face of fear.. Best lines ever. I have 1000s of comics but you repeat I am out
The Apocalypse War and Democracy Now! would be great adaptations to the movie screen, or even The Cursed Earth in a prequel to the 2012 Dredd if they wanted to go that route.

@@lewisjackson7221 Could you imagine if they made Dredd a feminist. Dredd the hardcore fascist turned feminist.
If you want a hella creative comic book, read Saga by Brian K. Vaughn
America was my first Judge Dredd comic. Fantastic introduction is his world.

Thank you for the recommendations.
Have to go into attic to re read them. Haven't read since I was kid. Start from issue 2 again
Too many good stories! Just finished case files 33 and about to read America
America is so good. One of the best comic book stories I've ever read.
Just picked up case files 5 and 17 and I’m hooked

Read this shit since I was 12 in 77 ! 😁😁😁
What are some other good case files? And what are some that explore the cursed earth besides the cursed earth case files 2?
I will definitely look them up
I wish we had an adaption to "the day the law died" because not only is it my favorite dredd story but i feel it would be an epic story to tell
We did. People really didn't like how it was done because......it was the 1995 live action movie.

About Mean Machine character who appears in 1995 Silvester Staloone's movie, what story he appears in comics?

The Graveyard Shift would be ideal for adapting into a movie
I've the Cursed Earth and the Judge Call numbers (in spanish) from the late 80s early 90s; i love Dredd, he is a mutha fucka.
Wonder how he feel meeting snake pliskken
Gotta get Into dread now.
Same, seems cool, haven't read any of it but I might get Vol 1.

What do you mean by retold?
I started with Case Files 05
that's what I was thinking of going with, strange :)
The cursed earth is volume 2 of complete case files
pleases top ten slaine collections and review heavy metal comics
Who composes this music?
The novels're good.
Drokk that was good!
Thanks for mentioning blck mania so underrated
I like to see Judge Dredd arrest Superman
But there's only so much room on a bookshelf
Apocalypse War
