I am a young male with psoriasis who lives a very healthy active lifestyle and maintains a healthy diet. I don't drink, don't smoke, and have a normal BMI. I am very meticulous about my oral hygiene but was recently diagnosed with periodontitis at the dentist office which was very surprising to me. The hygienist explained that my immune response to even small levels of bacteria in the mouth is hyperactive which is why my gums are chronically inflamed. I also have essential hypertension which I have no family history of and is incongruous with my lifestyle. I am convinced that these diagnoses are linked to my psoriasis. People think that it's just itchy, flaky skin, but fail to understand that it's a systemic disease involving your immune system and widespread inflammation affecting various body systems, not just the integumentary. Thank you for shedding light on this, and I hope that there will be continued research that leads to targeted, safe, affordable, and effective treatment for people suffering from this chronic condition.

I also have psoriasis. Try googling high vitamin D as treatment. It worked for me and some others. I was low on vitamin d. And that causes flares of psoriasis. Like 5k iu per day for 3 months. Do your own research. Check your vit d.

I agree. Long story short... I firmly believe that that psoriasis (include eczema and seborrhea) is more of a herxheimer reaction (die off) from systemic / overgrowth of candida, not the kind you may be familiar with. This is the filamentous kind that gets throughout your body when you have leaky gut. I firmly believe that there is a cure for both the candida and psoriasis. I believe psoriasis is a symptom, the diagnosis is some kind of fungus/parasite. I cured mine myself because even my excellent MD wasn't aware... allopathic medicine is rarely aware of this. I believe it starts with taking antibiotics, especially without following with probiotics. Who ever heard of probiotics 60+ years ago when I was a kid and given tons of antibiotics. This also explains why alcoholics have such a hard time... candida loves alcohol (and sugar) and candida tells you what to eat/drink. It takes over your brain with cravings. The cure info is out there if you look for it, but MD's aren't taught this. PS: I have been low carb for 22 years. It's fantastic!

@@RealSky11 First off if you actually did have Psoriasis you didn't "cure" it because there is no cure. You’re just in a remission, which does not mean you are cured. This is just a fact of science! And yes Psoriasis is a symptom but not from a fungus/parasite. Stop spreading information that has no basis on scientific facts!

I got psoriasis when i was 14. Never smoked, drank alcohol and weigth 60kg. Mind you it was a stressful time with mom being a chainsmoking alcoholic.
Tip 6: Never, ever take warm showers again
I have psoriasis for more than 35 years now, covering 10%-20% of my body.
I have been taking Daily Cold showers (2-3 minutes) for 3 months now and most of my psoriasis cleared. Sometimes new spots appear but they do not Stay for Long. This is the second time i ever seen this is happening without taking UV-treatment. Two years ago i also started taking Cold showers for awhile with the same effect. But then i got stupid and took warm Showers again. The psoriasis gradually returned. I strongly believe that taking warm showers is causing stress for your skin. This does not help your skin figthing of any psosiasis you may have.
My advice: never ever take warm showers again.
Additional bonus this days: it save me 100 euro a year in gas bill (just do the math)

I have heard of several people completely eliminating it by healing leaky gut. I only have it on my elbows didnt have it until I was 40. I also have Coronary artery disease, arthritis, and fatty liver. I do have a rhumatologist but not for psoriatic arthritis. I had diabetes but only a year as I beat it through low carb, exercise, and massive weight loss. I no longer drink any alcohol. I stopped smoking 10yrs ago by switching to vaping never went back. Now stress I have had alot and been depressed alot too during my life. Im a recovering opiate addict 10yrs clean. Im still overweight but still loosing and walking 5 days a week an hour each day. I have not treated it other than over the counter lotions. Honestly its not bad enough for me to be willing to take any meds for. I would like to eliminate it however. Why dont we have a diagnosis for leaky gut? Why dont we treat it? Seems silly to just blow it off. The main issue I deal with is lonliness. Im always alone and probably will be forever as Im 50 now and as a introvert dont really ever meet people anymore. After losing both parents within a yr right before covid the lonliness really set in. No body else in my family has had this so find it very strange. I have also had most my teeth literally break off! I need some dentures but Im afraid to get them as mom always hated them and only used them to eat.

Look up TH-cam videos with Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Eric Berg. Your dad needs to try eating meat, good fats animal based to cook food in and a little veg. High protein and fats. Keto or carnivore has healed so many with all these flare ups. It’s shocking. I have used so many ointments and steroids for years and now eating this way has been the godsend. I hate that took meds for all those years when I could’ve controlled it all with eating this way.

I started smoking in grade 7. In my grade 13 year, I quit, I restarted almost right away during my first year of university due to going to bars so often and drinking. It goes hand-in-hand with smoking. I ENJOYED smoking. It felt like it allowed me to meet people. Most of my circle of friends were smokers, and I was afraid to lose some of them due to quitting smoking. I met people in my uni classes during smoke breaks (I would do my best to take 3-hour courses once a week instead of 2x 1.5-hour courses so I'd get that 15-minute break). It was much less awkward if I met some people and the prof planted a group project on us. I have social anxiety, and I HATED those group projects. Smokers usually avoid the awkwardness and go toward people they had met outside. It also felt like it reduced stress. And it does. For about five minutes! Then, you crash and burn and need that next cigarette to get back up again. The entire time until that next cigarette is a time where you have more stress. I would mainly see positives.
I tried to quit because others were begging me to (like my grandma). Until you're ready to quit for yourself, there is no point in doing it. There are different types of motivation. Doing things for reasons that are not indeed for yourself uses extrinsic motivation. Think of it as trying to quit smoking because it's Jan 1 (New Year's resolution). Those last 3 weeks on average. The going gets tough quickly, and you have no real reason to keep trying. Jan 1 is gone, and you failed. You're fine with that if you can have a smoke.
What you want is intrinsic motivation. This type of motivation makes you want to do things for yourself. I quit for my health. I quit because they were 12$ (cad) a pack when I quit). I quit because I was tired of yellowing everything in my apartment and knowing that people in my classes would point out how bad smokers smelled. I found a ton of reasons to quit for me. Treat yourself with the money that you save. You should also find solutions for the problems that you know will arise ahead of time. The things that you like about smoking will likely create problems. Plan ahead. I found solutions for stress. I found solutions to work with my anxiety disorder when a prof dropped a group project on us. I quit Sept 1st because I was finally ready. I had a cigarette on Sept 20th. I kept going. Beating myself up or saying ''I screwed up, so I may as well restart smoking'' is only detrimental to you. The more you fail, the more challenging you perceive it will be to quit. I fell off the wagon once on Sept 20th, and I had to realize why to prevent it from happening again. Do not restart, and try to quit again because you screwed up. You're human, and crap happens. I kept going, and I'm celebrating my 15th year on Sept 1st (in half a month). That's right. I'm not even starting from the 20th because I quit smoking on the first. I had one little accident. I will not beat myself up over it and say ''I didn't quit smoking perfectly''. There is no such thing.

i was diagnosed with psoriasis during my first or second year of university about 6 years ago. During this stage of my life, was drinking every day ,smoking tabacco heavily and was experiencing significant stress due to the workload. for a very very long time, i suffered very severe psoriasis that covered 90% percent of my body. i cut out alcohol, smoking, tried all types of diets, tried varieties of therapies (both natural therapies and traditional medicine) , spending whatever money i had available to me. My psoriasis exacerbated my existing depression and anxiety. long story short, I truly started to see results spending plenty of time in the sun (sorry dr dray) and in sea water and most importantly, reducing my overall stress. i have been in remission for approximately 2 years now. i eat a healthy diet consisting of fruits, veg, whole foods, no junk food. i drink only every 4-6 months and i do not smoke anymore. i also make sure to engage in activities that make me feel fulfilled and happy to reduce stress.

Thanks for the really detailed explanation (I'm using a translator for this text).
I was very stressed from an early age because of my parents' divorce. Because of this, I suffered from severe atopic dermatitis.
I was in remission for a while. But in my 30's I developed panic attacks and had suicide attempts.
Later, I found a doctor I could trust, and my panic attacks and suicide attempts were finally cured.
But at that time I was eating very little food.
So I was extremely weak and debilitated to the point that I could not walk more than a few meters.
And now I have psoriasis. This video taught me that exercise is better than expensive creams to cure psoriasis. I will try my best to walk and stretch from today.

My experience with smoking: I quit smoking from time to time and always started again, when I was in a stressful phase in my life. Usually it would be 2/3 cigarettes a day at first and after a year or so I would smoke about 15/20 a day. Then I would stop and start again.. I don’t smoke now and I don’t feel the need. A have cigarettes at home - just in case I feel like it. Never happened for a few years but it’s good to know I have some at hand 😁 What worked for me is to stop trying to quit. I’m a grown woman and I can smoke, if I feel like it and want to. That’s it. When I forbade myself to smoke it was so so hard to resist. I couldn’t think of anything else. Then I just gave up. I smoked, when I felt like it and didn’t consider myself a smoker anymore. There is no such thing as a “smoker” or a “non smoker”. That’s nonsense. It is something that we do, because/when we want it. Then I realized, that I started to smoke less. After a while I forgot it. The moment I didn’t consider myself as smoker anymore and allowed myself to smoke, if I felt like it, the “addiction” was gone.
It might not work for everybody, but it worked for me.

    • @treesm4479
      @treesm4479 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Another small but helpful trick is to cut a small amount, perhaps a quarter of an inch from the end of each cigarette. After a while, there is not the need to smoke a whole one. Then gradually increase to cutting a bit more off. Eventually getting to around a half a cigarette.
Then set times of the day when can smoke. Give up the morning one first. Set a time for, say 10 am for the first cigarette. The mind will argue with you and make all kinds of excuses, but you just tell it.. 'Ok I hear you, but I'm waiting till that time'. You then extend it outwards. Before you know it you've trained yourself to smoke less. This works for some, at least to cut down, and then maybe quit.
Possibly tailor-mades might be more addictive than rolling tobacco.

I’m going to see my PCP this Tuesday because I’ve been experiencing weird episodes of shakiness, confusion and feeling faint made better by drinking some pineapple juice and then separate episodes of n/v/d (oddly around when I should be or have ovulated) that last a couple of hours to days. This video has given me some food for thought to take with me to my appointment. I had no idea that this could all somehow be related to one another. Also I’m going to ask for a referral for a dietician as I also deal with ED’s (BED and bulimia) and I’m panicking about destroying all my progress of eating without boundaries. Guidance in this area will definitely help me to feel more secure as I make needed changes to my nutrition.

I came back to this video, because I felt there is a whole lot of other info that could be added here. I hope this will stay up, because maybe it will help someone.
For example, psoriasis, as with many other conditions, has taken a sharp rise since the seventies.
Sadly, with the internet being heavily censored now, it will be difficult to get past the standard answers to queries. So, although I perceived the differences between children who had been given certain injections as children and/or a lot of antibiotics vs those who had not, it is difficult to point people to studies, as you have to get past the many websites set up to deter alternative research.
However, There are some things that could be listed as points of investigation Including:
Looking into certain deficiencies including Vitamin B, C, D3, fish oils, Glutathione, GLA-gamma linoleic acid, Iodine.
Check for underlying conditions such as:
    Candida, Parasites, Allergies
    Gut microbiome inbalances.
Perhaps get a Chlorine filter for shower head.
    Avoid bottle feeding babies.
Cow's milk, cheese and ice-cream might trigger
    Gluten might trigger
    Avoid Artificial sugars.. especially aspartame.
Glyphosates can trigger, as well as be another factor in obesity.
I was going to write more, but there's a very helpful article from Shirleys Wellness Cafe. If you google: ' My Triumph Over Eczema, shirley's wellness cafe' you should find the link as I will not be able to place it here. On the article page you'll find a link to psoriasis too. You have to scroll past what may seem a blank area to get to the bulk of the article.
Tbh I have only glossed over it, to read later.
As an aside. I recall helping someone who had severe acne many years ago. He had been to dermatologists and had all kinds of treatments. But it wasn't getting any better for any length of time. At the time he was eating greasy foods. I took him off all the greasy foods and got him to eat Grated Carrots with Crushed Pineapple everyday. Plus I cleaned up his diet. Within 2 weeks his acne had cleared up... and what's more, so long as he didn't slip.. it stayed away. Grated carrots and crushed pineapple was the main part of this.

A healthy balance of high intensity exercise, clean diet free from processed junk and no alcohol, definitely no ciggies or rec.drugs, at least 2 liters of fresh water per day, plenty of vitamin D and L-Glutamine and TNF blocker medication prescribed by your dermatologist...you'll enjoy remission for longer and enjoy overall better health...plus you'll feel great mentally.

After having some success with a Vitamin D cream, and recognizing that a few minutes in a tanning bed every week helped so much ( I can not recommend that☝️).. I decided to try a Vitamin D3 supplement, and my psoriasis cleared!! It was so quick there was no doubt the association.🤯 My dermatologist was impressed.
Now, I had very mild plaque psoriasis.. I obviously don't know if this would benefit those with severe cases, but I figure it's a pretty cheap and risk-free thing to try? (as long as you don't get stupid and take half the bottle full everyday.🙄. Recommended doses people😉)
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • @aprildragas2807

    Thank you!!
DrDray, me and my family just watched “game changer,” a documentary on Netflix, about nutrition and plant-based protein and the meat industry sharing miss information through advertisements geared towards men and manliness associated with eating meat. The documentary covered Pro athletes and plant based diets, it covered bio chemistry and nutrition, it really didn’t get into veganism culture or the animal cruelty or anything like that. But my family and I who happily eat meat, who happily eat fruits and vegetables and whole foods, it has us all convinced that we need to give a plant-based diet a try. Anyway, just wondering if you had heard of it and if not I highly highly recommend. I think you’d find it very interesting.

    • @aprildragas2807
      @aprildragas2807 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sorry, just another thought, the documentary talks about the comparison of eating plant-based protein versus animal-based protein, comparative studies between different people, the phenomenal reserves of energy pro athletes had after switching etc. Olympic athletes, ultramarathon participants, some of our world record breaking athletes accomplished huge gains after switching to plant-based.
When you hear the phrase strong as an ox, what does an ox eat? Plants. 🙂

Information like that will also be flawed and biased as everyone as an agenda. They don't tell you about antinutrients in plants and grains since we don't cook like they do in the olden days anymore.
We also sometimes can't get the same nutrients from plants as animals can, so There's no point saying let's go to the source.
I have never heard meat eating being suggested as being manly. Both sides always make strange claims when they're trying to outdo each other.

@@daisiesandpandas1218 well if you have an hour and a half, and if you have access to Netflix, check out the documentary and then if you still would like to have a conversation on the subject, let’s talk. I think you’ll find that it really doesn’t have an agenda, it’s pretty science-based and directly addresses the fact that much of what we believe about nutrition has been fed to us by those with agendas. It was really well-made and entertaining to watch. There is no way I could do it any justice discussing it on the comment thread of a TH-cam video.

My comment keep disappearing like 5 times. Look at American cancer society on topic of cancer and marijuana link which I tried to link but my comment keep disappearing.
You can take 2 ways which is edible and smoke. Both acceptable due to studies and research. Not one is wrong to another but depending on situation.
But nevertheless the main question is smoking marijuana has any 'impact' on psoriasis ?
