Hi, some of these symptoms can be also caused by heart surgery? I have problems with my skin, but mostly on my head, face, the front and the back of my neck, and it goes down on both sides of the surgery and stops right on top where the heart is, my main problem is dry skin, and I am using treatment for dermatitis, it took about 3 years until I could go back using normal shampoo until then I always had dry skin, infections, and open wounds, and the diet had a very small impact on the long term. And on the left side I have a poor blood circulation, from the surgery, most of the times I have to stop from working on something that requires force, even when I do push-ups, or other physical exercises, I have to stop either because the blood doesn't flow fast enough to pump the muscles, or my skin starts drying like Sahara desert in seconds to 1-2 minutes. And from all the symptoms and pictures you showed in this video, only the itchy skin is my main problem, everything else like open wounds, and infections, they don't look at all like the problems I had with my skin until I started using the treatment. And I'm not sure if the lower blood circulation can affect the internal organs, because I started having problems in the past 2-3 years with sugar levels, so I started drinking milk and vitamin waters for more than 4 months and that helped a lot, I coudn't even eat pizza without feeling like throwing up, 4 months later I managed to eat half without a problem. So, I feel kind of dumb here 🤔

I found this video to most instructive. I don't have diabetes, but your suggestion about blisters rang a bell. I am an avid power walker. I get blisters, especially if I haven't been out for a period of time. Blisters hurt. Popping a blister without tearing off the outer skin relieves the pressure and keeps the wound mostly secure. Never "popping" a blister with something like a nick with fingernail clippers, isn't necessarily great advice. I've never had a problem with this approach and I'm willing to bet most people haven't either. Caution, in the extreme, is caution gone too far. What you end up with in this situation, is probably great callouses.

This video is a sign from above I need to pull my head in and start taking care of myself... I'm 27 and have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes since I was 12 weighing in at a whooping 120kgs I lost over 40kgs when I turned 16 over about 2 years. Up until 2 years ago I managed to stay under 100kgs, until I got back together with my partner. I've slowly gotten lazy again n gained all my weight back I'm currently about 112kgs and NEARLY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE SKIN ISSUES are reappearing slowly again.
Thanks Dr for giving me a massive wake up call I don't wanna surcome to my diabetes and teach my daughter that this life is normal as I grew up thinking it was...

Type II diabetics experiencing the thirst and vicious circle of drinking water and going to the bathroom will often deplete their B vitamins. Taking regular supplements of B vitamins (they work together), Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Gamma lipoic acid will help your body metabolize the sugars present in your diet (even if you are eating low carb). One of the symptoms of low B6 or low B7 is the pins and needles tingling in the fingers which is common to type II diabetes mellitus. I found this out by reading books, my doctor didn't mention it.
Some of the natural forms of B vitamins include Bee pollen, leafy green vegetables. Some of these vegetables can be high in oxalates so best to pick some with low levels of oxalates because you're already putting your kidneys under a lot of stress if you're in the frequent urination circle. Diabetes is a disease of inflammation so eating foods rich in antioxidants that fight inflammation can help. They also provide fiber that feed your gut bacteria. This type of food is usually plant-base and isn't found in boxes.
One hormone which contributes to the release of glucose in the blood stream is cortisol, the stress hormone. Best to avoid people who stress you out, Yoga may be an option to reduce stress levels. Avoid arguing with dumb people on social media, take a walk instead.

B12 important for diabetics but vit B tablets are not biologically available to the body, which us why those with pernicious anaemia have B12 injections. Only biologically available B12 tablets is methylcobalamine.

He gets the blisters on his knuckles and this just started about a year ago. He goes through hell with diabetic neuropathy pain in his feet. He sometimes sits and crys because it burns so bad on his feet. He says it feels Iike someone is burning his feet with a fist full of lit cigars. His hands and feet also have numbness in them. He has diabetic gastroparisis in his stomach, and he gets sick at his stomach and throws up from the gastroparisis. It's really sad to watch him suffer so much. He's such a good person and he doesn't deserve to suffer like that. I wish I could do more for him to help him. Thank you so much for all your amazing videos. Thank you so much for all the cool information! My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few years ago when he was just not feeling himself for a couple months and ended up in the ER with his blood sugar at 832! They said he was lucky to be conscious and alive! We knew nothing about diabetes. He’s 56 now and is much better at managing his diabetes but he has a bad habit of skipping meals and/or meds so I am learning as much as possible about the disease so I can stay informed and help him as much as possible. I have learned how to cook healthy food and have lots of diabetic recipe books and get a lot of recipes from TH-cam as well. So glad I found your channel! I am definitely going to subscribe. Diabetes is on both sides of my family in almost all of my relatives on my dad’s side and about half on my mom’s side. Not sure most ppl understand Gestational diabetes.. and how it works..nor how it/what it affects in a new born infant.. Gestational diabetes is basically insulin resistance due to pregnancy hormones.. which is why it goes away after giving birth-- and why when that occurs varies from person to person based on how/when their hormone levels return to "normal" or pre pregnancy levels. Typically the ONLY affect it has on newborn babies is shortly after birth-- depending on the mother's situation.. where an infant may (or may not) experience temporary or intermittent hypoglycemia/low blood sugars.. until their body self adjusts, & acclimates to being out of the womb. Same thing that happens to Babies or type 1 & type 2 mom"s... unless the infant has a genetic predisposition (NOT just a family history, but actual genetic markers in their DNA), then the "affects" of Gestational diabetes (or ANY type of diabetes really)is temporary, limited, & doesn't last. Saying "watch your kid".. isn't necessarily an accurate statement. While ALL types of diabetics are based in/start with our DNA/genetics. What triggers the body, even w/in families-- is different, & not everyone will have the same thing happen to them in the same/similar situations (i.e. pregnancy). Thus why ppl don't understand how a child can be diagnosed type 1 diabetic with no parent who is diabetic.. because family medical history and DNA/genetics of medical conditions, being predisposed to a medical condition & what will trigger it in your individual body..are 2 VERY different things. Just because you had Gestational doesn't mean a child will, or that they will have any other form of diabetes. Just depends on the person's own body & what triggers it.

I had skin tags and AN for years (20 years), never knew it’s link to high blood sugar and high insulin level. Blood glucose test won’t show the problem for many years, ask for insulin test is much more telling. It can take years for insulin resistant to develop and diabetes to finally be diagnosed. Went on Keto (below 20g of carbs excluding fiber from green leafy veggies) and my AN lighten up a whole lot after just two months, no longer diabetic after three months. Got skin tags removed and they didn’t grow back so far, it’s been four years, no more problem with blood sugar and metabolic syndromes, no medication needed. Wish I knew it years ago. If I start eating bad again, sure the AN get little darker after three weeks of fast food or high carbs, it’s no joke. When I went keto four years ago, my family thought I’m crazy, my doctor said I shouldn’t and she pass my case to a newer doctor because she’s afraid I’m killing myself lol, some friends got detached because I stopped eating out with them and they think I’m eating things that I shouldn’t like eggs, bacon, meat, fatty lard and butter. But I got myself back at last, best decision ever! I got my mom on keto as well :)

I’m a type two diabetic and I’ve only had the black ring around my neck when I first got diagnosed and that was when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I take a once a day injection of Victoza and 1000 milligrams of ER Metformin twice a day . My blood sugars have gone from over 300 to normal range and my A1C went down from a 12.2 to a 6.9 in just over 3 months. Sadly I already have diabetic retinopathy in my right eye. Diabetes isn’t something to take lightly like I used to when I was younger.

As someone who has suffered from skin issues like eczema and psoriasis since infancy, the dry skin issue was something that flew under my radar as I became insulin resistant. I simply thought that my skin conditions was simply getting worse as I got older (as is very common with eczema etc).

    • @sharielane
      @sharielane ปีที่แล้ว +19

@Sanju Deep Yeah. I'm type II diabetic. It wasn't until after I was diagnosed and started reading up on it that I realised that some of my symptoms that I thought was due to my eczema is also prevalent with diabetes. And if you think about, diabetes causing my skin to be drier would exacerbate my eczema anyway.
See if you can get your docs to test you for it anyway. Remind them that eczema and diabetes are not mutually exclusive - you can have both.
It really irritates me when docs don't investigate properly because they excuse symptoms on another issue. I had an uncle who ended up dying from liver cancer because the docs dismissed his worsening pain in his side as deferred pain from an old horseriding injury (broke his leg near the hip socket). By the time they took him seriously enough to run some tests (after years of him repeatedly asking them about it), it was too late for them to do anything. He died less than 3 months later.
Moral of the story - don't let doctors dismiss you. If you think there's something not right demand that they do their due diligence instead of fobbing it off on another issue and doing nothing. Testing for insulin resistance/diabetes is pretty standard fare anyway. It's not like you're asking them them to do something obscure and difficult and/or costly.

I thought my dry itchy skin was from my liver; (ie. NASH or hepatitis). It went away immediately after I got my blood glucose under control. The very first thing I noticed, within a week or so of lowering my blood glucose, was how soft my skin had become. My forearms and thighs had been like sandpaper, now they feel like satin. I don't even have to use moisturizer. Yay!

@Sanju Deep Well, when my A1C was 17, my doc put me on metformin. I cut out all sugar and refined carbs. A few days later I went to the hospital because my BG was so high it didn't register on my meter, over 600. They put me on insulin. I started watching keto videos and drastically changed my diet, limiting carbs to less than 50 gms/day. Within a week I got off insulin, within a month I was off metformin. I learned a lot more, from SugarMD and a couple of other doctor's videos, and 3 months later my A1C was 6. A couple of months after that it was down to 5.6. I think I can get in down below 5 with practice. I watch diabetes videos and ignore the dietician who told me I should take insulin so I could eat the recommended 160 gms of carbs a day. (Now I need to find out if my lipids are high; they skyrocketed when my BG was high, then went back to normal with lower BG and a month of statins. I stopped taking statins, but I am eating more fat than I used to so I need to make sure it's OK.)
You can do it! I was a vegetarian once upon a time, now I eat meat, (no more beans), but also a lot of low-glycemic index vegetables, and some berries and I drink a lot of avocado-kale shakes. I eat hardly any grains, although I do put butter on a couple of whole wheat saltine crackers if I'm hungry after meals. I limit my eating from about noon to 8pm. I'm hardly ever hungry and I don't cheat much. I love sweets, but only erythritol and stevia. My peripheral neuropathy keeps me on track. I do not like da agony of da feet. Hope that helps!
Sorry this was so long. I could go on a lot longer.

I removed all gluten and my doc put me on a no histamine diet which helped the skin issues even more. I know that some skin issues, like skin tags, the darker pigmentation, and growths around the eyes are definitely related to insulin issues. This was interesting. I dropped my carbs and the skin tags and darker patches went away. However, the rushes didn’t go away until I went no histamine.

When I was in high school and college, I had a rash on the crease of my elbows. After years of dealing with it, I briefly had given up gluten and they disappeared. They never came back even when I added gluten back in so I’m not sure if it was a coincidence or if the rash was caused by gluten.
I also have dry skin patches and am not sure if they could be caused by gluten as well or not (or possibly too much added sugar?). It seemed to clear up earlier in the year when I went on a low fodmap diet. And came back when I added gluten and added sugar back in. I recently have started trying to go gluten free again. I have some minor chronic digestive issues and have low iron without anemia (for at least three years now, along with mildly elevated WBC and platelets) as well.

HIGH inclusion LOWERS sugar to normal level, so sugar levels r not a good indication of anything basically. When sugar is high, it's already too late to reverse anything. This is extremely useful information. In my case, I had a very severe irritation on my private part that was not going away, nor did I understand why it was happening. It finally got to the point where I did see my doctor and it was recognized that I may indeed have a diabetic issue due to the chemical shift in my urine (i’m not sure if this can happen to women, but I assume so). The medicine/cream they gave me worked well and my blood test immediately came back and confirmed extremely high sugar levels. In hindsight, I wish I understood the possible symptoms and implications that are mentioned in this very helpful video. If I had known, I could’ve noticed several of these which may have helped me understood what my body was going through earlier, as opposed to finding out the hard way. In any event I am very grateful my doctor recognized it and was able to help me on a path towards managing my diabetes. I share the same sentiment as everybody already commenting, please keep the knowledge transfer and great information coming our way. It really does help!

Great information! Thankfully, I don't have these conditions! However I think being pro active regarding any type of health issues is a good disposition! Drs ate so busy, and patients of concern really need to know and present factually to the Dr what the concern is, and take care for ourselves! Thank You for going over this with us and sharing this information! I'm sure it is very helpful for many! Stay healthy, Yah Bless All!

I have had a rash that comes and goes for many years throughout my body. I manage it with apple cider. I drink it (2tbs in a bottle of water) and I apply it topically with a cotton ball (diluted). It takes a couple of days to notice a difference. It really helps stop the itching. Hope this helps. I'm not a Dr.

During a hospital stay for depression I asked that the tiny blisters on my legs be addressed. A dermatoligist took a look. Then the head of dermatology and other doctors. They had no clue, no ideas. I was astonished by their lack of knowledge. So no help.
After 20 years of searching for answers I finally figured it out.

My neck area has always been very dark, and I even went to a dermatologist, but the dots were never connected until I was in my 30's. When finally diagnosed I tired diet and exercise but in my late 40's I started putting on weight. So now at 55 I'm taking metformin and it is helping and I'm working my way back to my rightful weight. The content you share on this channel is very informational and I have learned so much. Please keep it coming for its very much needed. I like how realistic you are when explaining things like net carbs and importance of fiber and not being so hard on ourselves. Not all doctors take the time to break things down and explain as you do...blessings.

I have had many skin tags, and have had them removed by my dermatologist. He has never mentioned that this could be related to high blood sugar, so I had no clue! Very recently, my internal medicine doctor has diagnosed me with diabetes. This explains a lot, and I wish I could have been aware of it sooner, while still in a prediabetic state. Perhaps I could have prevented it from progressing! Thanks for pointing these things out.

I figured it out for myself but reading patients' posts on the People's Pharmacy (free) in an email. We cannot depend on our doctors. unfortunately. I have gone through about 6 endocrinologists over the years. I was seeing the endocrinologists because of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. You can always reverse this when you change your diet. Don't look to your docs for diet advice. See Dr. Ken Berry on TH-cam. Also, follow Dr. Richard Bernstein on TH-cam or read his book.

I was diagnosed 20 yrs ago up till a week ago I was not on any meds. Now I’m on insulin at night. I have fought so hard and fired dr after dr that told me I wasn’t diabetic. Now I all my efforts are null because there wasn’t a record of my diabetes, why? Because they don’t keep records after 7 yrs. I’ve said all along I am diabetic so now I have to take insulin because no one would listen. I thank God I finally got to see the one person that is still alive that knew I had diabetes. She is taking care of me . Finally after all these yrs .

I'm so happy I found this channel. It boggles my mind that doctors don't connect skin conditions with other things. All the sudden I started getting psoriasis on my scalp, buttcrack and my knee. I keep asking if it's something to do with my diet, nobody wants to test skin sample or do blood work it is so bizarre. My nephew has also been diagnosed with eczema and something to do with his hands are really dry with lots of creases all they do is give some type of steroid cream and nothing works. Watching this video I am in complete shock I feel that my nephew 100% has diabetes or prediabetes. He has the brown velvety skin, dry itchy skin, raised little bumps and patches which is one of my biggest fears getting diabetes it runs in my family and nobody is on a controlled diet I don't even know where to begin to stop drinking pop would be the first thing other than that I don't know how to go about changing our diet any suggestions?

Very interesting! I was diagnosed with insulin resistance a few months ago, I had consistently gained weight over several years after finishing menopause. Also increasing skin tags and yeast infections on my skin. Been seeing a dietitian and weight loss physician, on a strict anti-inflammatory and moderate carb diet. Also been taking Saxenda which is the same as victoza for type 2 diabetes. Saxenda is for weight loss. I am not diabetic now, but at one point I was pre-diabetic. I have lost over 20 lb in less than 3 months so far. My husband is a type 2 diabetic, and since he's been following long with me on eating better, his A1C has gone from almost 8 to 5.5 in just a few months. He also started experiencing a really bad rash on his face that seems to have improved along with the lower A1C.
