    I’m just here because I’m considering a street bob, in yellow, because I think the yellow is eye catching in all the right ways. I’m tired of owning black and red bikes, this yellow was speaking to me at the dealer.

    • @mathewkendell9056

      Yellow is one of my least favorite vehicle colors. Only a very few car or bikes that look good to me in yellow. The 2023 Street Bob somehow happened to pull it off. I think for me the reason it works so well is because of the minimal amount of yellow with a good contrast of black. Surprised even me but I like it.

  • @taylodl
    @taylodl ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Ha! The Industrial Yellow is what's drawing me to this bike! It's funny your saying you may as well get the Low Rider S and get all the features that in your other video you note makes it not a Street Bob. You don't need dual disc brakes. You don't need inverted forks. You don't need a bigger engine. Nope. The Street Bob 114 is just fine as it is - especially in Industrial Yellow!

  • @nikitis13
    @nikitis13 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Perhaps the shade of yellow is wrong. Black and yellow is traditionally a marriage made in heaven. As far as value goes, I think you may be right but all they'll probably do is stuff the 117 in it and that should justify any future increase in price. Dual disc brakes are overkill I think. Ridden the 107 Softail Standard hard for hours down mountain roads without any fade whatsoever, never felt it's under braked and the suspension has always felt perfectly set up. Clearance also has never stopped rapid progress. Inverted forks and dual disks are probably just going to be bragging rights rather anything else... I reckon it looks better with a single disc, shows off the beautiful black alloy wheel and the telescopic's look sweet. Best model in Harley's line up and I think they know what a killer success it is hence the price hike knowing people will buy them regardless of all that's mentioned. Can't go wrong a vivid black if colour is not your thing

  • @BondBonds-w2b

    100% Agree, I own 2024 Softail Standard. The color, but color no major problem! The 2.1 inch tiny digital display and 3.5 gallon tank that is the problem. During daytime I can't see that display! It is dark, and there's no backlight option to increase display light.

    I could have gotten a perfectly modded for me 20 low mile Greyish blue street bob in early 2021. Hate I didn’t get it, but the dealer would never give me a cash price, just tried to push financing. It was for my first bike so I ended up saving some cash and buying a shadow instead to learn on. Now that I’m considering making a slight jump up, it’s back to looking at Street Bob’s. For the price, the 114 isn’t a necessity to me and I’m not in love with the looks of the bold colors and tank graphics. Seriously considering buying a standard softail and nodding it to my liking instead as the 107 was plenty for me.

    Dealer markup on the low rider s makes it much, much more expensive than a bob. At least down here in so cal. That was the reason I went with my bob, which ended up being a blessing in disguise. The streets are flooded with low riders down here, I like being at least sligtly unique. The onlly thing I want from the low rider would be the 5 gal tank.

    I find it interesting that so many people think harley is over doing it with the price. Considering back before the complete harley lineup redesign for all their bikes the only “affordable” Harley was the iron 883 and even that was to much pushing 15k or more with taxes and fees. And the street bob before it got turned into a soft tail was starting 20k to 22k. The fact that Harley finally has real competition with Indian motorcycles. As well as all other manufacturers who were better at capturing the younger generation of riders with better tech and more affordable prices. Finally has forced Harley to try and compete for the younger generation such as myself to save their brand for the future. I think their prices while are going up again slowly are far better then they use to be up to 2017.

    Colors are less of a concern to me overall than value. To raise the price $1200 without any changes to the motorcycle to justify $1200 worth of price increase just doesn’t make sense and would absolutely have me considering other bikes or as you mentioned looking at a low miles garage pampered used bike for considerably less money. Might even find a used bike still under warranty with accessories already added that I would be shelling out my own hard earned pennies on. In my geographical location low mileage Harleys are easy to come by. Some times they are priced fairly and a good bargain can be had.

    I think they have also ruined the standard in the German market. In Germany you have a price difference of ~500€ to the Street Bob. And the Standard costs 3000€ more than the year before.... now it costs ~19,000€ and the Street Bob costs ~19,500€. That's ridiculous! They should just give the people what they want, a black painted Street Bob. It's been alive and well since 2006. And it's still here in 2023. Some people keep talking about the tank, as if they could last a non stop ride until the tank emptied. I rode from Canada to Florida on a Street Bob, I made more frequent stops than I needed to fill up for gas. This gas tank issue is really all in the imagination.

    I was going to pull the trigger on a street bob this year, but as you mentioned with that increased price point it made me turn away to consider other models. I think this is a really poor business decision Harley has made. I think they have really shot themselves in the foot with this one.
    It is a shame as I thought the Street Bob was one of their most popular selling bikes....

    I know I'm a little late responding to this but my bad for not subscribing and getting this sooner. I now subscribed so I don't miss anything. What are the 3 mistakes? I only counted 2. Anyway I have a 20 Black Street Bob with the old style badge. Definitely prefer this style and would not get a 114 with the less appealing #1 design. My thoughts too when I saw that yellow. I'm not a fan of any of the new Street Bob looks, even the black because that orange design detracts from the black look

    I looked hard at a 2024 new Street Bob with a view to personalise it how I wanted but tbh, I hate the cast wheels, I prefer the earlier ones with spokes. By the time I worked out the costs for exhaust, fenders, seat, handle bars, signal lights etc, just not worth it.
    I wasted a ton of money on my Sportster S, took in for a trade on, I laughed as they offered peanuts. I’ll keep it and pass to my son in law. I ended up getting an as new 2018 Softail FLSTN deluxe with dry 200 miles on it, a ton of money spent on it, fully serviced yearly by HD for a great price a few thousand less than a new cut price dealer special Street Bob.

    I totally agree with your assessment of the Street Bob. The woke portion of HD with the elimination of the iron with the evolution motor and now Street Bob it appears HD is conforming to the movement and with the price increase during these economic times is a true death sentence, keep the iron Sportster and build on that for a true bike lover.

    • @NotJustAnotherAverageJoe
      @NotJustAnotherAverageJoe ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The evolution motor is a necessity, not moving forward and accepting water cooled offerings is a death sentence for Harley, the old "bike lovers" will die, the young ones won't buy, and the brand will die too. What really is killing the sales is the prices period.

      Harley has the same problem that all powersports manufacturers have: lack of interest by the demographic that should be buying their products. Harley looked at the numbers...they are buying Tesla cars and iPhones. So, they came up with the Live Wire. But they still aren't buying. Honda is looking to recreate the buzz from the CB750, the other Japanese manufacturers are doing the same, and so is Triumph. The lone exception seems to be Royal Enfield. But I don't see one in every other driveway, not like the CB350 did.
