      Im in SoCal and leased a wrangler sport. Surprised that it came with alot of nice interior stuff, but........this particular soft top V6 with 6 speed manual trans didn't come standard with A.C. That didn't bother me cause its not really my daily driver and Will run around with the top down in warm weather.

    Sahara for me, thanks, I just want the comfort, the space, the manly look that I don't get with Sedans and to be able to make use of the 4x4 and safety features for simple trips, nothing too demanding that requires a Rubicon; I am not going to be climbing trees or crossing the amazon any time soon, no need to spend money in features I am not going to use.

    I bought the Sport S 2 door 2019 for 33k . My son bought the 4 door Rubicon 2018 for 39k . The only difference to me is the repair cost if you are a " rock crawler " the Rubicon costs more for it has more " Bells and Whistles". But if you are like me a sportsman/ outdoorsman and also use it as a daily driver the Sport S is way better all around.

    • @dr.michaelbennett8597
      @dr.michaelbennett8597 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The differences are enormous. Dana 44s, heavier transfer case, lockers, 4.10 gears, sway bar disconnect. Far better off road and far less likely to break.

    • @sector783
      @sector783 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dr.michaelbennett8597 I have a JKU Sport upgraded with 35 inch MT’s, 17 inch wheels, and a 3 1/2 inch Teraflex lift. But I am running stock axles (D30 up front and 44 in rear) with no front/rear lockers or a swaybar disconnect. No, I’m not doing severe rated trails in Moab, but I wheel all the time in moderate/hard trails quite often and I’ve never had an issue with anything breaking or getting through technical off-road obstacles. Maybe I have been lucky but running 35’s on the Dana 30 in open diff has worked fine for me.

    The 2023 pricing has gone full blown crazy town. A JL 2-Door Sport is now $33,000, and that's bare bones with manual trans and manual locks/windows, 0 options, basic soft top. If you add power doors/locks and automatic transmission, the price jumps to $40,000 !!!! It's insanely out of control. For reference, my 2016 JKU 4-Door Sport S with DUAL TOP group was only $32,000.

      AGREE! Makes more sense to go with Sport S. Build her the way you want it wheels and bumpers of your choice, Fox suspension upgrade, 4:56 gears and a couple of Detroit lockers for less the cost of a Rubicon. That's my version of a "Rubicon model" build for the infamous Rubicon trail here at Cali. Furthermore I'm not into decals, stock wheels, bumpers, a non traditional looking hood. Rubicon's are great for plug and play for non do it yourselfers. The only gripe I have is that I miss the all medal dash like the one I had on my 80 CJ-7.

    What does JL stand for?

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      JL is simply a model code that Jeep assigns all of their new Wranglers in production. There's actually a different code for every different vehicle they make! It's also a quick way to designate what year range Wrangler you have, as JL only refers to 2018 and newer. JK is the previous body style for 2007-2018 models, TJ is 1997-2006, etc. -Zach

    Ok so I’ve found that the rubicon doesn’t have a huge performance difference from a sport a lot of it is just comfort technology. So if you’re planning to build a Jeep the sort is the one to go with if you’re gonna remove the bumper, fenders and replace wheels anyway there’s no need to spend money on fancy versions of those

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much! You can always put lockers and sway-bar quick disconnects on a Sport model and have the performance be pretty similar! Rubicons do come with Dana44 axles front and rear though along with 4.10 gears from the factory, for what its worth. -Zach

    Always amusing with touches of dorky, I particularly enjoyed this one. While Miatas unquestionably provide a lot of fun for the buck, they don’t fit me well. I had one of the first ones and stopped needing to visit the chiropractor three months after selling it. Wanting to give myself something fun for a milestone birthday, I purchased a CPO Audi TT Roadster, which is a comfortable Miata with all the bells and whistles, but after months of considering various trucks, (shortlisting the Raptor and Gladiator), I spontaneously picked up a new Jeep Sport, and I’m surprised by how much I like it. While virtually everything lacks the bucolic Bauhaus interface of the TT, the Jeep’s appeal is in it’s simplicity and having the luxury of not feeling a need to keep it spotless. While fuel costs may be a concern for some shoppers, the savings from not having to repair the abrasions on the Audi’s 19” wheels (whenever parking too close to a curb to maximize it’s protection) is substantial. The Jeep just crushes it, and the curb squeals. While my buddy instantly took it boulder crawling, I’m unlikely to need the additional hardware of the Rubicon. For me, the Jeep is the fun little truck no one makes anymore. I have the two-door, and with its hard top and soft top, I can throw a bike in the back without a rack, and with the roof rack, I can have a platformed tent. It’s all great for camping and a once a month cigarette.

    You don't have to be a "soccer mom" to like a luxurious Jeep. In my 20's and 30's my CJ-7, then 90 Wrangler, 92 Wrangler, 95 Wrangler, then redesign 97 Wrangler were comfortable enough. Then on to Land Rover's, Range Rover's, Corvettes, A few Ford and Chevy pickups, even a few Suzuki's Samurai's and Sidekicks, Harley's, here and there. 4-Runners, Pathfinders etc. No, I'm really not bragging, far from it. The point is at this point in my life I want luxury but still love the look and feel of a Wrangler. That said, every luxury feature in a Wrangler is important to me. Clearly there are a lot of young, small penis, homophobes, making comments thinking a real man should want an uncomfortable basic Jeep. In 20 years or so you won't feel like you need to prove anything to be a man and you might at that point want some luxury with your Jeep and not have to make comments about mom's, homosexuals, or your other manhood issues. Until then, give me a Sahara with every option and new for 2019 auto breaking and speed sensing speed control. I can have fun and be comfortable at the same time and I'm secure with that.
