    I own a 2012 JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon that was a factory order by me. Took delivery of it on 17 April 2012. I drove Land-Rovers approximately 30 years starting back in 1964. Had both 88" and 109" Land-Rover's. Also had a grey market 1982 four-door Range Rover. My nine year old Jeep has been far more reliable than any Land Rover product I ever owned. Although I'm now seventy-three, the Rubicon goes everywhere I have the guts to take it. I suspect my Rubicon could do more off-road than any Land Rover I'd ever owned or driven in years past. The limiting factor now, however, is my age and knowledge that when things break, they can be expensive to repair. No part (save for the mid-level navigation system) of my Rubicon has ever failed. There has never been an oil leak underneath my Jeep. You did a great video on the Wrangler! Thanks for your presentation and advice. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

    Disagree with your engine comments. Just bought 2, 4xe hybrids which allow you to use you Jeep as an inexpensive daily driver or a fun ride. Your cost fears forget to include the $7,500 tax credit which is huge. If you actually price out the Sahara wrangler with the 4xe Sahara the 4xe is significantly less with the tax credit.

    Nice comparison video. I kind of like a bit of "vulnerability" in this type of vehicle. I've had 2 jeeps and they're both 2 door. The new one is a rubicon and is quite a bit less "vulnerable" then my first jeep. But having almost no storage pushes me to figure ways to pack it full for camping and so on. The fact that it's a bit noisy gives me a bit of that feeling. The first was a ragtop and I loved it but I'm quite a bit older now and I can't deal with a beat up ragtop that's as easy to get into or break into as that one was especially being my main vehicle. It's still a blast and much more capable then my last one. As far as the feeling of "vulnerability" try going through a hail storm in a fiberglass top. To me it's just an exciting vehicle with exciting capabilities but at my age a bit more comfort is a welcome addition. This one even has AC and in Arizona that's a giant plus. The old one went hundreds of miles through the desert and being a main vehicle even more miles on the road. I'm very sure the new one will be even better at both jobs. Safe wheelin!

    If the owner wants to upgrade to 35" or 37" tires, the Rubicon is also a good choice based on the 4.10 axle gear ratio, front axle strength, and extra front fender clearance compared to the Sahara and Sport.

    When Jeep came out with this generation Wrangler in 2018 I wanted to see how well it was built before buying one. I purchased a 2020 JLU Rubicon with an automatic and Pentastar V6. I’m glad I didn’t get an eTorque or any other engine configuration since it really doesn’t get you any more benefits for the cost. The only thing that is irritating is the stop-start feature. Also, be prepared to have a cracked windshield if you drive a lot on the freeway!

For aTotal of $3250 for the automatic transmission in a Jeep Wrangler. On the Dodge Charger, Dodge / Jeep give you the same V6 engine with the same 8 speed automatic at No Charge.

    Two weeks ago I ordered a Sahara. Glad I did. I've waited 3 long years for the Bronco and there is still no guarantee that I'd be able to get one even next year. I could be dead before that happens. The Bronco roll out delays begins to show what may be a disturbing level of Ford mismanagement. And I don't like to buy a Beta version of any vehicle.

    • @geographyinaction7814

      @@geographyinaction7814 The Bronco is a brand new vehicle that is actually six years late. It was late well before the so called pandemic. Ford discontinued the "Panther Platform" vehicles and didn't replace them, kicked out the Mercury brand name, tried pushing little cars, small engines with power boost gizmos and management are paying more attention to "social justice" programs than their customers.. They also introduced that ridiculous aluminum body F-150 that I wound up having to buy. Since 1985 I bought at least 17 new Fords. Not likely that I will go back.

      @Soul on Fire UPDATE! The Jeep Wrangler Sahara I ordered was delivered to me in only 6 weeks! Exactly with everything I wanted. Jeep can build and deliver vehicles probably because they had a huge inventory of components. It is well known that corporate MBA bean counter managers hate big inventories. That short sightedness may plague other car makers. But Jeep/ Stellantis either has or owns reliable sources for those components. Great business people!

    Great comment about the wrangler trade offs, ie…don’t expect it to be in direct comparison to a crossover or daily driver. The wrangler is so cool, so much fun, but it’s probably one of the worst road trip vehicles I’ve driven. It’s not very comfortable over long periods of time, especially the back seats, it’s loud, and the on road handling really suffers at high speeds. That center dead zone(1 inch either side of center) on the steering wheel really needs to be addressed. I’ve heard of the death wobble, but I’ve never experienced it. I also think it’s a heck of a lot of money for not many features if you’re not planning on taking it serious off roading, which most of its buyers are not. Most are buying it for the rugged looks. Nothing else like it though. It’s a unique driving experience and just plain fun!

    I got the Jeep Gladiator (Rubicon) JT as I needed more towing-capacity (over the Wrangler's). My Gladiator is VERY smooth-riding on the hwy, which may be in part because it has a longer wheel-base than a Wrangler has.

    I want to ask. I have a 2019 Jeep sport unlimited 2.0L turbo. It was only sold for one year. Our dealer called us to ask us if we wanted to “upgrade” our Jeep to a 2022 Jeep Sahara 3.6L. My question is this. Is my Jeep a collectible because it is a one year off with a 2 liter engine or is the 2022 a better deal for us?

      The only fancy extras my JL rubicon has is the upgraded radio and power windows and locks. I bought off the lot. If I had ordered it I would have went with the base radio. Don’t have a choice on the power windows and locks. And I’m ok with that. I guess lol. Around my area most dealers won’t order a base or near base rubicon. Hell it’s hard to find one without a hard top. The loaded and mostly loaded rubicon’s sell well around here. I had to drive 3 hours for mine or order one and they aren’t taking orders right now.

    • @montanamountainmen6104
      @montanamountainmen6104 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GamblerTrey I hear you. The dealers here never order in base models. They start with the Sport S then jump right to the Willy's and Rubicon with all the extras adding up to $48-50k plus. I like my Jeep, but dislike the Automatic shut off , to me that useless, what idiot dreamed that up, nothing like wearing out a starter. I just turn mine off at starting it.

    It is a popular vehicle. Trust me you’ll see them everywhere once you’ve bought one. They’re absolutely everywhere. I own a JL with all the bells and whites and a CJ, they’re a fun ride, but it’s a monster on gasoline. Be prepared to shovel out serious cash for road trips and just general back forth daily. Also be aware that the JL’s multimedia centers are fairly new on jeep, since 2018. I’ve had to have my entire unit replaced, under warranty of course, but make sure you have a good warranty. You may need it. Jeep doesn’t have a lot of background with tech so it’s possible you’re a may blackout too, but maybe they 2021+ models have already addressed that. The Unconnect system is nice otherwise. I put some Nitto Mud Grapplers on mine and I haven’t gotten them stuck yet. I think this is an amazingly fun ride for the first year or so, but that’s about when the little regrets start seeping in as you realize how ridiculously impractical this ride is if you live in the city. I lived in the country when I bought my JL and moved to a large city last year and it’s just not a sensible place to own a Jeep Wrangler. Love it but just not practical at all.
