I was listening in my car on the way to work and was crying laughing when Brian was telling the story about stealing 2nd base! I got home and immediately made my wife watch it and we were both crying laughing on the couch for about 15 minutes. Hilarious, love the show, all three of you are great, can’t wait for touring to start again to hopefully catch you guys!

I know several people in the comments have already said it, but it bears repeating--you guys are great, and you get better every week. This is a very entertaining podcast. I really like how your friendship dynamic shows through in the conversation; it gives the whole thing a down-to-Earth, no-frills vibe, which was amplified in this particular episode when you started sharing personal stories. You're all doing a great thing here. Keep up the fantastic work!

Watched the first episode from more than 3 years ago, amazing!! NATE'S always cracked me up, but Aaron and Brian really came out differently, different type of comedy, hysterical. I've never seen these 2 live but Nate's 'life experiences," make him top of his game and I'm just 29. Keep it up boys!

Hi, Nate - Big hockey fan here. Some of the reason's Gretzky's all time point record may never be broken is the bigger focus on player training and development. The same goes for goalies too; their equipment and pads have drastically improved as well.
Goals and assists are both considered points in hockey. Gretzky could have never scored a goal and he would still be the all time points leader. Wayne also has the most goals scored at 894. The closest active player is Alex Ovechkin with 706, who as always been a consistent scorer. He has never scored less than 32 goals a season, including the lock-out shortened season of 2012-13. He averages around 50 goals a year, he's 188 away and he's 34. It's almost guaranteed to do it.
Jaromir Jagr spent 4 years in the 90s playing over seas. It's interesting to speculate how much closer Jagr would have come if he would have stayed in the NHL during that time.
My wife Juliette and I are your biggest fans - love the podcast. -Nick.

I left my truck open in L.A. overnight (no power locks or alarm) and when I got in to drive, I noticed my glove box was open but nothing was stolen....I had an MP3 player but it wasn’t an iPod that was still in the truck. Brian, I can relate to your stealing first base story. Same thing happened to me, I stole second and thought I heard the ump call foul. I casually started walking back to first base and the other team was so confused about what I was doing they didn’t even attempt to get me out. I made it back to first but never had to go any faster than a casual jog. The first base coach wasn’t even looking at me and didn’t notice either until I was back on first after he thought I was already on second.

This is how OK smoking was in the 70’s. I was a teen mom (killing it) and I smoked in my gynecologist’s office. He said that smoking while pregnant wasn’t horrible and it might just make the baby be smaller. Which, in my opinion, is a bonus. Small babies are easier to push out. So many C sections could be avoided if we could just get back to smoking while pregnant.

My teen mom was smoking while driving a car with me in the front seat (1960’s, I was 2 or 3). She slammed on the brakes and did the arm across the front of me in the passenger seat. She had the cigarette in her right hand and accidentally burned me with it.
I asked if that when she decided to quit? She said no, but after that she was careful to always keep the cigarette in her left hand when driving.

Loved the "feeling like a celebrity" part! Back when Brian and Nate were in St. Louis, I texted Brian "hey don't forget about us in the upper deck" a couple of minutes before he went onstage and he replied. That was a cool experience. After that, Nate came out and was kinda good too even though he never accepted my friend request. I probably won't pay for the Nate VIP package when it becomes available.

    Biggest sports moment: I got a hole-in-5…
Was playing Ted Rhodes here in Nashville. Wasn’t playing great, but was on track to shoot mid 80s. (Ive never broken 80 before). I step up to the tee box on #15 (155 yard par 3) and shank a 5 iron into the water. Take a drop, shank the next one in the water again. I considered skipping the hole and driving straight to 16 but we were backed up a little so I tee’d up my 5th shot trying to prove to myself that the hole wasn’t better than me. I smoked it. two bounces and it went in. 5 on the scorecard. Best double bogey Ive ever gotten. I used to tell people I got a hole in one, but have since changed it to a hole in 5 after watching Nate’s episode with Erik Anders Lang about what is and what isnt a hole in one.

I am from South Pittsburg! When I heard you mention us, I was ecstatic! I was a cheerleader when we played DCA in the playoffs in 93 (when y'all beat us by 2 points at home and killed our state championship run) and again in 1994 when we beat DCA at your house (and went on to win the championship). Most embarrassing sports memories were both 8th grade basketball. I started and played most of the game of every game I’d ever played because I was the tall kid and pretty good.
Once on a free throw, opponent shooting, I was on the low block and was super focused on boxing out their best player on the team.
Shot goes up and I put on a clinic on how to box out on this kid. Jammed him up. The rebound comes towards me and I jump and snag it. I instinctually go right back up with the layup. At the opponent’s goal.
Halfway into the putback, I realize what I’m about to do, so I deliberately shoot the ball way too hard off the backboard (rather than the logical solution of just not shooting and eating the traveling call.). The thing is; their best player was so confused by me trying to shoot on the wrong goal that he tried real hard to block my shot. I’m told from folks on the bench at the time that the coach turned and pointed at the backup center and just pointed and eventually said out, “What is he doing?” I was walking to the bench before he had even chosen my substitute. The very last organized basketball game I ever played at the end of the 8th grade tournament, I brought the wrong jersey to the away game. I took out the white jersey rather than my red jersey. My teammates thought I was joking. Once I convinced everyone that I had in fact brought the wrong jersey, we started looking for solutions. There was a 4th string center who never ever got to play a meaningful minute of basketball because he was not good. Nicest guy on the team but not good at basketball. He offered for me to wear his jersey. I accepted and thanked him. Someone else on the team said it was messed up for me to take his jersey despite the fact that he never played and would be wearing a warmup shirt on the bench. The team didn’t allow me to take his jersey. The final solution was for me to wear an unwashed reversible practice jersey in the game. Since a jersey has to have a number, the coaches ingeniously added a duct tape number one to the front and back of this smelly practice jersey. That’s how I went out. Like a hobo. I’ve always gotten straight A’s at all levels of school. In high school football, my coach once screamed as he ran towards me across the field, after I’d messed something up on the play, “YOU MUST BE THE DUMBEST SMART KID I EVER MET!” This is the same coach who yelled at a linebacker who couldn’t read the pulling guard correctly, by yelling, “You must be the dumbest linebacker to ever play football!” Then bent over and screamed into the kids butt, “Get your head out of there!”

Youth swim meet the 4x100 relay where each member swims a length of the pool. First member of the relay dives in and starts swimming down. I am supposed to go third, but I didn't know someone else comes back. So when the first person touched the wall at the other end I dove in and started swimming. I crossed my teammate mid pool and thought "wow she really screwed up". Great time, but we ended up on the wrong side of the pool.

In high school, we were playing our cross-town rivals. I was playing shortstop and a runner from the other team was trying to steal second base, the batter hit a ground ball behind him to the first baseman, who just tagged first. The runner didn't see any of this and I told him that it was a foul ball. He proceeded to turn around and walk back to first base where the first baseman tagged him out for a double play.

Had a penalty called on me for not having my mouthpiece in during a play. My qb had to point out to the ref that I had 2 mouthpieces (I had a bad tenancy to chew them up, so it was nice to have a spare). Ref had to announce it over the microphone as to why he was picking up the flag, which then got broadcast over the radio for the whole town to hear.
Also vomited on the field after following my running back on a 94 yd. run. Wasn't even a lead blocker, just an o-lineman following the play.

You guys, the pod is great and really getting it's legs underneath it.
As far as women bowlers go, the big difference is ball speed between them and the men which will largely impact striking. Also, oddly, not many women have adopted a two hand method where a good percentage of pro men do it. Check out Jason Belmonte to see what the new school looks like. That's a lot of bowling talk for a guy that doesn't even bowl. Keep it in the fairway Nate!

Funny to Greatest Sports Story: (As abbreviated as I can make it haha) Div. 3 Football Jr. Year To this point I have only played garbage time. We’re at home playing a top 15 team in the country. We’re just behind them in the rankings. Starting QB gets hurt just before half time during a two minute drill. I step in. Coach calls QB draw my first play to catch them off guard. I get 7-8yds but fumble. We get it it back. Coach decides they won’t expect it again so calls another QB draw. 7-8yds and another fumble but we get it back! No more QB Draws haha Coach calls a shotgun quick pass. My left tackle never even gets out of his stance until after the ball was snapped and the DE hits me so hard I’m pretty sure the top of my helmet hit my tailbone and I fumble again. Luckily the half ended right there. I think my football career is over as I’m limping back to the locker room. Turns out starter broke his ankle. We were up like 28-7 at this point. I go back out there and lose the lead through the 4th quarter. We’re tied at this point with under 2:00 left. Right before I go out for the last drive the starting RB basically threatens my life if we don’t win hahaha go out there and lead us to game winning field goal. Afterwards, I cried like a little girl because of the roller coaster of emotions I just went through for the past hour and a half... ended up leading us to a conference championship game, started came back in time for that and we lost. Yeah I’m not still bitter about that hahaha

Enjoying the podcast thus far. Was happy to hear some swimming mentioned in there - often overlooked - but to help you sound a little smarter, Katie Ledecky and Regan Smith won't likely compete against each other because they swim completely different events. Katie swims primarily long-distance events and her challengers in the US are Leah Smith and Erica Sullivan. Regan Smith swims primarily backstroke events and finds her competition from Phoebe Bacon and Kathleen Baker. Both young ladies currently hold world records. Thanks again. It's good getting to know Bruce and that Grill guy, too.

I know I’m way late to the party but I wanted to start watching your podcast from the beginning instead of jumping in on the current ones but I will say I’m 27, class if 2013 and I know sooooooo many people my age and a little older that use to do BOTH, the rubber bands and the shorts things when we were in high school religiously! Lol so don’t feel old because of those things, feel old because my mom was born in 77 and graduated in 95 and she’s already a grandma! Haha on a serious note you are my absolute favorite comedian, period! I saw you in Cleveland this past winter and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard! Keep up the good work! Take care!

Hi Nate, you, Aaron and Bradley are doing a great job. I'm 58 years old and I wear my jersey to Rider games. Deep down I hope if they have enough injuries I might get into the game.

Totally agree with the conversation on watching greatness. When Usain Bolt dominated the 100 and 200m distances, it was awesome to witness.

Nate - there was an Ice Cube ad during this video, and I'm not sure what it was an advertisement for, but if you think about it, Ice Cube is helping pay your salary for this show. So that's a milestone. Maybe not for you, but it's someone's idea of success. Congrats!

Back when I was around 25 and working in CA, I worked with a guy who was only 3 or 4 years older. I had the pleasure of witnessing a MUCH older guy talk to him (everybody seemed older when you're in your 20's) ask my friend if they went to high school together. My friend is from Buffalo and I guess the older guy was too and I was shocked that my friend didn't even realize the older guy thought he was in his mid 40's because they were too caught up on talking about Buffalo. I did not pass up the opportunity to tease him for looking soooo old (which is not old now).

In a 3 year span, when I was 10, 11 & 12, I threw a no-hitter each year one being a perfect game! And that's about as far as my career went!

I went to University of Kentucky in the early 1990s and my father graduated from UK in the early 1960s. The best football game I ever went to was in 2007 with my father when #17 ranked Kentucky upset the #1 ranked LSU in 3rd overtime.

My high school team lost when I threw a no-hitter. Our starting pitcher gave up 10 runs before recording the first out. My coach, who had a knack for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time then put me in. I went 6-2/3 innings with 1 walk, even picking off the only runner I walked. We lost 9-10.

I went to many Cubs' games as a kid but never caught a ball...however, about 2 years ago I was at a Chicago Steel hockey game with my family. We were in the stands about halfway up. Someone hit the puck really hard and it flew over the Plexiglass and over my head, but then I felt something hit my leg. I didn't realize what had happened until my husband said "Hey, you just got hit by a puck". It had bounced off the back wall, hit my leg, and was lying on the bench next to me. I picked it up and was showing it to everyone and a security guard came over to see if I was okay, and I asked him if I needed to give it back, and he said "If you get hit by a puck, you get to keep it." Good to know! I brought it home and put it in a cabinet with other family treasures. Lol!

My friend used to wear basketball shorts under his other shorts or pants. In the winter he'd switch it up to sweatpants under his jeans, which I always thought was crazy. He graduated in 2010 so there.

Sports highlight for me was during my last year of little league when I was a freshman in high school. I have a late birthday that was right at the league cut off date so I am pretty sure I was the oldest kid in the league and everyone else was in middle school. I remember at least twice I came to bat with the bases loaded and hit a bases clearing double. One of those times the pitch was at like eye level and I tomahawk'd it. I remember my dad was at one of the games and I was excited to get his reaction because I hadn't had any sports highlights like that in a long time. He said I hit it pretty far for only a double.
