      It has held up perfectly! I sold this trailer last week literally, still looked perfect. I bought a new 36' the next day and am in the middle of doing the same thing to the new one. I did take some video of the 24' the day I sold it and plan to share it so you can see it was still great. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss it. Thanks for watching and be sure to share how yours goes.

      I just got a brand new trailer and it is going to be used for snowmobiles. I am debating between doing a garage for coating like you or roll-on bedliner. How well did your garage floor coating hold up when you drove on it? Would you recommend one over the other?

    This was the first video that I watched that the floor was painted. Didn't seem that anyone put down anything before they put down the epoxy . Thanks for the vid.

    • @HillRZRs
      @HillRZRs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@drewjones3601 my first trailer was already painted when I got it, it was painted with a primer topped paint. But I’ve done other trailer since then and I still think it’s a good idea to paint it first. Because you need to get the floor coated really well, and the paint is much cheaper than the epoxy that comes with, the kit. If you’re trying to get a good coat on the floor using epoxy, you’re going to spend a whole lot more money. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for sharing, I have the same size trailer that I’m prepping to paint. If you did it again would you go ahead and hold off on the flakes and do a complete second coat? Or are you happy with the single coat? Mine is like yours were is already has a painted coat from the factory. Your thought. Yours looks great thought is would ask about that second coat before I start.

      Hey thanks so much for watching! If I were going to do it all over, the only thing I'd do different is add more of the clear. There are a few spots where you can tell I put it on a little thin, when the light hits it just right.
      As I note in the video the first bag of grey wasn't enough to do the ramp door and the small step, so I used some high gloss black latex paint I had and there flakes on it. It looks great to me, but if you want it all to be the same, open the second bag.
      It's over a year later now I think and it still looks exactly the same. I love it.

    Appreciate you sharing this, my sons and I are getting ready to do something similar to our Dirt bike / ATV trailer. I know the Rust-Oleum Garage coating kits are designed to adhere to concrete, I was just kind of concerned how it is doing on wood. It appears that you have 1 year on this coating / trailer since you posted the video, so my question is how is it holding up? Thanks again for the video.

    Looks great and super informative video.
    If doing two coats of the epoxy, do you you let first coat dry for 24 hrs no flakes then apply a second coat and apply the flakes ? I think two coats will give a really nice finish over the bare wood in my trailer. I’d rather not use a primer coat as I want the epoxy to soak in and really bind well to the raw wood. Thoughts on this idea? Thanks.

    • @HillRZRs
      @HillRZRs  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@aztriple yes I would let it dry for a good 24 hours before I added the second coat. It’s probably not gonna be completely hardened at that point but at least as you’re applying another coat you aren't going to pull up the first coat. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I am curious about the wood filler. I don't want see cracks either when I do my floor. I am worried that the wood filler you used might work its way open because its not flexible. Has it opened up on your trailer?

    • @HillRZRs
      @HillRZRs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey. Yes I had the exact same concerns but so far, not at all. I think the coating is so strong that’s it’s helping prevent that. But it is flexible plywood after all and it may. I will probably do a one year review when I get to that point.

      @HillRZRs  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, it's holding up FANTASTIC. No issues at all. I actually had to order a bigger trailer today to be able to hold more UTV. I'm cleaning up the this one in the vid, this weekend to get it up for sale. I'll try to make a quick update video to post. I definitely recommend putting the clear on top. I really think it looks nice but also seals up all those flakes. I'll be doing the same to the new trailer. Thanks for watching!

    Can you give description of texture after being completed? Wanting to do this for my bbq competition trailer. But want to be able to wipe things up off the floor if they spill. Is that possible or is the texture additive to rough?

    • @HillRZRs
      @HillRZRs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes, because I put the clear on top afterwards it has a finish on it that I can clean very easily. It is not porous. It is more smooth and easy to clean. If you need some, you can add the grip powder to it which I did add a little bit, but that clearcoat on top makes it smooth and very easy to clean. thanks so much for watching.

    Did you use the 2.5 car Clear kit also and did you use all of it? Also about how much of the flake did you have left over if any?

      I think it was 2 car not 2.5 but only used one of the two bags of paint.
      I bought way too much flake. I bought a 10 pound bag off Amazon. For me what comes with the kit would have been too light so I'd recommend extra but not as much as I bought. Thanks for watching!

    • @HillRZRs
      @HillRZRs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey @hughphillips67Mustang adding the clearcoat pretty much doubles the cost, if you decide to not put the clearcoat on it’s probably gonna be around $350-$400. But the clearcoat is about another three or $400. Overall, I love it. I have a new 36 foot trailer that I need to make a video about, but I did the same thing in. And I put clearcoat on it as well. I really think it’s the way to go, but you don’t have to do it. Thanks for watching!

    How did you like the experience at purchasing from Phil's? Looking at one of their trailers and heard good and bad.

    • @HillRZRs
      @HillRZRs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve bought many trailers from Phil’s, and so have several of my relatives and friends. I can’t say that anyone’s had bad experience ever. At one time it was the best pricing in Texas. You could pretty much find but occasionally I do find better deals. Right after the pandemic, when trailers went short supply, I bought one that I’d have to say the customer service experience wasn’t the greatest, but that was just one of many purchases we’ve made from them. Overall, I think they’re a great dealership. Thanks so much for watching!

    It doesn't chip like paint. You can also use grip tape on the steps.

    I’m just curious on the wood putty aren’t you worried about expansion and contraction? Why wouldn’t you use something more like Bondo or something would’ve had some flex to it I mean wood putty for the most part unless it’s got latex in it it’s going to drive brittle and break away causing failure when you put the Epoxy down.
