This is the Start of a series where I present all of the Info I can find on various TWR categories until we cover it all. I include information from Documents Once Lost Games has released, Anouncements they have made and information they have given during Discord Conversations. I missed something that should have been included so I am pinning it here - In the Wayward Realms children born to mixed race parents are generally born as a member of the mother's race. The exception to this being that they are subjec, as all chidren are, to being born as either Cambion or Fey.... I also mispronounced the Ork Kingdom of Sidhe which will be corrected in the next video. Goblins seem like the most interesting and furthest from being a human. Exactly what I want in games, something vastly unique.
Goblins do seem awesome and are My second favorite race of those presented here... I think OLG is doing a great job of making the races distinct and will continue to do so as development progresses
I like that they release the occasional lore bit, but the game needs a wiki. Thank you for putting all the info into a cohesive video.
it has one but it's poorly maintained and has some outdated info the last I checked. Having to comb through OLGs anouncements and documents and various social medias to find is a major barrier to people learning more about the game which is why I'm making these videos. Glad to see they are helping people

oh shit...the diction police out in force today...there are some words I refuse to say correctly even though I know the "proper" way.
This game being set in an archipelago - so it'll get mentioned a lot - it's worth pointing out this mistake but there's no need for mockery. English doesn't have consistent rules for pronunciation because it has roots in so many other languages with very different rules. Words like archipelago which don't stress a particular syllable are rare. The video itself is great. I had thought I knew everything about the races already from dev tweets but there was a lot of new info here for me. Cheers.

great vid...it is nice to see people diving into the lore, or what we know of it, of this game...they have a lot of great talent working on the game and I the more I learn about the lore the more interesting it sounds to me.
for sure. They are taking a lot of unconventional approaches with the lore which is refreshing. I think it's helping it to be quite interesting

I watched this entire video yesterday and read all the comments and did not know that there was a Kickstarter. What did I miss? (I do now see the kickstarter link in the description.) One week, 88% of base goal. Very encouraging. 3 weeks to go. Strongly considering donating. $40 for the game and access to all tests if I'm reading it correctly.
damn... one of the main points of these is to help with the kickstarter. I have released 5 videos for the game in the last few weeks and they have all mentioned the kickstarter except for this one. I musta screwed up in the editing process and removed mention of the kickstarter without realizing. Anyways, sorry for that, but I'm very glad you found the KS anyways. This is a project that needs support and is worth supporting IMO. TWR is now 94% of the way to the goal with nearly 3 weeks left so we're definitely getting that EA version! If you back the KS at the $40 tier or higher you do gain access to the EA build as soon as it is ready and the game itself upon release. No need to purchase anything again.
Yes to the Fae race.
The Fey are sure to be a popular pick... them being mistrusted on the Archipelago should serve to make intereactions with the general populace even more interesting than it otherwise would be

The goblinsd are near the top of my hierarchy! Love'em and can't wait to play as them. Dwarfs are near the middle but still impoortant
Cummins need more armor like in kingdom Come Deliverance
if You mean Cambions they are not planned to have tails so I imagine they could fit into all available armors... possibly not Ogre armor or dwarf/goblin armor if they decide to make armors size specific
@@Lorespire I saw it say Cummins but just looked like humans that we would come acrossed. I guess they are but they barely had armor on in kingdom Come Deliverance I almost never saw them without armor. Unless they were prisoners or just waking up in their camps.

It's a meme, but what games have actually let female Dwarves have beards? I don't think BG3 allowed it, WoW didn't, the Dragon Age games didn't, and none of the Divinity games did either. I seriously can't remember the last time that bearded dwarven women were in a setting
@@cyberninjazero5659 Bearded dwarven women would have been/are featured as NPCs in the unreleased (but leaked) Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans from the late 90s.

When you're looking up how to pronounce archipelago don't listen to the Italian guy's video, he is saying it wrong (at least wrong in an English ascent).
yeah, I felt weird every time I was saying it but I didn't actually look up the pronounciation. I'll do that for the next video and hopefully it won't sound so awkward

was really excited about this game then I realized I always play in 3rd person with at least 1 follower npc, and so not so excited anymore.
why is that a problem? The plan is to make it possible to switch between 3rd person and first person views and they're planning on having followers... possibly even multiple followers. Additionally, there will be drop in/out Co-op so your friends can be your followers

Question. Do you have the early access? And if so is it worth it? Question applies to anyone who can answer
Early access is currently expected to open in December of 2025, though there are multiple tiers and prices, the lowest tier that promises early alpha access is only $40 USD, which is probably less than what the price will be at launch. It's 5% away from reaching the goal in Kickstarter, and almost definitely will.
In any case though, if you're happy to wait, we might not see many games of this genre ever release, so it's worth that price.

awesome! glad to hear you were able to pledge! You won't actually be charged for your pledge until the end of the month so you can still add the book or adjust your pledge however you wish until the Kickstarter ends on the 29th. You should know Co-op isn't meant to be available in the Early access build of the game unless the Kickstarter hits the final stretch goal. It is planned to be available in the final game regardless of what stretch goal is hit

Isn't this game still years away from being finished and if so why report on stuff like this so soon?
Because I am reading about it all and learning about it all anyways so I might as well share it for those who are interested... and there does some to be some interest in it. Also, right now with the KS going on alot of people are looking forward to next year when the EA starts for the game... people thinking about character builds and planning backstories and stuff so these videos can help them with what lore we do know, so that they can make more informed plans. Also, When there are updates or significant changes then a new video on the subject can be made to inform everyone
Honestly the selection is rather limited and uninteresting. I was hoping for some more exotic options. Goblins and Ogres are pretty cool, though. I just hope that if the game has companions that they arent limited to only being from the playable races
I'm sorry you feel that way... If it helps the races aren't going to be the typical mainstream fantasy versions of themselves. Personally I think the group is a mix of interesting and typical... both of which are needed in a game like this. I do agree Ogres and Goblins are the most interesting and certainly the Races I am most looking forward to playing as... Ogre shaman or Wizard will almost certainly be my first character.
There has been some talk of possibly having animal companions. I hope they are able to do that but I think that will depend on how much funding they are able to secure from a publisher. As far as humanoid companions go... I think it likely our companions will have to be of one of the 8 playable races but I definitely could be wrong... just a feeling I have but we'll have to wait and see
I will be interested in seeing how the cambion race is implemented. Being a paper and pen DnD player, i have an idea of how that can go. Muwhahaha...
I was pleasantly surprised by their getting an int bonus. I had expected that to go to elves.
time will tell.. at this point they are unfortunately probably the race with the least amount of info. If you ask the devs on their discord they can probably answer any specific questions you might have
the devs are trying to keep the races somewhat unique from what they are normally like in other more mainstream fantasy worlds... dexterity to dwarfs is another one I have heard quite a few people surprised by

It's the spiritual successor to The Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall, with the orignal founders being the leaders of the project. With you want to support they have a Kickstarter already in progress, go check it out!
What felipe said. There is a link to the kickstarter in the description. Check it out. It's a project that is worth the support. The devs and community as a whole is very active on discord so if you join the discord you can ask any questions you have and quickly find out if the game is for you or not. If you love open world sandbox RPGs then it's probably for you

unfortunately, the devs can't say for sure yet. They want it to come to consoles but they have to get a publisher on board first before they can say for sure... which is why we the kickstarter needs as much support as it can get

I understand what you mean and you definitely have a good pointl. Sometimes cultures don't value commonsense as highly as they maybe should . Also, There are real world examples of cultures doing this so maybe it isn't as crazy as it sounds and there are some advantages to having the youngest inherit... if you have your first child at a young age then they may not have that long to rule once you are gone. If you give rulership to the youngest then you could have the same ruler for longer periods of time which could promote stability within a society

I get what you mean but there is already originality built into the races and likely more to come. It's important to OLG that they not just be what you see in most other universes, So they have given the races characteristics that distinguish them from what you might see in more main stream versions. To be fair, they are also similar in many ways, including the names, butOLG is already planning on pushing the boundaries of RPGs with TWR... It's good to have at least some mainstream appeal to attract long time fans
Its like a bad Disney reboot. Bastardize Tolkien and Norwegian folk lore. Come up with brand new races that would be great imaginative. A matriarch of snow leopard like people. Orcs, Elves and Dwarves are butchered to the point of comedy. Another stealing of lore and twisting it into unoriginal boring identity politics and dei brain washing garbage.
It don't be like that. Splendour, the main kingdom is rule by a... king. Also if it were dei, there wouldn't be gender roles at all. And they did come up with new races, which one is ripped off? Almost every fantasy race is based on Tolkien/Norse mythology. People expect humans, elves, and dwarves.
Just let us enjoy an awesome RPG experience and you can keep enjoying... trolling I guess
a very good point. The devs are doing alot of original stuff here but you also have to give people some of want they want/expect. Trolls would rather stay ignorant so they can keep trolling with a clear conscience. Thanks for sticking up for the project - It's gonna be awesome!

yeah, it's a cool way to make the culture different from what most games give us. The devs are doing alot fo that kind of stuff... you should join the Once Lost games Discord if you have a chance Malfus. The devs are very active and there are a ton of people in their brainstorming ideas for the game, speculating on what might be possible and just having a good time in general. I think you might enjoy it
