I feel like I'm still working on an answer to this myself. But, Marty Cagan (SVPG) feels strongly that PO duties are just one small subsection of a Product Manager's overall responsibilities. With this approach, POs and PMs should always be the same person. Although, I've definitely seen the roles split out. Like I said, I'm still working on what I think it should be.
Hi Varun, Business analysts and professionals with business analyst skills are definitely employed in all types of organizations and industries. You definitely want to check the job postings in your local area to determine what specific business analyst specialties are most in-demand locally.
Hi, Laura! You mostly used the term Product Manager, but once used the term Product Owner. In this context, do you really mean Product Owner (as that is typically how Agile defines that role)?
Thanks for that catch. I was mostly talking about the Product Manager Role in this post, although of course a Product Manager could also have Product Owner responsibilities. Or, at times, that becomes the role the BA fills. That could be a topic for an entirely different video!
Hello Laura.. i was going through your video and thanks for clearing concepts. I'm a business analyst and I'm seeking to what future roles i should move ahead. I'm am confused to select between product manager and project manager. Let me know how i can talk to you about this. Waiting for your reply.
Hi Roshan, Most often roles with the title of Project Manager are responsible for the schedule and resourcing of a project, and managing it through implementation. Many Project Manager roles also include BA responsibilities in the form of scope and upfront analysis to get a project off the ground.
Simple and well defined thank you
