what happens when you get married is you undergo a spiritual shift, you become one flesh with someone else and enter into a covenant. Your role is now keeper (think guard) of the home. Suddenly you either resent your husband or worship him. You pick. Would your rather resent your husband or worship him? Would you rather resent Jesus or worship him? Marriage is to be a representation better described as a spiritual mystery that mimics the relationship between Christ and the Church. Christ as head of the church, and Husband as head of the wife. Yet Jesus is also our servant is He not? Do we not lay our request at the feet of Jesus? However we wouldn’t lay all our request at the feet of Jesus would we? He’s not our Genie is He? No of course not, what request then shall we lay at the feet of our husbands? Perhaps we need to get our priorities straight. No one is happy when their priorities are out of wack. If we are expecting too much or something unnecessary we will be miserable. Not everything is necessary our desires don’t have to control us. You can keep (guard) the home and the relationship without being negative, the way is through Christ and the fruit of the Spirit, if we let him teach us we can have great joy and our husbands can eat our fruit of great joy and be satisfied. Our joy will serve our husbands, our joy is a form of worship to God, and our Husbands. Jesus is the way the truth and the life, and no one gets to The Father except through Him.

Nah it's a shit interview, 16:24 ruins the whole interview. Having an affair is a total end for marriage, especially when it's done by the woman.

Not to evade any of the arguments here by setting up a strawman, but viewers may want to consider the thesis of her 1992 book, "The Erotic Silence of the American Wife," which (of course, I'm paraphrasing) explicitly argues that a quiet, deceptive extramarital affair can-and often will-qualitatively improve a woman's life. Listen with a grain of salt.
As for my spouse and I, we entered into our marriage with a pretty clear understanding that there would be some changes toward "tamer" versions of ourselves; we _knew_ we'd be leaving behind many of our more selfish behaviors. It's an old-fashioned ideal, I know it, but we like to think of this stifling oppression of natural impulse as _compromise._ Maybe it lacks the intensity of infidelity, but at least it preserves the dignity of honesty.

Of course it sounds like excuses to you because you are not going through the experience that a women does. It does not make it any less valid. There are clear roles in a relationship that don't seem like much of a choice. And that is what women come up against, this idea of being a perfect wife and mom and it is confining. Neither partner is purposefully creating the dynamic but it is created in the power of tradition and gender roles that are outdated and unrealistic. I think it just becomes important to try and understand the other's experience and point of view rather than judging it. Not hearing the spouse's feelings and working with them on it is just as selfish.

Not her fault though, it’s complex to deconstruct a woman’s thoughts. This kind of explains sexless marriages

Intellectual, but not biblical, which is God's word where all truth comes from.

  • @brunnerdg

The institution of marriage came from GOD in the garden of Eden. Its designed for them both. Read it in genesis.
