@redherringoffshoot2341 It's not a cost-cutting method in this case, simply a placeholder. It would be a money saver if it were asset reuse that made it into the retail game, but admittedly, Batman would look out of place in The Lord of the Rings.
I didn’t realize they were developing a TDKR tie in game- I always assumed after the cancellation of the Dark Knight game that they gave up on tie ins and embraced the original story video games following Arkham Asylum
That looks like sonar vision. It's probably more like Splinter Cell: Conviction where it's a late game unlock and only works at short range and while standing still to put some reasonable restrictions on it
And another game full of missed potential gets the attention of the public. I swear, it's the projects people actually want that ultimately end up getting scrapped. This game, the cancelled Flash game for the Xbox 360 & a Superman game years ago. It's like the second there's a money making idea, it gets thrown out the window. Shame because even though I haven't gotten the chance to play Batman Begins myself, from what I've seen it looks pretty cool & fun. So I definitely would've loved a follow up with improvements.
@@inshal6420 I too am happy with the Arkham games. However, those didn't have to be the only Batman games. And by only ones, I mean the ones 90% of people will say are great.
I think they wanted to have a build that they could show Christopher Nolan when they got in touch with him first a better chance at getting his approval and from what I have seen I think he would given them the Green light.
The combat system sounds like devil may cry combat system which probably is like pauses in between attacks to pull off a different/alt move or continue a normal based attack? Also this game sounds very awesome 🗿😭
WB is the king of making bad decisions with DC. I love that this Batman’s fighting style is a mixture of Karate, Ninjutsu, Jujitsu, and Kung-fu. I personally think Batman’s fighting style should be similar to Wesley Snipes' Blade but nonlethal. The only thing I dislike is the overreliance on the advanced suit and cowl tech. Batman is supposed to be a shadow due to his mastery of Ninjutsu not from stealth tech in the suit. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective he shouldn't need advanced cowl tech detective mode as he is the detective mode. This is the same problem I had with the Arkham series as well. To me, less is more with gadgets/tech, armor, and allies when it comes to Batman.
To an extent I agree but can I ask u what I thought of the Dark Knight Trilogy? That version of Batman was very tech-heavy. Do you like Pattinson more because he's more of a brawler? I find this take fascinating and just wanted to get more of ur thoughts
@@donovangomez9489 no I'm with you on your Dark Knight Trilogy criticism. That Batman was ninja James Bond who needs a Q Lucius Fox to build. Batman is supposed to be Ninja Doc Savage as he is his own Q since his inception in 1939. With Batman less is more with gadgets, tech and allies. His legendary scientific, deductive, tactical and combative prowess should've been on display. Now to your Pattinson point l. To me the only good things about this movie are the cinematography is AMAZING, The upside-down shot in the rain 👌, Colin Ferrell Penguin's performance is great, the make-up on Penguin deserved an Oscar, and Gotham for once looked dreary like Gotham is supposed to be. To me, everything else is mediocre at best.
@@FriendlyBatDoom Wow I find that fascinating. I thought u would like Pattinson more since he makes his own gadgets and uses more physicality versus tech. What are ur thoughts on the DCAU Batman. He's not as tech-heavy but at the same time I know u said u prefer Batman with less allies so is the Bat family an issue for u?
@@donovangomez9489 I loved that part of the character however he can't spellcheck Spanish and claims to be the shadows just to knock on the front door of the Iceberg Lounge allowing everyone to see he’s just a man dressed up. Batman’s supposed to come across as a supernatural wraith come to punish evildoers due to his Legendary intellectual and combative prowess. Batman to me should also fight more like RE5 Albert Wesker without the super speed with style and a mixture of Live-action Himura Kenshin and Ip Man. Instead we keep getting more of a brawler Batman which isn't something I like.
@@FriendlyBatDoom I can't defend the spell checking Spanish but I feel like Pattinson is in transition to become the Batman we know and love. I like that Monolith tried to do something similar yet different with this game rather than just copying and pasting the formula from the Arkham games. I really would have liked to have played this.
Tbh I don’t really see anything that great with it. This most likely would have been forgotten like the Amazing Spider-Man games. Movie licence games are almost never good.
The Nemesis system and the different fighting stances would've made it memorable lmao As much as I like Arkham, free flow is basic whereas with Shadow of Mordor, you have to strategise since enemies plan their attacks when they see you
Would been cool if this game released, if we could get nolanverse versions villains like Riddler, Penguin, Black Mask, or even Clayface. (If you wanna know how clayface could fit into the nolanverse, I think his early apearences can give you an idea.)
Good video and analysis. I'll be the first to admit I'd have bought this game, and it had some cool ideas, but I have no idea why they would think locking skills and abilities Arkham Asylum and City had already made standard behind an upgrade tree. Especially considering they'd (in theory) be releasing it the year after Arkham City. I know they were both developed around the same time, but a lot of the stuff they had you upgrading was core stuff you could do back in Asylum. Just seems a very odd choice. I mean, if I'm developing a Batman game, one of the first things I'm doing is playing all the other Batman games to find out what was good and we should keep, and what was bad and what we should avoid/fix. Also, based on some of the stuff I've learned in the last few years about Christopher Nolan and his "ownership" of the Dark Knight trilogy, I tend to believe that Batman: Gotham Knight and the Batman Begins video game being made were nothing short of miraculous. Chip Zdarsky tried to get Bale's Batman to appear in a recent comic he did, but was told by WBD/DC's legal team that Bale's Batman and the Nolan Trilogy is completely off limits. It seems Nolan's contract to make those movies stipulated that he was the only person who could or would allow his version of those characters to appear in any medium, period.
Is that just WB being protective of it or Nolan? It’s their most successful Batman project ever so it makes sense. I would assume they treat their Joker movies the same. Its just very weird they would give a director that much control over a licenced character. I have never heard of this happening before.
@@inshal6420 I’m pretty sure it’s just Nolan. Zdarsky was able to use Keaton’s Batman, West’s Batman, Conroy’s Batman in BTAS and the Arkham series…it was like he had carte blanche on the entire franchise, but with an embargo on the Nolan trilogy outright.

Fun fact the Batman model Monolith made for this game ended up being used as a place holder for Talion in early builds of Shadow of Mordor
